Tier 3'er Do you have access to rapid mass testing in your Town/City?

Just that really, im in Sheffield and id assumed as per Boris's press conference that all tier 3 area's would be getting rapid mass testing. So far there has been no mention of it. Just wondering if others have? I had planned on getting us all tested once the kids break up from school, prior to meeting family over Christmas.

Lincolnshire. No.
It was announced locally that the mass testing would only be in the hotspots (Lincoln and Boston). Not the rest of the vast county where rates were relatively low. Not sure if it's arrived in the hotspots yet.

How much is anyone willing to bet that it will happen in London quickly?

SufferingFromLongLockdown · 10/12/2020 13:32

Not that I'm aware of..

CarryOnFestiveNamechanging · 10/12/2020 13:52

Notts - not to my knowledge

AHippoNamedBooBooButt · 10/12/2020 13:55

Nope.

Thesearmsofmine · 10/12/2020 14:02

Nope, I’m in West Yorkshire under Kirklees council and apparently they are working on it.

rosie39forever · 10/12/2020 14:05

Leicestershire and no, we've also been taken off the vaccination hub list despite Leicester city having been in permanent lockdown since March.

LJC1234 · 10/12/2020 15:48

Nope - we are in Kent

Waxonwaxoff0 · 10/12/2020 16:22

Derbyshire, not that I know of.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 10/12/2020 16:23

Although to be honest cases here have been dropping anyway.

PurpleDaisies · 10/12/2020 16:23

Not in any of the south west tier 3 areas.

Disappointing,

Stilltalkstotrees · 10/12/2020 16:31

Warwickshire - no.

Hayeahnobut · 10/12/2020 16:34

So in summary, they lied?

SlipperyLizard · 10/12/2020 16:35

Not here in greater Manchester either

ChalkDinosaur · 10/12/2020 16:36

Bristol - nope.

HellnoH20 · 10/12/2020 16:41

Yes in Medway there is mass testing, it started on Monday I do believe

McFarts · 10/12/2020 16:46

@Hayeahnobut

So in summary, they lied?
Yes so it would seem!

Good to hear that some have, but it seems to be a very small minority.

Also in Medway. DD’s primary school sent an email out saying it was open to everyone but the link on the email said just critical workers. Also not had an email from Medway council saying it is open so I’m not sure.
ScoobySnacker · 10/12/2020 18:33

In my part of the NE no, but DD had a test a week back and results were in same day.

NeurotrashWarrior · 10/12/2020 18:48

Nope. NE.

Though I was told it was decided upon by the local LA in the specific area.

Allmyfavouritepeople · 10/12/2020 18:52

We are meant to be starting the lateral flow tests for secondary school teachers next week. Chosen as a trial area (Been Tier 3 forever)
Heard very little about it.
Cannot believe London pupils have got testing before North West pupils but I guess we don't count.

NeurotrashWarrior · 10/12/2020 19:10

Durham uni will be doing later flow tests on staff and students.

clareykb · 10/12/2020 23:29

Tyneside tier 3 and less than 100 cases per 10000 and not as far as I know although the unis do have mass testing don't think they do for the general public

ChittyChittyBoomBoom · 10/12/2020 23:30

Midlands here, tier 3, nope 🙄.

mightyducks · 10/12/2020 23:38

areas were only told on Monday if their bids were successful to be in wave 1 of the mass testing, even then, areas can use them how they like , eg a workforce or a setting, the general public might not even get to know about it happening, the vast majority will be nothing like the Liverpool mass testing, be much smaller scale, the army cannot come into every area and set up the testing, there just isn’t the capacity

AnyFucker · 10/12/2020 23:41

Gtr Manchester, nope
