Just that really, im in Sheffield and id assumed as per Boris's press conference that all tier 3 area's would be getting rapid mass testing. So far there has been no mention of it. Just wondering if others have? I had planned on getting us all tested once the kids break up from school, prior to meeting family over Christmas.

I’m In Bristol and I believe out allocation might have been used on students before they go home?

HardCandyChristmas · 10/12/2020 23:52

Nope - nothing in Kent except in Medway, and Medway is only for key frontline workers or by invitation.

Kent County Council have partnered with the army apparently, but I think there's more chance of seeing them in the Strictly final than actually getting testing sites together.

notangelinajolie · 10/12/2020 23:53

Trafford. No idea haven't a clue.

ThatDamnKrampus · 10/12/2020 23:58

In the NW and nope. I was under the impression that all Tier 3s were supposed to be getting rapid community testing, I must have misunderstood.

AnyFucker · 11/12/2020 00:30

You didn't misunderstand

sleepwouldbenice · 11/12/2020 00:47

@LittleRen

We are tier 2 (very low, we were very high) and we have access to rapid symptom free testing
Wirral?

Yep here too. Going tomorrow / today. Although I am grateful it feels a little bit like bolting the stable door.......

Given higher rates everywhere it doesn’t seem right. Can’t believe some of our northern neighbours haven’t got it though

Interesting to read about councils being told Monday as yes ours was advertised from Tuesday...... army leaving this weekend I believe with testing until the spring

Yes but no but... West mids, t3, the plan here was for large employers, schools, universities etc to enroll to have mass testing on their site. So potentially yes but not for the general public. It seems like a sensible plan. There are regular sessions for asymptomatic testing in different areas but I think they’re the normal tests and you have to wait for a result, the advice is that self isolating isn’t needed until you get a positive result so you don’t have to SI whilst you wait.

Underadesk · 11/12/2020 08:37

South yorkshire should be under rapid testing, but like most things, it will appear after covid.....

SomewhereEast · 11/12/2020 11:28

Nothing that I know of here in Humberside

Allmyfavouritepeople · 11/12/2020 12:05

Just had confirmation that the lateral flow tests trial is being postponed in my area. The day after the London announcement.

badlydrawnbear · 11/12/2020 16:36

In Birmingham, and was going to say no but a previous post said there is in 3 locations. I had no idea.

Frazzled2207 · 11/12/2020 17:07

No, greater Manchester.
But I know some boroughs of GM dead against because they don’t trust the lateral flow tests.
My borough definitely applied for some, that was about a month ago. Perhaps more.

Frazzled2207 · 12/12/2020 12:06

An update to this today - apparently it is starting on monday.....

There is a list of the 67 authorities on the daily fail website but I hate promoting the daily fail

Hoppinggreen · 12/12/2020 12:07

West Yorkshire, nope

OrangeBananaFish · 12/12/2020 12:16

Sky link to the areas getting the mass testing.

My prediction is that these will stay in level 3, but others who are not getting the testing may go down to 2.

mollythewad · 12/12/2020 12:18

Tier 2 here - London. It's getting very bad here, very quickly. We just received an email about testing sites for people without symptoms.

Crumpetycrump · 12/12/2020 12:22

Tier 3 Bristol not in that list - does that mean tier 2 for us I wonder?

Basileus · 12/12/2020 12:22

I am not sure what use a testing centre would be. It is now established that the PCR test yields mainly false positive results so that people's lives are adversely affected without any benefit. Whatever you do, don't get tested.

PurpleDaisies · 12/12/2020 12:23

The cases are down massively to below the average for England. I’m not sure they could justify keeping Bristol, S Glos and N Somerset in tier 3.

Established where?
Crumpetycrump · 12/12/2020 13:51

Apparently the Bristol hospitals are busy but not with covid patients. I would love us to go into tier 2 but don’t want the cases to start rising again.

InTheLongGrass · 12/12/2020 14:10

I dont think it will be a tier 2/3 thing. We have a cluster of 5 regions here, and 2 are on the list. The worst 2 areas arent on the list, and I dont think they will divide us between the tiers (think 30 mins drive E to W or N to S to cover the entire 5 areas).

Frazzled2207 · 12/12/2020 14:28

Afaik all tier 3 councils were asked if they wanted the extra (lateral flow?) tests and I think some said no...

TheGremlinsAreComing · 12/12/2020 14:37

No
