Loads of people on various threads have said things like I’ve had enough, I’m seeing my friends, once the vulnerable are vaccinated I’m not wearing a mask etc.

This has been going on a long time, the idea of it going on much longer is unbearable, I get it. But, I want to make an appeal to you on behalf of those who are more vulnerable and are not willing to throw caution to the wind.

If you, and your friends/family, want to get together in private, or in the open air, in defiance of whatever rules are in place at the time - well, as long as you’re all consenting adults, that’s your business. Actually, it’s not solely your business, because one or more of you could then go on to pass the virus to someone vulnerable, but that’s not my main point here.

My point is, whatever you decide to do amongst your friends - when you are out in public, please respect the wishes of other people who have made a different decision to you.

Please carry on wearing your mask in the supermarket and on the bus. Please keep your distance from people who are clearly trying to keep theirs from you.

You want to make your own decisions about risk? Fine. You don’t get to make that decision for others, and that means you have to keep away from anyone who is not choosing to be close to you.

Calling people who have a different opinion to you 'of below average intelligence' and 'cunts' is just disgusting. Get over yourselves.

FearlessGreatExpanse · 12/12/2020 16:49

@onedayinthefuture

You may believe in a deterministic world but I don’t. I believe that decision I make can impact my life and can also impact the lives of others. If I choose to drink drive, then I increase not only my own chance of death, but also of others. I can choose not to - and I don’t believe that fate means I would have driven drunk regardless and killed myself/others.

Same with Covid - we can help
Stop the spread and keep it from rising uncontrollably by acting sensibly or we can be selfish twats and believe that whatever we do, our actions and their subsequent consequences are out of our control so it doesn’t matter which I think is your argument. And i judge you severely for that (but know that applying your logic you accept this judgement as your fate)

You have a choice, you are choosing to be morbidly selfish and risk the lives of others.

I really don’t give a fuck what you think. I’m personally far more disgusted by people who put others at risk by their own selfish actions.

And if people cannot see why that is disgusting then yes, they are below average intelligence. And if they can see why it’s disgusting and still choose to make selfish decisions, the they are cunts - in my opinion. You can view them however you want.

Just so you know, death comes to us all. It catches up to us sooner or later. No one is immortal. When your times up your times up.
I’m 42, clinically vulnerable due to an underlying chronic health condition and currently laid up in bed with Covid despite having been ridiculously careful. Is it ok for me to die from a disease that I could have been prevented from catching and leave my 3 year old without a mum?
onedayinthefuture · 12/12/2020 16:53

People aren't putting others at risk if they don't have the virus though are they? Contrary to what we've all been led to believe, we aren't all currently walking around with Covid.

Orangeblossom77777 · 12/12/2020 16:55

I'm choosing to mingle with people who are going to die soon this Christmas, at their request.

Sadly I have been berated for this by 'friends' who don't understand. It will be their last Christmas, who am I do judge and begrudge them making a decision like that

Please remember everyone is different and may make different decisions, nothing is as simple.

doublehalo · 12/12/2020 16:55

Lockdown and the fallout from lockdown is going to kill way more people than Covid.

Calling people names and being vile won't change the facts.

Northernsoulgirl45 · 12/12/2020 16:55

@FlipperSkipper sorry to hear that. Hope you don't have a bad case.

murbblurb · 12/12/2020 16:57

trouble with a lot of the 'human rights/freedoms' thicko brigade (because there are no greater whingers about dictatorships than those who don't actually live in one...) is that it isn't even just about the NHS, or indeed about the death rate. Those do of course matter a great deal.

Covid makes you ill for a while. It can make you ill for a very long while. Even if the illness is short, while you have it you probably can't work. If enough people can't work we risk no bin emptying/power/water/broadband/police etc etc etc.

and that will take us into a real disaster movie.

keep your distance even if you are a mask objector. No-one, repeat NO-ONE, has any reason not to do that. Wait your turn to buy your Christmas crap.

oh yes, and mask either off if you have a good reason or over mouth and nose. not halfway, shit-for-brains.

