I think I need to test but I'm so scared

I'm sat here on my own. My kids are still in bed. I've had mild cold symptoms a couple of days but this morning I woke up with my chest drenched in sweat. The thermometer says I don't have a fever but I've never woken up like that before. No cough yet or loss of taste but I have that end of cold taste and tickle in my throat. I have to test, don't I, but I'm so scared.

So your anxious and worried and havent gone out anywhere etc etc...but you broke the rules and had your parents stay over for 3 days at christmas??

migmogmash · 29/12/2020 13:49

@VeganCow

are people lying about their symptoms on the app so they can get a test as so many are getting tested without the 3 symptoms?
No- we had an outbreak within our work team (NHS) which first became apparent when a couple of people using the lateral flow tests got a positive reading. Our trust then asked for everyone to get tested regardless of whether they had symptoms or not. When booking a test there are other reasons where it will let you book that don't include the 3 symptoms (as it happens, I had a temp, but others who came back positive had none of the 3. Mainly headache, exhaustion, muscle aches)

@ilikewinter - which rules did she break if she is in a support bubble with her parents?

bathsh3ba · 29/12/2020 14:37

I didn't break the rules. We've been in a support bubble since they were first allowed. We meet about once a month usually.

I was anxious about it but let my parents choose since the primary risk is to them. They chose to come.

Op, it could be peri menopausal. You are not too young at all. Mine started at 34. I've also had cv. I was sweating then shivering, first symptom was diarrhoea then headaches followed by hot chest and back. Single parent too so understand how you feel. My symptoms lasted over 6 months. If you're positive, my advice is rest up as much as possible, drink and eat as normal even though you feel crap. If I was hungry, my symptoms got a whole lot worse. And keep calm.

Newnamedillydally · 29/12/2020 15:05

I tested positive a few days ago and have been having night sweats since which is not normal for me. So it absolutely could be Covid. Either way, good luck.

OP I’m sorry you are feeling unwell and worried about this. It’s really hard especially when you have children to care for. It’s also horrible to reach out for support and kindness and have the unkind remarks some people have made here. Thinking of you

JEE87 · 29/12/2020 21:00

@WunWun

Please don't waste NHS resources when you don't need the test. You have none of the symptoms needed to test.
@WunWun Sorry I think your wrong & I think this is why it's spreading like wildfire!! The last week I know 3 people who have tested positive from headaches, bodyachs & colds! One of them was going around doing normal day to day things then tested positive on the 4th day!!
Mrbob · 29/12/2020 21:17

The 3 symptom thing is a pile of shite. People can be asymptomatic. People can present with gastro symptoms. People can present with a mild scratchy throat. People can have a fever and nothing else. People can just have body aches. This myth presented by the government is yet another fuck up on their behalf meaning a whole heap of people who have "non typical" symptoms haven't been tested and therefore haven't been isolating. The government is beyond incompetent. OP I hop

Mrbob · 29/12/2020 21:18

Sorry didn't finish -OP I hope you are ok and negative but always better to know

bathsh3ba · 30/12/2020 06:29

@VeganCow

are people lying about their symptoms on the app so they can get a test as so many are getting tested without the 3 symptoms?
My partner lied and was positive. My friends mum lied and was positive. My friends daughter lied and was positive. Forget the main 3. Its bollocks.
Northernsoullover · 30/12/2020 11:28

I'm glad you are negative OP.
