Is it risky to going to a supermarket? (Covid)

No more risky than anything else, as long as you are sensible. Most people don’t have any choice!

It's riskier than getting shopping delivered or click and collect.

Mask up and wash and antibac your hands before and after. No riskier than anything else.

Obviously starving would be less risky?

You can reduce risk by going at antisocial hours too.

Everything in life has a risk, including crossing the road

Personally, I choose going to the supermarket over taking slots from those who genuinely need them, or starvation

What's the "anything else?"

The only thing more risky than supermarkets (we have home delivery) that we do is schools. Theyre 1000× riskier than everything it feels. So we're minimising all other risk.

There's stories on here/elsewhere of a supermarket being the only place people have been. So we're avoiding it. Any indoor enclosed space is risky

(I am clinically vulnerable just to add.) If I were under 50 with no risk factors I think Id just "be snesible" with mask and distancing but acce0t it is likely to be a mild illness...

Yes it is really dangerous. Stay at home.

I’m shielded.
In the letter it specifically says to avoid shops so I do as much as possible.
If I have to go, I go extremely late at night.

You have to eat! I've been going to the supermarket approx twice weekly since March. I usually go late at night. I don't think it's especially risky.

Of course it is. Everything in life is risky.

Are you worried? I’m not worried at all in the supermarket. Or anywhere else, now I think about it but I’m not vulnerable nor is anyone close to me.

I've not been in a supermarket since March... much prefer getting shopping delivered as the risk is definitely lower.

The last time I went to a supermarket is about 2 months ago and I saw 2 people come in after me who didn't use the hand sanitiser or wipe down the trolley handles. Freaked me out thinking they were going around the shop handling goods. I also avoid being in an enclosed space with others. Luckily my DD can add my shopping onto her delivery.

Guess it's risky having deliveries that could have been packed by someone with Covid. So what are you gong to do - starve until it goes away? Or stop over-reacting?

Definitely, especially Asda. Dodgy types in there.

Well, I have been to Asda at least once a week since March and am yet to be struck down with anything. I even went when we didn't have to wear masks.

I also don't use hand sanitiser in the shop. Because I use my own, which is probably better than the watered down crap in there.

I don't want to start getting scared about going to the supermarket.
That way mental health suffers.
I have a supermarket within a 10 minute walk.
If I've got my mask on, I do my social distancing, that's all we can do really?

Don’t stand within 1m of anyone else for 1 minute (or 2m for twenty minutes) and you’ll be fine.

I’ve been going to the supermarket 1-2 times per week since March. I have not had covid.

I prefer to leave delivery slots for those who are less physically able to get to the shops or who might wish not to do so because they are in a higher risk group.

I’ve never personally felt at any great risk in the supermarket. I have worn a mask since they became mandatory and any interaction with others is fleeting.

At the start of the pandemic I did wipe down my shopping and change my clothes after visiting the supermarket. I then realised that was insane and stopped; I’ve felt a lot happier and more relaxed since doing so.

Definitely get deliveries instead of going in person if you can. It took me a while to get it going but I'm now 4-5 weeks in advance with my slots at any time so able to get the same day and time every week now - it makes meal planning easier, too. If I have to go in between I try to go late at night when it's super quiet.

Well you have to go?! I posted on my local Facebook group a positive comment about my Tesco’s shop and got told that people should be leaving slots for the vulnerable 🙄
