My primary is stating that it is complying with DfE minimum guidance. We are getting worksheets and lesson plans uploaded, links to online lessons (from third parties) and one zoom call a week.

Am i being unreasonable to expect more? The KS1 lessons need almost permanent adult support and the lesson plans are really hard for me (as a non-teacher) to follow.

If it makes a difference, we're in an affluent area, the school is a pretty well funded faith school. I know we're on day 1 but I want to know whether we should be asking for better.

My next door neighbour is a teacher. She is off work with Covid so her class won’t be getting any online teaching or material to work through.
Why not just give the school time to get new systems in place.

Daily live online full class remote home schooling lessons in maths and English plus independent interactive work in science, humanities etc. These other subjects are covered in the afternoon live teaching sessions.

Full weekly timetable using MS Teams all recorded. To comply with legal regulations there was a requirement of parental legal consent waiver signed in person when collecting hard copy study bundles and the various online learning resources accounts log in credentials.

Daily home schooling timetable also includes school assemblies, PE and tips on best practice including basic screen time health and safety, correct sitting positions and taking breaks for exercise of eyes away from blue light digital screens and incorporation of desk yoga as you sometimes partake on long haul intercontinental flights etc.

Overall it is quite involved but a bit fiddly for a young child to follow as there are many individual elements including use of Google YouTube videos and electronic submission of assignments etc. Surprisingly children are already accustomed to this and seemingly happy to see their friends in a virtual class as it it pretty interactive as children are well behaved, stay on mute unless their raised hand symbol is spotted and wait their turn to speak when asked. Some children are accompanied by their parents or nanny and some take the opportunity to be very sharing and interactive to the extent that they become competitive. I am expecting a six year old to say they have mastered quantum physics or rewritten the full works of Shakespeare in Latin etc! Overall it seems to be a happy temporary pandemic safe arrangement and there is much additional tech support and feedback for flexibility in submitting other related individual learning.

Just a bit of a logistical issue to assist child when simultaneously trying to wfh and doing usual video conferencing meetings with colleagues or clients etc. However needs must and preferred to the outside Covid environment!

I work in a primary school in a heavily deprived area. We're doing:

3 x 1 hour live lessons a week focusing on English, Maths and Guided Reading. We would like to do more but many of our families only have 1 device and we don't want to cause issues with siblings clashing.

1 x 30 minute live assembly.

Work set daily on Google Classroom using a variety of Oak Academy, Spelling Shed, TT Rock Stars and work sheets. These are checked regularly and marked daily by the class teacher who is working from home.

I supervise the key worker children in class to access the same learning and also assist with the marking when I have a few spare minutes throughout the day.
