An Easter break in the uk and a summer break in Normandy. Wonder if they’ll happen, what d’ya reckon?

(both are fully refundable until 24 hours before, so not worried about the ££)

Maybe we should place bets Grin

We have a few uk holidays booked in our touring caravan, all no deposit and can be changed easily, first one in March

pollylocketpickedapocket · 24/12/2020 19:04

Hope so I’ve got 3 booked. From July onwards, managed to go to Crete in august, I’m very hopeful

FelineUK · 25/12/2020 14:00

I'm holding off until the new year - we usually book road trips through 1 or 2 countries which includes a good deal of planning so I just want to be sure not only about getting a vaccine in case it's needed for travel but also being aware of any challenges Brexit may bring. Hoping to have first holiday in May but if necessary it may need to be shifted to Sept/Oct.

Oblomov20 · 25/12/2020 14:12

Our repeating Dorset caravan for both May Bank holidays looks unlikely.

chocolatesaltyxmaspudballs · 25/12/2020 14:16

I intend to book more than two! Fingers crossed for you.

I booked eight holidays in 2020. EIGHT! I managed to get on two of them.

Lovemusic33 · 25/12/2020 14:20

We will be booking uk holidays in our campervan.

We managed 3 trips away this year and 2 others cancelled, the 2 cancelled were hotel breaks. Hoping all camp sites will be open by the Easter holidays.

Deadringer · 25/12/2020 19:05

I have Amsterdam booked for a few days in August, haven't told any of the family yet in case we have to cancel. 🤞

tinytemper66 · 25/12/2020 19:16

My holiday to Sorrento from August has been rebooked to August 2021. Fingers crossed.

uggmum · 25/12/2020 19:18

I lost 7 holidays this year.

But I have not given up. I have booked 2 for 2021

New York in September
Mauritius in October

Hoping to go somewhere in April for a week and a couple of city breaks too.

Both holidays are refundable.

So far today I have had emails from jet2, TUI and first choice. All trying to persuade me to book. These companies are desperate.

So fingers crossed we can travel next year

Littleyell · 25/12/2020 19:18

I have Turkey booked in May before the pandemic happened! I’m hoping it goes ahead.

Treeerex · 25/12/2020 19:22

I've just seen an advert for jet2 Holidays and thought to myself 'what idiot would book a holiday now' Grin

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 25/12/2020 19:36

Planning to book a cottage in the UK for August over the next few days. The company will refund in the event that covid restrictions don't allow us to travel. We won't mind if not much is open - just as long as we can visit the off licence and takeaway. I'd rather book early as getting a cottage this summer was tricky and we only managed a long weekend.

If overseas travel looks safe and reasonable we'll try for something last - minute to a less on-demand destination, probably Germany.

XmasLockdown · 25/12/2020 20:25

We haven't booked yet but plan to go to Finland in July.

Monkeytapper · 25/12/2020 20:30

We have Fuerteventura booked for Easter. Balance due 1st Jan. think we are going to cancel it and lose deposit. We could postpone it but we already have 2 postponed holidays for later on in year that we have already moved.
The cost of covid tests and worrying about if they come back in time and the uncertainty is putting me off. The holiday has already gone up by £1k so if we do cancel it and it things do get better at Easter I will be a bit miffed as would be expensive to rebook it as a last minute holiday.

bluetongue · 25/12/2020 22:46

I’ve got a holiday fund and am saving up for a big trip in early 2022. It may or may not happen but at least it’s something to look forward to. In the meantime the money is offset against my mortgage so it’s a win whatever happens Grin

Was originally hoping to go to New Zealand from Australia in 2021 but vaccine rollout isn’t likely to start here until March so I’m not getting my hopes up.

Even travel between states here is a gamble as the borders can shut with less than a day’s notice if an outbreak happens. Still hoping to visit Tasmania in a March or April then hopefully meeting up with friends in the Snowy Mountains in August.

@tinytemper66

My holiday to Sorrento from August has been rebooked to August 2021. Fingers crossed.
We went to Sorrento in October. Beautiful. Best food I've ever eaten.
PinkSparklyPussyCat · 26/12/2020 10:30

I've got 4 UK holidays booked next year. The terms and conditions state we can have a refund, move the holiday or hold the payment on account so we can move it from one holiday to the next. I'm not optimistic the weekend in March will go ahead but I'm hopeful for the others, especially as we're hoping to be area and house hunting when we're away.

SallyCinnamon3009 · 27/12/2020 18:42

We've one in May that was out back from last May for OH big birthday. We're then waiting for free child places in October and booking a back up

Lemons1571 · 27/12/2020 19:26

@PinkSparklyPussyCat isn’t activity related to a house move an exception? I’m sure I saw house hunting or similar as an ok reason to leave your home. Not sure if hotel stays for the same reason are also ok.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 27/12/2020 20:05

@Lemons1571 we're planning on going and visiting different towns in the area we want to move to as we're not sure exactly where we want to go yet so we wouldn't technically be moving at that point. Maybe I should start a thread asking for advice!

Lemons1571 · 27/12/2020 20:44

@PinkSparklyPussyCat

This is the guidance for all 4 tiers: (including on hotel stays)

Viewings should be arranged by appointment only and ‘open house’ viewings should not take place. When viewing properties in person, you should avoid touching surfaces wherever possible, wash your hands regularly and/or use hand sanitiser. If you need to be accompanied by small children, you should try to keep them from touching surfaces and ensure they wash their hands regularly.
Hotels, hostels and other such public accommodation can be used by people to move home in all 4 Tiers. There is no guarantee a particular hotel will be open to provide this service, so do check in advance. You should still ensure you stay within your household and/or support bubble if this is required in the relevant tiers. Identify which tier you are in and which tier you are moving to, and see the guidance on support bubbles.
Second homes and other private accommodation can be used to facilitate physical viewings of properties, preparing a property for sale and moving your belongings. You should still ensure you stay within your household and/or support bubble if this is required in the relevant tiers. Identify which tier you are in and which tier you are moving to, and see the guidance on support bubbles.

Thanks for that @Lemons1571, that's really useful.

I hope you get both your holidays next year

tinytemper66 · 27/12/2020 21:10

@chocolatesalty which hotel did you stay in? We have been before and stayed in the Bristol, which we have booked again. The food was amazing and the hotel in a ideal spot.

We stayed at the Grand Hotel Aminta. It was further up that hill than the Bristol but was worth it as the views were amazing. There's a shuttle bus (free) if you don't want to walk into town.

Hairbrush123 · 28/12/2020 22:41

I’ve booked something for February 2021 & October 2021! Hopefully they go ahead!
