Will they open in January or are we thinking it’s unlikely? One of us is a key worker, the other one isn’t.

I don’t get why a private business would be any different. It’s the same as a private school doing temp checks and wearing PPE if they want surely? And some do.

And higher cost means higher staff to child ratio so it is linked.

@Mamagotskills

If I could effectively work from home without nursery I wouldn’t have been paying them £1k a month for the privilege... this with set women in particular back even further in the workplace
Exactly this! I have a just turned one year old and a 3.5year old. The younger can get himself into trouble in the time it takes me to go for a wee, I can’t do a full days work even if it is at home while I’m also minding two children. Luckily during the first lockdown I was on maternity leave, but if nurseries close again I don’t know what I’ll do as my employers aren’t in the furlough scheme

I am confident in the procedures at my nursery- lots of extra cleaning, temp checks, outside time, small bubbles etc. Not a single case. I can’t see what the justification for its closure would be.

I really hope nurseries don't close. I'm heavily pregnant and just started Maternity Leave.

My little boy has just turned 3 and has already missed out on so much this year. Nursery gives him essential socialisation and chances to learn, play and just be a normal child.
I do worry about Covid but don't know how I'll manage with a newborn and toddler at home during lockdown/strict restrictions. Until DS returned to nursery in September I worked full time, did a full time degree and looked after him at home. It was horrendous. I don't want him to suffer anymore.

Nursery haven't had a single case since reopening in June and certainly don't want to close either.
