Has anyone seen this? It is showing I will get my vax over the summer which seems much earlier than I would have thought (40s, no underlying conditions)

Does anyone know anything about this calculator?

www.omnicalculator.com/health/vaccine-queue-uk

NB I do not want to give an false hope, which we’ve had a lot of with the ups and downs of lockdown, so I want to declare I do not know how reliable this is. Can anyone advise?

I wonder if it will be roughly the same all over the country.

DirtyDancing · 18/12/2020 19:19

I think we should place mark our projected dates and then come back when we’ve had the vax. Something to do.. there is v little else to do right now!

Mine says between 18th Dec and 22nd Jan (healthcare worker) but I haven't heard anything about me or my colleagues being offered it yet.

Vinosaurus · 18/12/2020 19:39

Between the 22/12 and 18/01 ... but I can't have the Pfizer one due to having an anaphylactic reaction to an iron infusion last year - so who knows.

GintyMcGinty · 18/12/2020 19:39

March for me.

RememberSelfCompassion · 18/12/2020 19:45

I'm CV and it says March/April. I'd be so unbelievably happy if it could be by Easter. I'm worried this might be optimistic.

I'm so so anxious about kids in school at the moment as I'm worried I might die if I get it - so being v strict about limiting any indoor contact (other than school.)

Thimbleberries · 18/12/2020 20:34

I wonder when they're starting to count the 1-million vaccinations a week from? As clearly it won't be for a while, as there aren't that many available yet.

And how likely is the 1-million vaccinations a week, do we think, if the Oxford vaccine also becomes available? Will that number significantly increase, or is the limit going to be more the resources for organising and giving the vaccine, rather than just supply? Anyone heard anything regarding numbers per week including the Oxford one?

ancientgran · 18/12/2020 20:37

Didn't Hancock say millions would be vaccinated by Christmas? Maybe it was just wishful thinking on my part.

Peakedin1997 · 18/12/2020 20:48

I'm asthmatic and in my 40s and it says I will get it some time next summer. Dp will probably get it first because he's a health care worker and that's reassuring for me because he's probably my main risk of catching it.

Hopefully the virus will die down a lot again next summer so it doesn't make too much difference whether you get the jab in May or September. I will be grateful if I get it at the same time as my flu jab next autumn.

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 18/12/2020 20:57

So I think healthcare worker triggers basically 'you'll get it within the next month'

I'm a nurse but I'm mental health and I don't hold out much hope. I think we will be further down the line but we absolutely are frontline. Inpatient mental health units have been hit hard by covid 19 and it's difficult to contain outbreaks when patients are unwell and don't understand or can't cope with isolation.

I will keep everything crossed 🤞

Karmatime · 18/12/2020 20:59

I’m 55, it told me I’d get it in May, my DP (56) went for his flu jab today and they told him at the GP it’s likely to be February........

JacobReesMogadishu · 18/12/2020 21:36

My hospital are saying end of March for all staff to be done. So if nhs staff won’t be finished until end of March I’m not holding out much hope of the under 50s been done until towards the end of next year.

DirtyDancing · 18/12/2020 21:41

I live in London & I know for a fact my GP had his this week. My DM lives in a small town and today I’ve check with a local Councillor we know there and he said it won’t even start until end Jan there. The local hospital near her doesn’t haven it yet apparently. So it seems like the big hubs have got it and are starting vaccinations, whereby rural / towns are going to be behind...? I presume it is a matter of logistics, distribution, training etc etc. I wish it’s was more consistent

OP posts:
DirtyDancing · 18/12/2020 21:43

@Karmatime is that Feb, 56 with underlying problems or just 56 and all well?

OP posts:
BonnieDundee · 18/12/2020 21:48

It asks if you're a health worker. Theres a difference between a nurse/cleaner on a covid ward and me sitting in my office in a back corridor of the hospital doing admin. But apparently I could be called next week Grin I don't think its accurate at all

Karmatime · 18/12/2020 21:55

@DirtyDancing
56, no underlying health concerns and not NHS worker.
Fingers crossed they are right, the sooner the better!

tobee · 18/12/2020 22:35

I think it's too early too tell if this tool will be accurate. You can piddle about with the details; change uptake and numbers of vaccines administered per week etc.

Also not sure if it's just assuming there's 1 vaccine or if it works differently to that?

Madhairday · 18/12/2020 22:41

I'm CEV and it says end Jan/end Feb, 6-9 million in the queue. I'd be thrilled if it was that soon tbh.

naturalyoghurtmuncher · 18/12/2020 22:49

Mine says between June and September of 2021 😬 I'm not against a vaccine but would wait until 2022 at least as it's new.
I'm assuming it's like a general flu vaccine- might offer protection but might not.

Mammaaof · 18/12/2020 22:50

It says march for me I'm 25 underlying health condition

Herecomethedaffodils · 18/12/2020 23:33

My dad is 83 with no significant health issues. His estimate is between 22nd December and 18th Jan. He had a message this week to book and is indeed booked to have his first vaccine on 22nd December so in his case, it couldn't be more accurate!!! Hopefully as we hear about more and more people having the vaccine, it'll give everyone a boost. Hell we need a boost.

Lucked · 19/12/2020 00:21

Mine says between 23/12/20 and 19/01/21
I actually got it yesterday so we are ahead of the curve.😀

Off to check my mum.

Bayleaf25 · 19/12/2020 08:31

I’m wondering how they know who falls into the obese category? I haven’t been to a GP for a long time let alone been weighed.

User158340 · 19/12/2020 08:43

If Oxford vaccine is rolled out from Jan then these estimates can be achieved.

CherieBabySpliffUp · 19/12/2020 08:53

It's probably been asked already but is the Covid vaccine going to be a yearly thing like the Flu vaccine?
