We’ll be told they had underlying health conditions this drives me insane, so many of us have underlying health conditions and we don’t even know.

ChasingRainbows19 · 30/12/2020 17:20

My sibling works in a north west school and has been worried for months. Lots of bubbles popping and isolation. Plus staff testing positive too.

Freddiefox · 30/12/2020 17:21

@Todayisgood2

Yes, I'm feeling rage at all the thank the teachers stuff too- I'm special needs primary and 2 dc primary. I too feel shat on *@Freddiefox*....🙄
@Todayisgood2

I’m sorry, it’s awful. I have started to look for a new job, and hoping one will come along quick.

I love my job, and I’m good at it. But this is too much.

In the meant time I will continue to wear a mask and from Monday I might throw a visor in.

Freddiefox · 30/12/2020 17:22

@IDSNeighbour

Very worried, yes. But not about catching Covid, about coping with not being at school. Sounds pathetic but school is the only thing I have in my life at the moment!
I’m Sorry to hear that, it’s been an awful time.
HipTightOnions · 30/12/2020 17:22

Yes I am. Late 50s and clinically vulnerable.

PandemicPavolova · 30/12/2020 17:23

Why didn't they ask students to wear a mask or visa?

IndecentFeminist · 30/12/2020 17:25

Yes, I may well catch it. (Primary). My only real risk factor is that I'm a bit fat. I'd rather not of course, but my practical head says that even if I did, the odds are stacked in my favour that I'd be ok.

Yellredder · 30/12/2020 17:27

College tutor. Can't believe I've not caught it yet. Am going to be in an increased risk area this coming term. I am CV. Am also resigned to getting it.

OppsUpsSide · 30/12/2020 17:28

Yes, not for me but incase me or DC spread to my parents who have been absolutely selfless in letting us moving in with them due to DV.
I don’t know where else to go

Why didn't they ask students to wear a mask or visa?*

Because they actually don’t really care if you or the children catch it. They just have to look like they do. They are more concerned about league tables and tax payers.

KatherineOfGaunt · 30/12/2020 17:30

I'm only worried in that my DH is very anxious about one of us getting it as he struggles being on his own, so if one of us did end up being in hospital he would suffer mentally.

OverTheRainbow88 · 30/12/2020 17:30

I’m trying to be as healthy as possible, taking daily vit D, multi vits; avoiding seeing my parents and praying for the best.

DBML · 30/12/2020 17:31

This did tickle me though...

Any of you school staff feeling a bit worried?
Positivevibesonlyplease · 30/12/2020 17:33

Yes. Many pupil and staff cases in our area before Christmas. That’s just going to rise. I genuinely feel that a high proportion of school staff will die in comparison to many other occupations.

SaltyAF · 30/12/2020 17:34

I'm worried but resigned to it. Those screaming at is because we're lazy bastards can whistle for work once I get ill. I won't be doing it.

Ledkr · 30/12/2020 17:34

Oh its ok. Schools are safe, according to BJ Hmm

Im a bit down about it. We go into 3 schools between us and as result most of our relatives wont see us for the risk of transmission. They mainly work from home and meet for outdoor walks within the regs but they wont risk seeing us. We are tier 4 but not a hotspot. Im not in a classroom as im admin but i do first aid and lunch/break with a year group bubble. It is going round my bubble.

rc22 · 30/12/2020 17:36

I've spent an awful lot of time recently self-isolating because of bubbles bursting. Frustrating but can cope with it. I caught covid way back in the first lockdown doing key worker childcare so I don't particularly worry about catching it now.

Freddiefox · 30/12/2020 17:36

He just said that didn’t he? Lies lies and more lies
ChristmasinJune · 30/12/2020 17:37

I'm worried as I'm higher risk and also my heart's sinking a bit at the thought of another term managing with skeleton staff. It's my job though and I'll have got over it by Monday.

Bonkerz · 30/12/2020 17:38

I'm a childminder. In very close contact with up to 5 children every day. This can't be avoided. The risk is coming into my home daily.
I've also had Covid. We closed for 2 weeks in November due to my own children having a positive test. Only one minded child has had covid though.
I fear my buisness and only income as a single parent will be closing a lot more in the next few months.

In contrast my friend who is a TA in a school has only SI once since September and her school had only had one bubble close.

Positivevibesonlyplease · 30/12/2020 17:38

@PandemicPavolova You mean a visor. A visa wouldn’t really offer much protection at all.

DBML · 30/12/2020 17:38

@SaltyAF

Yep. I’ve said a few times I’m looking to get out of teaching...been teaching for 20 years. I get excellent GCSE and A Level results consistently and the highest residuals in my school. I’ve always put my heart and soul in to my work and given up weekends, holidays and evenings to get the absolute best out of my pupils.

I can’t do it anymore. I only feel inclined to do the bare minimum. I hate what has happened to teaching anyway over the last few years, but the pandemic and how we’ve been treated has put the nail in the coffin for me.

Bluewavescrashing · 30/12/2020 17:39

Fuck yes. Primary schools have no testing, no distancing, no ppe.

PandemicPavolova · 30/12/2020 17:41

Sam said.... Stop your transmission.

Re visors have you not been so close to pupils that they spit on you?.
I have and a visor will catch those drops, and stop that direct covid blast into the mouth , nose and eyes.

Better than nothing?
