Tighter restrictions likely/possible-what could these include?

I'm already in tier 4 and CEV so the only thing that I can think of is support bubbles not being allowed and primary schools closing. I've barely been out since February so I'm not aware of what is still open/available and therefore what could be taken away. Where can restrictions go from here?
I do think they closing schools would probably prevent the need for more restrictions but who knows. I've lost the plot with all this now.

One-way pavements
Curfews
Children’s playgrounds closed
No moving house

Just a guess

covetingthepreciousthings · 03/01/2021 13:03

All counties in tier 4 at least, we are in tier 3 and non essential shops are still open.

spababe · 03/01/2021 13:09

papers to go out and police checking the reasons given?

SantasBritchesSpelleas · 03/01/2021 13:12

Tier 4 for all?

NotAnotherUserNumber · 03/01/2021 13:17

I don’t think they will stop support bubbles as they are so necessary for many people and the consequences of not having them will be problematic for caring responsibilities etc.

spababe · 03/01/2021 13:25

Shutting hairdressers/beauty salons and garden centres

SillyUnMurphy · 03/01/2021 13:28

Closing bloody B&M and the Range. I’m in Tier 4 (strict, just outside of London, where cases are rising rapidly) primary schools are closed but these shops - which are non-essential, are still open! People are using them for sociable meet-ups

bert3400 · 03/01/2021 13:30

Stopping everything like they did in Europe.
Only one person from the house allowed out to your nearest supermarket for essential items only.
No exercise.
Schools closed & No children allowed out at all.
One member of the household can walk the dog only 50 metres from your property.
Police checks everywhere.

That's a proper lockdown

MythicalBiologicalFennel · 03/01/2021 13:31

Curfews? I can't see how they help but it seems to have worked in France.

IDSNeighbour · 03/01/2021 13:36

If they stop us meeting one person outside, I don't know what I'll do.

I could manage more easily without a support bubble as my sister isn't that local anyway so I only see her sporadically. I think support bubbles for single people and single parents should stay.

Less sure about all families with babies being allowed a bubble. That's a lot of families mixing for no real reason, imo.

I don't think tier 4 could get any worse, surely. Supermarkets closed and boxes of govt essentials left on our footsteps?!

FatGirlShrinking · 03/01/2021 13:36

Currently in Tier 4 there are several things you can do that were not allowed in the first lockdown so those would be what I think would go.

  • schools closed
  • places of worship closed
  • outdoor youth and disabled sports teams paused
  • outdoor attractions like zoos/farm parks closed
SillyUnMurphy · 03/01/2021 13:38

I can’t see them ever doing that. Besides too many people have to eat restrictive diets nowadays, so I’m not sure what a box of essentials would technically look like.

HopeYourHighHorseBucks · 03/01/2021 13:40

A maximum number of breaths permitted outside. No standing by your windows and avoid eye contact.

God knows. I can only think primary schools shutting? Maybe tighter rules on what is classed as essential work. For example I am in a tier 4 area with non essential shops closed, but the local cake shop is open as it is classed as food, they only sell cakes so technically could close.

trappedsincesundaymorn · 03/01/2021 13:41

@spababe

Shutting hairdressers/beauty salons and garden centres
hair dressers/beauty salons are already closed if in a tier 4 area.
HopeYourHighHorseBucks · 03/01/2021 13:42

Yes to places of worship closed. Supermarkets here still have all aisles open, where as before it had taped off non essential aisles.

CodyBurns · 03/01/2021 13:42

Total lockdown. One person allowed out to shop and numbers of people in shops at any one time strictly monitored. No sale of non essential goods. Schools closed for a month. Exercise only with your household and only within a few mile radius of your home. It’s draconian, but we’re out of options other than locking people in their homes for 10 days.

Yohoheaveho · 03/01/2021 13:44

The idea of not being able to go outdoors is very upsetting 🙁

wowfudge · 03/01/2021 13:44

No takeaway beer from pubs.

Keepdistance · 03/01/2021 13:44

If i were them i would require masks on kids in supermarkets etc/public transport. over age 5.
And yes stop scouts and kids activities.
Playgrounds not sure. Maybe they should swab some. But im convinced it will survive much longer especially on metal equipment in thus cold weather and nobody hand gels kids hands.
New york seems to do well and there kids have masks when out and about.

They need to close all primary for 10-14 days after new year

spababe · 03/01/2021 13:45

@HopeYourHighHorseBucks ahhh I'm in Tier 3 today so didn't know that sorry.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 03/01/2021 13:45

Not this again. If a shop is open and sells something then what's the harm? Should my local corner shop stop selling ice cream and cake despite having it in stock? Surely it's better to sell it than throw it away.

DayBath · 03/01/2021 13:47

One way systems reintroduced in shops? Our Tesco got rid of all the floor markings ages ago. Seems pointless but it's one thing they could reintroduce I suppose.

CodyBurns · 03/01/2021 13:48

@PinkSparklyPussyCat “ Not this again. If a shop is open and sells something then what's the harm”

Because it encourages people to go to the shops for something to do rather than essential shopping.

GreenClock · 03/01/2021 13:54

I’m hearing tales of people who could work from home being forced into work by micromanaging bosses. That needs to stop. The guidance across all four nations of the UK is clear: WFH if you can. I think that businesses should need to justify in writing precisely why people can’t.

The definition of “essential” should be clarified and the likes of The Range excluded. It should incorporate food, pet supplies, baby supplies and pharmacy only, pretty much.

Plumbers, carpenters etc only do emergency work, where there is risk to life or serious risk to property.

Pause professional sport.

Just until end February, in conjunction with a very swift vaccination of vulnerable programme, with jabs being administered during the evenings and at weekends. It’s tough but doable.

I'm disabled and really struggled with the one way system, it leaves me having to walk a lot further than I can normally. So then I end up using a wheelchair which limits how much I can buy, and makes me visit the shop more often.
