I wonder if there's truth in this.
It seems to be a habit of gov. to leak things to the press first.
To prepare us for bad news

Yes, I know some schools are doing a phased return.
When we broke up on the 17, we were still returning on the 4.
Obviously that might change but some secondary schools are going back as planned.
I work in a ALP / SEN school though.

I actually had a fantasy earlier of sitting in a beer garden in the warm sun with friends, or a bbq at home! First time I've felt properly shit about this virus and this shit year. Couldn't be more bored of it all

Same here. I keep on watching old films / tv programme and feel a bit surprised when people aren’t socially distancing. I have to remind myself that we used to skip in to a room and shake hands/ hug people without even thinking about it. So fed up with the awkward space keeping and I want to go out for dinner and have cocktails.

@PhilCornwall1 is that a 2020 thing,or a standard Johnson Christmas?;🤔🤪

Hmmmm. Dare I think about that one.

@ASchuylerSister

I’ve warned my secondary kids to be prepared that they may have to move to online learning a bit.

I’d rather they had a bit of notice to mentally prepare than Boris announcing at 10pm on Sunday 10th that they aren’t actually going back to school.

same. this new strain ....plus gov never seem to be ahead of the game so last minute is to be expected
gingercat02 · 22/12/2020 08:20

Tier 4 everywhere in the new year and schools out (So full lockdown) before Feb half term I reckon

SilverGlitterBaubles · 22/12/2020 08:27

I wouldn't be surprised if it happened a lot sooner than this the way the numbers are going. I this basis I am going to do all remaining Christmas stuff today followed by a coffee and cake in my favourite cafe.

The central heating was making a low hum and I imagined I was sat in an aeroplane heading off Somewhere. Anywhere.

You know things are bad when you fantasize about being on a cramped plane.

Like someone else said, announcement on 24th, complete lockdown on 26th like we had in March.

I don’t think the government can wait much longer. The R rate in the South East especially is dire. Really, lockdown should have been last Saturday after the schools finished. And people should not be mixing inside over Christmas no matter which tier they’re in. It’s a recipe for disaster. 😏

Tangerines2021 · 22/12/2020 08:34

I suspect they won’t announce it until after Christmas - it will be the usual deflated Boxing Day feeling x 10000

PhilCornwall1 · 22/12/2020 08:39

If it's happening, it'll be before the 31st for sure.

jomaIone · 22/12/2020 08:42

Wales already in lockdown, Northern Ireland and Scotland starting lockdown 0600 on Boxing Day... You'd be a fool not to believe England will follow suit. Inevitable and predictable.

SilverGlitterBaubles · 22/12/2020 08:53

You know things are bad when you fantasize about being on a cramped plane.

I have been watching a lot of travel shows and even Airport/ Border Control shows just to fantasise about the whole travel experience Grin

Waxonwaxoff0 · 22/12/2020 09:06

I wish they'd let us know about schools, as a working parent of a primary age child (I can't work from home) I would like to know sooner rather than later how screwed I am. Sad

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 22/12/2020 09:10

If they are going to do it, it needs to be from the 26th to stop the extended Christmas mixing that will happen.

Me too I was watching old 1996 east Enders and what I would give to go back I can't bear social distancing I need to hug
Spiratedaway · 22/12/2020 09:19

Laughing at these I actually can't wait to get back on a packed train

Nerdygirl · 22/12/2020 09:19

I am assuming this would happen and have been preparing my kids not to go back in January and move to online learning . I think it’s inevitable for a period of time

Blue1316 · 22/12/2020 09:36

I can’t work full time from home and provide childcare and home school 2 primary school aged DC again. Last time nearly broke me and I can’t do it again. If this is the case I may have to hand in my notice for the sake of my own mental health.

I was the same it was impossible I just cannot work
kittensarecute · 22/12/2020 10:35

I'm done.
I can't carry on.
I've got nothing to look forward to and no reason to be here.

Sad
kittensarecute · 22/12/2020 10:38

I just need to hold on til after xmas day.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 22/12/2020 10:42

A memory just popped up on my fb of my works Xmas do last year. I love my colleagues, they are all great friends.

We are hugging, kissing, sat on each other’s knees, arms round each other etc.

I couldn’t stand to look at it😭

Coldwinterahead1 · 22/12/2020 11:05

I still think that we will be being cautious this time next year but I think we will have a better Xmas 2021. I think we have changed for good as a society, I can't stand the thought of being in crowded areas anymore.
