Would you go to Tesco with a cough

I've had a mild cold all week, a slightly scratchy throat and a runny nose. The scratchy throat is now making me cough but the cough definitely originates in my throat, not my chest iyswim. So, I'm confident I don't have any of the symptoms.

However, I am coughing quite a lot and slightly concerned I might get lynched. WWYD?

Sook on a sweetie on your way round the aisles.

OpheliasCrayon · 05/12/2020 17:41

If you've had a test and it's negative go to the shops. I've taken my kids to the shops with fevers / coughs after they've tested negative (isolated until negative test obviously). It's absolutely not anyone's business

TheDaydreamBelievers · 05/12/2020 17:44

If you were tested for this symptom, and it was negative, then of course you can go to tesco

Tigger001 · 05/12/2020 17:45

No, I wouldn't go

CtrlU · 05/12/2020 17:46

Personally I would be staying home

Isn’t a cough a symptom of the virus?

Not saying you have it but the point is you just don’t know.

She does...she just decided not to mention she’s had a negative test.
Crakeandoryx · 05/12/2020 17:50

You need a test! I tested positive with a cough that was more of a throat clearing than a chesty cough. Get a test and stay at home!

CrocodilesCry · 05/12/2020 17:50

A lot of experts will tell you a negative test doesn't mean you definitely don't have Covid-19. They're not 100% reliable.
Personally I wouldn't go out sharing a cold or whatever it is around.

Bathroom12345 · 05/12/2020 17:54

There was an old chap in Sainsbury, coughing and spluttering, dirty mask hanging off his face and kept getting far too close to people earlier today. Yes, he could have some health issues, and was probably late 70’s but honestly, people were giving him a very wide berth

Keepdistance · 05/12/2020 17:54

If you have a partner that can go instead (as your family is negative) that makes more sense as whatever you do have is likely contagious and may mean time off work for
Teacher
Nhs worker etc etc waiting for a test.

Heybeendyingtomeetyou · 05/12/2020 17:57

So you posted purposely to mislead pp into thinking YABU to go to a Tesco without having a test?

GalaxyCookieCrumble · 05/12/2020 17:58

Hate threads like this, go to Tesco's and stop carrying onHmm

tulippa · 05/12/2020 18:09

I have a cough and got a negative test result. Everyone gave me a wide berth when I went shopping on Thursday. It was great. Smile

(I would have happily shown my result text if anyone had asked.)

frustrationcentral · 05/12/2020 18:09

@trappedsincesundaymorn

Yes I would. If I stayed home every time I had a cough I'd never be out. The cold weather aggravates my chest so I cough quite a lot in the winter months.
Me too!
Puffthemagicdragongoestobed · 05/12/2020 18:15

In my area all Tesco slots are always booked out for weeks but it often seems that they release last minute slots for the next day, maybe try the site again in case it's the same in your area?

sofiaaaaaa · 05/12/2020 18:18

No. No one wants you to spread your cold to them either. How many people will catch your cough and then have to go on and self isolate before they get a negative test? And what impact would that have on their lives?

There’s freely available online delivery slots so realistically no excuse. It’s just selfish.

elastamum · 05/12/2020 18:19

I have asthma and cough a lot. If I stayed home because of it, I would never go out. I don't have coronavirus and I have just got used to the dirty looks. It's pretty miserable being an asthmatic right now.

Firefliess · 05/12/2020 18:24

Take some cough medicine before you go to Tesco's, if you really must.

But I'd avoid anyone who was coughing and wish they hadn't come. Apart from anything else, I wouldn't want to catch your cold and have to isolate while waiting for a Covid test result.

satnighttakeaway · 05/12/2020 18:24

She's clearly said there aren't

I don't do online shopping but my Dsis does and I know that she sometimes struggles to get a slot, but obviously you know better, I'll tell her she must be doing it wrong

If I'd had a negative test I'd go shopping, some posters here would have everyone stay inside for ever

sofiaaaaaa · 05/12/2020 18:35

@satnighttakeaway yep, you do that🤷🏼‍♀️ when you’re ill with something contagious, stay at home.

Too right I go shopping when I have a cold, and to work and carry on my life in general.

That's totally normal

. I know that life has changed but you can't have forgotten that a cold isn't something you need to go into isolation for. In fact I have bit of a cold atm and have been doing all the things that their 3 allows me too, you stay inside if you want to but I won't be.

Hayeahnobut · 05/12/2020 18:47

Did you send your children to see their grandparents yesterday BS?

PhilCornwall1 · 05/12/2020 18:55

Yes, of course I would go.

Is this what it's going to be like forever now. Cough or fart the wrong way and you have to get a test.

WhoseThatGirl · 05/12/2020 18:57

As long as you’ve had a test knock yourself out.

YakkityYakYakYak · 05/12/2020 18:59

Just go OP if you need to. Yes you’ll probably get a few funny looks but who cares, you’re not doing anything wrong, just ignore them.
