I had mine yest. Completely painless having it but they warned of a sore heavy arm later on I wasn't expecting it. My arm feels like its been punched and is hard to lift, feels like lead. 3 colleagues have the same. It will wear off and I'm not worried but wasn't expecting it. Anyone else?

Had first dose last week

Couple of days had a dead arm, body aches, flu-like symptoms, lethargy, loss of appetite, neck pain.

MrsBeltane · 09/01/2021 08:28

I had the 2nd dose on Thursday. I've been feeling horrible for the last 24hrs. Achey, high temp, shivery etc. But it's worth it!

ShopTattsyrup · 09/01/2021 08:29

I've had both my doses, same as you - dead and very sore and stiff arm for about 24-36 hours afterwards. Completely gone by the following bed time but needed help getting my uniform off at the end of my shift the day of my jab because I couldn't get my arm high enough Blush

Kapalika · 09/01/2021 08:33

Had my first dose 24 hours ago. Arm pretty sore and now feeling a bit achy, hot and shivery. Not terrible though!

MoreHairyThanScary · 09/01/2021 08:34

Me too! Had the jab last weekend. Arm was sore about 8 hours afterwards but I hadn't anticipated the sheer tiredness the following few days appears to have improved now.

Just for the record they were using blue needles at my hub not diabetic needles (much smaller and only suitable for subcut injections).

My mum in her 80s had her first one in December. She had no real side effects at all.

Her, much younger, friend who works in a care home, had hers the other week and felt a bit rough for a couple of days. I believe she was told that younger people tend to have more side effects than the older ones.

CountessFrog · 09/01/2021 08:37

Nurse who did mine said

‘Sorry it takes a bit longer because the needle is quite thick’

Which I didn’t want to hear. Maybe that’s the reason.

Ellapaella · 09/01/2021 08:52

I had mine on Wednesday- that night and next day my arm was really sore. The day after I felt really tired and bit achy but was fine and back to normal yesterday.

Cinderellashoes · 09/01/2021 09:30

I had mine Thursday, arm painful but nothing more than the flu jab. However I ached all over and was exhausted! I felt really poorly yesterday. I feel fine today, just my arm is still a bit achy.

Cinderellashoes · 09/01/2021 09:32

I am also a vaccinator and we use Normal needles (blue) and the volume of drug is tiny 0.3mls. You can give up to 1ml intramuscularly

AnyFucker · 09/01/2021 09:43

Why does it make your arm so bloody painful then Confused

Cinderellashoes · 09/01/2021 09:59

It can be down to technique, bruising or the drug irritating the muscle fibres Grin

BlowDryRat · 09/01/2021 10:00

I'm jumping in with a question if you don't mind. Do you get a piece of paper saying you've had the vaccine? I'm wondering how I prove I've had it when I travel in future.

barbites · 09/01/2021 10:04

@BlowDryRat at the moment you have a card with the vaccine name, batch and date you had it. There's a space for this information when you have the second. Whether this will be used as evidence I have no idea.

whataballbag · 09/01/2021 10:06

My grandma has had both doses. She had a sore arm and felt generally rough for a day or 2 after each

20viona · 09/01/2021 10:08

Yes Iv had the first one, my arm
Was super heavy for 3 days but that's all. Really grateful to have had it.

Soprano1985 · 09/01/2021 10:18

Had my first dose Wednesday. Sore arm started a few hours later. Throbbed for 24 hours (felt like I’d been punched very hard multiple times) but was manageable. Now feel totally fine. No other side effects.

Been told my colleagues, second vaccine causes a few more side effects but they are all feeling well now.

BlowDryRat · 09/01/2021 10:32

Thanks @barbites

Vivana · 09/01/2021 10:35

I had my first one on Thursday and waiting 12 weeks for next. Feel fine now

ViaGetty · 09/01/2021 10:36

Two family members - frontline NHS. One had a sore arm for a day, the other was fine!

RosesforMama · 09/01/2021 10:38

I read somewhere that people who have had covid get a worse reaction to the vacc than those who have not. I think it was speculation though. Anyone else seen this?

PrivateHall · 09/01/2021 10:38

I genuinely did not feel mine go in, I was waiting on her doing it and she said 'all done' haha! But it was really sore the next day, and I felt really unwell for a few days including temps, aches, nausea, etc. I had covid not very long ago so I don't know if that contributed to the quick reaction to it.

ViaGetty · 09/01/2021 10:39

Will we definitely have the second dose or was it just the Oxford one they are only doing one dose on. @hettyhooverdoover

They are doing just “one dose” on none of the vaccines. Both vaccines require a second dose Confused

AnyFucker · 09/01/2021 10:43

Does anyone know the reason why you have to wait for 4 weeks if you have had a positive covid test ,?

donttouchmyhair · 09/01/2021 11:10

I had the Pfizer vaccine and my arm wasn't too bad initially but pretty painful by the evening, couldn't sleep on my left side for a couple of nights as it felt so bruised. Fine now though. No other side effects.
