Actually credit to Johnson he's putting peoples health first when he knows it won't be a popular policy. Thank goodness.

I agree with this. People were taking no notice of "using your common sense" so I am pleased to see a bit of balls being used.

blackbearder · 19/12/2020 16:24

Don't think I can listen to BOJO anymore.. anyone else?

Quads4x4 · 19/12/2020 16:24

Ridiculous rules.
You know whats coming, closed schools.

perditaplum · 19/12/2020 16:24

We're in a tier 1 area (a bit outing, I think there is only 1) and were seeing my DD on Boxing Day because she's working on Xmas Day. Am I right in thinking that we now can't do this?

lannister · 19/12/2020 16:25

@DivisionBelles tomorrow morning

Rinoachicken · 19/12/2020 16:25

What does ‘stay local’ mean?? How far is not local??

Florelei · 19/12/2020 16:25

It better not be tier 4 in the north east.

multivac · 19/12/2020 16:25

@AaronPurr

All current tier 3 are going into tier 4.

I really don't think that's what he said at all. Confused

No. Only London, SE and E tier 3 is moving. It was very clear.
tactum · 19/12/2020 16:25

talks about protecting people's health for the future...what about those who are dying now because of delays in cancer treatment? Am I not supposed to travel to see my brother on his last Christmas? I haven't seen him for 5 months cos of local restrictions, and haven't touched him since last Christmas. Fuck that for a shitshow.

Plussizejumpsuit · 19/12/2020 16:25

@BangingOn

Tier 3 areas in London and SE going into Tier 4, not all current Tier 3 areas.
That's what I heard.
RememberSelfCompassion · 19/12/2020 16:26

I'm not sure about schools. They'd have mentioned that by now wouldnt they? Boris didn't announce that.

Quads4x4 · 19/12/2020 16:26

Ugh will ikea and b&q close then?

AaronPurr · 19/12/2020 16:26

No. Only London, SE and E tier 3 is moving. It was very clear.

That's what I thought, hence my confusion over Lougle's post.

Lougle · 19/12/2020 16:26

Ok, perhaps I misheard. So tier 3 in the North will stay tier 3?

midscram · 19/12/2020 16:26

Do we think support bubbles include childcare ones?

BonnieDundee · 19/12/2020 16:26

Buffett for 16! This is why we are in this firkin mess!

No it isnt.

LadyLazaruss · 19/12/2020 16:26

@Lougle

Ok, perhaps I misheard. So tier 3 in the North will stay tier 3?
Yes.
Fizbosshoes · 19/12/2020 16:27

The map on a slide shown by Patrick valance showed tier 4 covered london, SE, and eastern England, not all tier 3 areas.
New tier 4 starts tomorrow
Tier 4 cannot meet with any other households on xmas day apart from support bubbles.
Other tiers can meet with 2 other households only on xmas day

cptartapp · 19/12/2020 16:27

Only in the SE are TIer 3 going into Tier 4. Not everywhere.
No mixing of households in Tier 4 from tomorrow.
Other Tiers can mix for Xmas day only.
Is that right?

CurlyhairedAssassin · 19/12/2020 16:27

Oh for fuck's sake. This is EXACTLY why it's spread, as people don't seem to understand virus transmission. A bloody BUFFET??? For 16 people?

The whole thing of "just because you CAN mix over Christmas doesn't mean you SHOULD" applies to people exactly like you. It should have been spelled out to people that don't seem to think that plans for a buffet was a terrible idea.

Cam77 · 19/12/2020 16:27

@curlyhairedassassin
We couldn't have stopped the spread.
However acting properly in February and March would have save lives. I'm sure a lot of people who trusted the "carry on as you were - but just wash hands" directive from the government at the beginning of March regret doing so.

SufferingFromLongLockdown · 19/12/2020 16:27

How can they get legislation in place in time for our to come into effect tomorrow morning?

When they cancelled Eid for many families they didn't actually wrote legislation that came into effect until a few days later.

Iamaweirdone · 19/12/2020 16:27

@perditaplum you are right, you can’t see her Boxing Day

starrynight19 · 19/12/2020 16:27

@RememberSelfCompassion hmm I wonder Hmm

blackbearder · 19/12/2020 16:27

See your brother Tactum, take precautions but see your poor brother.
