Felt so emotional watching the video of the 90 year old lady receiving the first vaccine this morning bless her. Im not usually soppy at all but it really got me. Pray that things are now changing for the better x

Totally agree, it's the first tentative step towards normality and I couldn't welcome it more OP, I know there is a long way to go but I think the realisation that we are finally in a better position really hit home for me.

PuzzledObserver · 08/12/2020 07:53

I was too. And in Coventry - a little way away from me, but our nearest hub.

My DH is a care home worker, I’m on pins waiting for him to get called, he will probably have to go there to get it. Meanwhile, he doesn’t think they will be getting the jab for residents this side of Christmas. He’s become cynical because of all the times the Govt have trumpeted what they’ve done to support care homes, but it didn’t happen on the ground.

Me too OP

How good does she look for 90 btw?!

Mybedislisting · 08/12/2020 08:14

Did you see the footage of her being clapped by the nursing staff - that sent me over the edge.

It’s so brilliant

Riddlediddle · 08/12/2020 08:15

She looked incredible and just so full of joy x

I did yes. I live in Coventry too, and I really, really didn’t want to get up this morning. I shed a little tear making my tea.

VaggieMight · 08/12/2020 08:19

That made me feel emotional too, it made me reflect for a moment on what we've all been through. It's nice to feel some optimism, finally.

LadyCatStark · 08/12/2020 08:21

I’ve cried at bloody everything since March 🙈. I do feel a bit sorry for the poor lady as she only went in for her vaccine and now the nation’s media all want a piece of her!

This sent me over the edge too, shed a little happy tear this morning. The dog thinks I've gone mad Grin
MarshaBradyo · 08/12/2020 08:26

I didn’t see it but listening to radio has made me feel emotional

CorianderBlues · 08/12/2020 08:29

I had a quiet tear watching it with my cup of tea this morning.

And what a great story about Matron May coming from the Philippines to work in the NHS. I bloody LOVE the NHS.

Today is a great day.

AgnesNaismith · 08/12/2020 08:31

Yes Coventry 🙌

lubeybooby · 08/12/2020 08:31

lovely and I hope she gets another clap when she has the second dose in 3 weeks Grin

Els1e · 08/12/2020 08:33

Me too. Just feel there is light at the end at the end of the tunnel. 🥲

Mybedislisting · 08/12/2020 08:40

Ooh yes I’ll be tuning in for that Smile

Tomorrowisanotherdayyouknow · 08/12/2020 08:58

I know what you mean @Riddlediddle - for many people this has been a very tough year. For the ECV or CV it has been a massive worry if you catch will you survive or end up with complications. For those with vulnerable loved ones.

It is a very welcome sight to see the vaccine programme roll out. People that either are not vulnerable or have vulnerable relatives or those that lack empathy for others and their worries will not get it though.

Another Cov Kid here.
I may have something in my eye. Wink

bellinisurge · 08/12/2020 09:23

I'm finding it emotional to see older people out with face masks these days. And teenagers and kids.

Nandakanda · 08/12/2020 09:27

That was my friend's mum! And yes she is lovely.

SummerHouse · 08/12/2020 09:28

I am emotional at this. A positive covid thread. I love you all a little today!

sashagabadon · 08/12/2020 09:30

Me too! Loved it. Well done to Matt Hancock and all the hundreds of people involved in the logistics. A massive success (so far anyway 😁) It’s amazing.

sashagabadon · 08/12/2020 09:31

@Nandakanda

That was my friend's mum! And yes she is lovely.
I’m assuming she was already a patient in the hospital and they didn’t drag her out of her house in a foggy cold day at 6am! What a lovely tale for her family too
Mrsjayy · 08/12/2020 09:36

Aww was it Margaret is a legend was lovely to see.

Matt Hancock was on GMB and he looked delighted and moved

Bathroom12345 · 08/12/2020 09:42

It was lovely. I know its going to take a while but we have made a start. I have to say though that there are some moaners both on MN's and beyond. I dont know if its for political reasons, they like the current restrictions, they dont believe in vaccines etc.

I went to school many many years ago with a young chap who had calipers. He had caught polio and other children would tease him. I have never forgotton him dragging his leg across the playground.

And as for the people who want to see how it affects others is shocking esepcailly if they are in the medical profession. Is there really something they dont know!

onetwothreeadventure · 08/12/2020 09:44

I'm totally crying! That lady is amazing! She said she was going to spend Christmas with her family, the thought of her not having to worry about spending time with her family sent me off again!