GlowingOrb · 12/12/2020 16:58

These people scare me so much now. I am at high risk from Covid and at least for now I can’t get the vaccine because of my allergies. The same fracking allergies that are related to the condition that makes me high risk in the first place. My DH has been joking that the only way to keep me safe is going to be to live on a boat (except motion sickness) or build a bunker in the middle of no where and I’m starting to think he might be right because people are just awful.

confuseddotcom090 · 12/12/2020 16:58

The aggressive and unpleasant language on here. It's horrendous.

I'm minded to break every rule going just to tell you to stick it.

FearlessGreatExpanse · 12/12/2020 16:59

@doublehalo

If people stuck to rules of social distancing, wearing masks and generally being more considerable we could have have far less severe lockdowns. But a large % of the population are ignorant twats who take no responsibility amd are lengthening the pain.

So yes the low-intelligent cunts are causing more than and increase in Covid deaths/disabilities, they are also increasing the financial pain. The fact you don’t understand this is a perfect demonstration of why this is happening.

onedayinthefuture · 12/12/2020 17:02

No one is catching the virus on purpose. Majority of people are catching the fucking thing at work, school, hospital.... they then isolate. I repeat no one is passing the virus on purpose.

Kazzyhoward · 12/12/2020 17:03

@doublehalo

Lockdown and the fallout from lockdown is going to kill way more people than Covid.

Calling people names and being vile won't change the facts.

Lockdown and restrictions will continue for longer if people don't follow the rules/guidance, so people doing what the hell they want are actually going to make it worse and last longer.

Rules/restrictions/SD etc won't be relaxed/removed until death rates and infection rates fall far enough that the NHS isn't overwhelmed. Whilst people continue to "make their own choices", that inevitably leads to more people catching covid, passing it to others, thus hospitalisations and deaths and a stretched NHS which in turn means less support/treatment for non covid conditions.

OMG how the fuck will that “stick it” to me??

By suggesting this you are only strengthening my point.

You’re going to stick it to me by going out and putting yourselves and others at risk. Of extending the lockdown and increasing the financial pain of many.

Fucking hell utterly despair.

Sorry, but they ARE if they're not social distancing, not washing their hands, and not following some of the other rules/guidance such as socialising etc.
doublehalo · 12/12/2020 17:05

@FearlessGreatExpanse

Based on the statistics we shouldn't be having lockdown at all. But keep ranting and raving and name calling. If that's the paradigm you want to inhabit that's up to you. Most people have a more common sense approach.

BethlehemIsInTier1 · 12/12/2020 17:06

No they are not passing it on purposely, they are doing it because they are either selfish or stupid by not following really fucking simple guidelines. Like wearing masks (properly), socially distancing, not holding parties or needless social get togethers.

Of course there is always going to be transmission unless we lockdown utterly and completely (which no one wants) but the transmission rate is going up because people are not applying common sense and general kindness.

Please do provide the source for your nonsense data? Katie Hopkins?

Have you had a look at what’s happening in Sweden? Have you seen what’s happening in China (mostly normal business - fortunately for me as I have Chinese suppliers)

BethlehemIsInTier1 · 12/12/2020 17:08

@MyPersona show me the peer reviewed evidence that a face mask works, because it does not, you are simply breathing in your own germs and Co2

jojomolo · 12/12/2020 17:08

... surely it's astoundingly unlikely that the majority could be of below average intelligence in a group as large as "Daily Mail/ Mail Online readers". 50% will be of below average intelligence as IQ-100 is set at the median of the population and changes over time. The selection pressure of the newspaper choice seems unlikely to move the needle in a group of 100 million. That's what I think anyway. I could be wrong.

I'm sorry you think people of below average intelligence are disgusting. I don't think that's a great way to think about half the population.

Absolutely no one has said we're all walking around with covid, so stop with the lies and hyperbole.
Doublebubblebubble · 12/12/2020 17:09

Ive had 4 people die. I'm fed up of people being selfish.
My mum has cancer, her second this year, where her rate of survival has gone from 92% for the first cancer to we cant give you odds with this second.

Obviously people are going to die of other natural causes in the meantime until were back to normality but PLEASE don't think that this is just about covid.

When you arent wearing a mask (or properly), socially distancing and washing your hands AND getting vaccinated you are also putting at risk people with other illness es as well as continuing to help the spread of this disease.

I don't want anything to be mandatory but by god do some people really need their hands held all the time and its galling to think that more people will die because people don't care.
