Jobseeker19 · 30/12/2020 16:55

Really shocked Greenwich isn’t on the list, QEH declared a crisis the other day.

ChloeDecker · 30/12/2020 17:31

@2bedammed

Ridiculous that Greenwich is not included
Gav holding a grudge!!???
NeverDropYourMoonCup · 30/12/2020 17:32
The list is here www-thesun-co-uk.cdn.ampproject.org/v/s/www.thesun.co.uk/news/politics/13604134/covid-schools-final-decision-kids-mutant-delayed/amp/?amp_js_v=a6&amp_gsa=1&usqp=mq331AQHKAFQArABIA%3D%3D#aoh=16093485865847&referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com&amp_tf=From%20%251%24s&ampshare=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.thesun.co.uk%2Fnews%2Fpolitics%2F13604134%2Fcovid-schools-final-decision-kids-mutant-delayed%2F
That article is a bit confusing shockingly written . All schools in my area must close, except they will be open, but they won't? Except they will for some years and they won't and it'll be looked at again in a fortnight?

I'm not going to even think about it until I get a message from my Head. Which I would imagine will happen once they've actually been told what the announcement means, had lots of Zoom meetings with the Governors, sworn a few times and then decided to do what is for the best.

AutoIncorrect · 30/12/2020 17:32

Gav is holding a grudge for sure, doesn’t want to back down to Danny Thorpe.

whatwouldyoudo85 · 30/12/2020 17:34

*I'm in Redbridge and we're not on that list. I'm betting that it isn't the complete list and they'll 'amend' it shortly...

All the boroughs around us with lower cases are on the list confused*

Same! It must be a mistake, surely? We have one of the highest rates in the country.

wondering if I know you in real life...

Biscuitsneeded · 30/12/2020 17:35

Greenwich and Redbridge are probably being punished.

FuckeryOmbudsman · 30/12/2020 17:35

@AutoIncorrect

Lambeth isnt on either, which makes sod all sense as all the surrounding boroughs are, and the rates are similar and the hospitals are the same.

Crappy proof reading?

Timbucktime · 30/12/2020 17:39

@toobusytothink

Bucks just declared “major incident” so surely Bucks too??
Bucks is so big so may be not. It doesn’t take much for Stoke Mandaville to be overwhelmed as it has to cater for about 3/4 of the county.
Eggsley · 30/12/2020 17:43

@Timbucktime just Milton Keynes so far in Bucks.

mrshoho · 30/12/2020 17:45

I wonder what the criteria is for these areas. My borough Harrow is not on it and we're on 715 per 100k. Brent is on it and their rate is 700. In fact All surrounding boroughs and home counties are there apart from us Confused

helloxhristmas · 30/12/2020 17:48

Lewisham also not on there.

Published in haste with no sense check?

bathsh3ba · 30/12/2020 17:49

That list doesn't mention secondary though?

snowballer · 30/12/2020 17:51

Fuck me. My borough is on the list and has the lowest rate in our county. Meanwhile three other boroughs whose rates are far higher are nowhere to be seen.

2bedammed · 30/12/2020 17:59

What borough are you in snowballer?

fastwigglylines · 30/12/2020 18:08

OK, so of the areas that were reported as being the worst hit in the media this week, all except 1 are on the list:

Redbridge isn't, but the following all are:

Barking and Dagenham
Basildon
Bexley
Brentwood
Broxbourne
Castle Point
Dartford
Enfield
Epping Forest
Harlow
Hastings
Havering
Hertsmere
Medway
Newham
Rochford
Southend on Sea
Thurrock
Tower Hamlets

In addition, these areas are also on the list. Does anyone know why they've chosen these, specifically?

Ashford
Barnet
Braintree
Brent
Bromley
Chelmsford
Croydon
Ealing
Gravesham
Hammersmith and Fulham
Hillingdon
Hounslow
Kensington and Chelsea
Maidstone
Maldon
Merton
Milton Keynes
Richmond-Upon-Thames
Rother
Sevenoaks
Southwark
Sutton
Swale
Three Rivers
Tonbridge and Malling
Tunbridge Wells
Waltham Forest
Wandsworth
Watford
Westminster

SquirmOfEels · 30/12/2020 18:11

@bathsh3ba

That list doesn't mention secondary though?
This document mentions secondaries

www.gov.uk/government/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-contingency-framework-for-education-and-childcare-settings/contingency-framework-education-and-childcare-settings-excluding-universities

And I guess it is meant to be read in parallel, with same boroughs activating the contingency plan

Secondary schools
Where the contingency framework is implemented, secondary schools should only allow vulnerable children, children of critical workers, pupils in years 11 and 13 and other pupils due to take external exams this academic year, to attend. High-quality remote education should be provided for all other pupils

They really could have made the announcement considerably clearer.

Is there any kind MNetter who speaks fluent DofE who could tell us what they actually mean?

FreiasBathtub · 30/12/2020 18:12

I'm in Waltham Forest (one of the three rebel boroughs before Xmas) and am not surprised we are in but am VERY surprised that Redbridge isn't. I wonder whether it's to do with hospital capacity? I know Whipps is really stretched at the moment. I wonder how much input the LAs had to the decision.

Magpiecomplex · 30/12/2020 18:36

@fastwigglylines that list almost looks like it's already slightly out of date. Most of West Kent is in your second group (Sevenoaks, Maidstone, Tonbridge, Tunbridge Wells) so I guess looking at the way the new variant seems to be rippling out from Medway they think these areas are still at risk of going up again. The gov.uk interactive map (week out of date) shows them going down again.

snowballer · 30/12/2020 18:37

@2bedammed

Tunbridge Wells

PoopySalata · 30/12/2020 19:10

Redbridge is now on there, hastily added to the bottom of the list Wink

2bedammed · 30/12/2020 19:12

Was Redbridge not on there originally? So weird?

fastwigglylines · 30/12/2020 19:23

Redbridge definitely wasn't there earlier.

An oversight? A hastily rushed out list?

Who knows. Doesn't exactly I inspire confidence though, does it?

Marv1nGay3 · 30/12/2020 19:29

We had a message from DD’s primary school at 17.50 saying that only key workers children and vulnerable children would be going back until further notice. We are in Hounslow borough.
