Sorry if this has already been done.
Getting covid jab next week.
Just wondering if anyone has had any reaction to it ?

My dad just had a very sore arm - sore enough to warrant pain relief.

Lumene · 27/12/2020 20:29

85 year old friend had it with no issues at all.

jcyclops · 27/12/2020 20:38

No medical issues of note, but I keep getting the urge to buy Microsoft products.

EwDavid · 27/12/2020 20:42

I had mine done last week on the same day as my friend (both nurses). I was fine, a bit tired but nothing significant. She felt really quite unwell the following day and about 24 hours later developed quite bad facial swelling which she was given antihistamines for at a&e. She will still be allowed the second injection though.

Premiumbond · 27/12/2020 21:43

Bit of a sore arm, same as the flu jab. That's it.

GrinGrinHow are you enjoying your 5g upgrade?

My Auntie's arm and shoulder ached for a few days, she's disabled in her arm and can't move it, so that didn't help. She's still begging me to get it done soon as offered, so clearly hasn't been put off.

sandieshaw · 27/12/2020 21:53

A close family member had their first jab a couple of weeks ago (NHS worker in a high risk category). They said their arm was very sore afterwards, so much so that they struggled to lie in bed the first night. But other than that it was all fine.

BunsyGirl · 27/12/2020 21:55

@EwDavid has your friend previously had facial fillers as I’ve read that they can react to the vaccine?

MrsBeltane · 27/12/2020 21:56

I had a slight headache immediately after the injection and an achey arm for a few days.

Scarby9 · 27/12/2020 21:56

A friend described her arm as 'warm' but said that is always how she felt after an injection.

I had flu and whooping cough vaccines a few weeks ago - one in each arm - and found it painful to sleep on for a few days. Whooping cough worse though so slept on the flu side Grin. At least this one will only be in one arm when I eventually get it!

Makingnumber2 · 27/12/2020 22:01

DM and DAunt both had first doses- DM (nurse) said her arm was very sore and painful after, more than she expected. Aside from that no side effects.

ineedaholidaynow · 27/12/2020 22:01

My DM had some aches the next day but otherwise was fine

Iremembertheelderlykoreanlady · 27/12/2020 22:07

Flu jab always makes it sore to lie on that arm for a few days. Doesn't put me off having it.

ejaudhekusjwksnsh · 27/12/2020 22:07

Two relatives have had it, one for age and one because of their job, no side effects for either.

chocolateoranges33 · 27/12/2020 22:09

My sister (care worker) had it done on the 18th. No effects at all - not even a sore arm. Said it was the least painful jab shes ever had.

In fairness I needed pain relief after my pneumonia jab last year! Didn't hurt at all getting it done. But the day after I felt like someone had run over my arm. So I think that level of pain can be common from a jab.

You've read that ....

Did the "Daily Mail" give the source of this fake news rumour?

itsgettingweird · 27/12/2020 22:25

I've previously has extremely painful arm after flu jab and other times nothing.

I was to,d it wasn't the jab as such but how relaxed your muscles were, the exact spot given and sometimes how good the nurse is.

The last one may be because it was the nurse who gave me the painless one I asked Grin

Don't know how true it is but apparently if you drink loads and are more hydrated the less bruising you get.

I had this last year with the flu jab but was pregnant (hence jab) so didn't take anything. It hurt for a week though - I moaned about it so much. And it went red and a big lump appeared - I was quite pathetic about it. The midwife was unconcerned the next month when I saw her again and said it's usually normal 😳

DH has had it but the Moderna one (we are not in the UK). No side effects.

RuthW · 27/12/2020 22:40

Very sore arm

EmmaGellerGreen · 27/12/2020 22:41

Mum (80) had it a week ago. No side effects at all. She actually forgot until she saw the plaster in the shower!
