If you / anyone you know has had covid, where did they catch it?

I've been meaning to post this a while. I don't personally know many people who've had covid, though my number has increased a lot in the last week.

Of the people I know, one caught it off his husband who is a hospital nurse, one caught it off her boyfriend who caught it 'out and about', and one (2yr old) caught it off her dad on a contact visit. The rest have no idea.

Who does know where they caught it?

No real reason for asking, not a journalist, just interested.

My grandfathers good friend who is about 87 - went into hospital as a precaution after a fall down the stairs, was kept in over night for observations although was absolutely fine. Caught covid on the ward and died that week in hospital.

DHs boss caught it playing golf.

Best friends husband caught it at work - he's a builder and was in and out of someone's home building their extension and the homeowner had it.

Operating theatre in the middle of the night.

pretty sure i got it lockdown 1 when my employer forced me to work elsewhere(no PPE, no distancing, less safe environment) in the company under threat of no pay, became very ill with symptoms for weeks but not hospitalised so no test. Was then furloughed while off ill and was only getting back to full strength in July as lockdown ended.

My dd's friend has just got over it, she had cold like symptoms. She works part time in a pub and 6 of the staff got it. My sister's neighbour tested positive a while back, he had no symptoms (despite being in his late 60s and not particularly fit or healthy) he has lodgers who are nurses and they both got it at work, one in a hospital the other in a nursing home, one of them was very ill the other had mild symptoms.

I know a few who have caught it in hospital. One died.
A know 2 teachers who caught it at school.
There’s been an outbreak at my mums office. 5 staff who had had a meeting all tested positive. Not one of them had symptoms.

Suspect we had it very early in the first time wave and that my DS brought it home from nursery, or I brought it home from work on a university campus. Had weird raft of symptoms - eye pain, headache, gastric issues then back pain, chest pain and wracking cough for 3 weeks. Was also OUT of it but didn’t really realise until after. Also developed very strange problems with periods and heart palpitations which lasted a good few months.

We’ve since been tested half a dozen times for virusy symptoms, community testing etc and all been negative despite living in a very high rate area, so I’m inclined to think we had had it earlier.

My dad caught it on a plane back to Ireland from Spain on Friday 13th of March. The fella in the seat beside him coughed for the whole flight. He was cocooning after he arrived back and developed symptoms on the following Thursday. He tested positive. A friends husband works in a nursing home and caught it there along with all of the other health care workers there, and most of the patients, 6 of whom sadly died in the nursing home in the last couple of weeks. She and her kids were negative as he isolated in their converted ensuite attic bedroom over Christmas!

Some really sad stories here, I'm so sorry for your losses, and thanks for sharing

Interesting that for what feels like the majority it was caught somewhere 'expected'

Last people I know who had it, one caught it through her job (hospital) the others from their dd who caught it at school.
