And as for supporting the government😂😂😂😂don’t make me laugh.

They haven’t done one thing worth supporting since they shambled into power.

MarshaBradyo · 15/12/2020 10:35
Why should l deregister her? What a shit response. She’s entitled to be SAFE at school and she isn’t. And your response is, because she isn’t safe l deregister her. Isn’t the issue safety here? Not deregistering? She wants to keep going. But a closure of 3 weeks or so isn’tthe end of the world.

Research here.

sphr.nihr.ac.uk/news-and-events/new-report-shows-young-peoples-mental-health-improved-during-lockdown/
Arse this was reported in August but conducted in May. They had barely been out of Easter break - it’s not a reflection of hit of prolonged lockdown.

houseinthesnow · 15/12/2020 10:36

The case made back in the summer that thousands of teachers will be keeling over never happened!

All seriously vulnerable families home school anyway.

Gosh do you actually think anyone will fall for this a second time around? Given how impossibly hard it was to reopen in the summer (with almost no cases whatsoever)

Turtleshelly · 15/12/2020 10:37

Us For Them are hypocrites. They’ve complained about the coronavirus act and emergency powers in the past, many of them are against the act
But now it’s been used to keep schools open they’re loving it.
So they live a dictatorship when it suits their ends
Dishonest

houseinthesnow · 15/12/2020 10:37

arse You said her mental health is struggling, that has nothing to do with the safety of school or otherwise!

houseinthesnow · 15/12/2020 10:38

You sound incredibly disingenuous arse

Turtleshelly · 15/12/2020 10:39

We have no idea how many teachers have become ill since September. The ONS and Whitty have misrepresented statistics and we still don’t have this information.

Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.

houseinthesnow · 15/12/2020 10:39

The 'close schools at any cost' cavalry have been rumbled and appear to have disappeared from the thread.

Turtleshelly · 15/12/2020 10:39

I don’t want them closed at any cost. I want them open safely.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 15/12/2020 10:39

@houseinthesnow

But when you look at the stats, the numbers of people that are seriously ill at working age is tiny and just a few isolated cases. The most likely people to die or be hospitalised is still the over 85's category, I don't know about you but I don't know many teachers that are over 85.

I would put the teachers to the top of the list just to shut up the unions

Actually I would to shut up the teacher union. You have just found an answer to a lot of problems Grin

Lets be honest the teachers union lost any respect from most parents months again.

I suppose most unions. My father was a union leader for years. However between the time I spent working in a secondary school and the union handling of schools reopening last time. Well I don't have much respect for most there representatives.

houseinthesnow · 15/12/2020 10:40

Oh we would most certainly know if hundreds of teachers had died turtle trust me!

Do you really think the union would pass on a chance of a real and genuine reason to close schools? Of course not - they are reduced to making scare stories.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 15/12/2020 10:41

#support not suppose

Blacktothepink · 15/12/2020 10:41

Very true turtle
All my London based nieces and nephews are off isolating anyway.

tootyfruitypickle · 15/12/2020 10:42

I totally want schools fully open. But I think heads have to decide. No 10 is driving the legal challenges, and they’re not even speaking to the people on the ground.

I desperately want schools open, the lockdown had a terrible effect on my DD mentally. The change in her from sept has been remarkable. But if my head says it’s not tenable to stay open, I’d accept that. It should not be up to no 10.

I don’t think even dept of education are having a say in this - this is politically driven by Boris advisors .

houseinthesnow · 15/12/2020 10:42

Well we are a few months away from that turtle in reality. Our school is very safe, not a single case - 900 kids.

MarshaBradyo · 15/12/2020 10:44

The action is against the council not the Heads. Schools atm need to strive to remain open and if not tenable won’t. This is very different to councils closing schools. They do not have the legal basis and this precedence would be dangerous to change. And worse for dc.
houseinthesnow · 15/12/2020 10:44

Heads would be under pressure to buckle to teachers demands for closure, so that would not work at all tooty

All of our children suffered horribly.

Some will more than others, particular from abuse. This can never be allowed to happen again. We have record numbers of children being removed in an overloaded system from the last lockdown, we simply can not do it again.

tootyfruitypickle · 15/12/2020 10:48

Yes I agree. I think individual heads should decide. Not councils .

We have had one case in a large secondary since sept.
However I have friends in London boroughs where it seems to be completely chaotic with all the different isolations and infections. A head has to decide what is the best way to education children, surely? A good head doesn’t buckle to teacher pressure unless it’s valid .

tootyfruitypickle · 15/12/2020 10:49

And I understand the issue with kids at home. I do not know how my dd would cope with another lockdown . And I’ve had a DV marriage so I get that too. But I don’t think heads close their schools lightly .

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 15/12/2020 10:49

@ArseInTheCoOpWindow

Houses the snow.

My teen is fucked mentally. In out, in out. She’s in a gcse year. Wants to work and do well, scared to go to school in case she brings it home. It’s a fucking mess.

And mental health amongst teens improved in lockdown as they were under less pressure.

I agree with you on this.

Most parents I know saw this. I don't think in first lock it had much to do with virus stress though. It was in my opinion relief from the every day pressure of tests, exams and school social life.

It made me wonder what the heck we put are kids through in the name of education.

MarshaBradyo · 15/12/2020 10:49

I think ours would only do so if not enough staff.

FuckOffDfE · 15/12/2020 10:50

Just ignore all the UsForThem bots. They will be all over the threads now seeing as all the lies about schools being safe are finally being seen for what they are - a way for the government to not give a penny to the schools.

Why any group would want to campaign for unsafe schools is beyond me and really shows the stupidity of people. Why wouldn’t you want the best for your children - for them to be in smaller classes, more spaced out with speedy access to tests.

My children go to private school with classes of less than 15 and we haven’t had a single case: if I was selfish I would be campaigning for schools to stay open as they are because it doesn’t affect us. However, I am furious on behalf of everyone being forced to send their children into unsafe schools and furious with the government for showing that they really give zero fucks about the education of the masses.

houseinthesnow · 15/12/2020 10:51

Don't be naive tooty

MarshaBradyo · 15/12/2020 10:51

Fuck

Who are the UsForThem bots?

Which posters specifically?

MarshaBradyo · 15/12/2020 10:52

What I want is mass testing not closure by councils.
