Just curious on how many actually want to have the vaccine as heard not many are willing as we don't know the true risks yet

Yes, I'll be having it when offered.

It's obviously up to individuals whether they have it or not. However, as soon as it's been offered to everyone the government should lift all the restriction. People who want to crack on with life can then do so, and those that want to continue to wait and see can continue to socially distance etc.

Parker231 · 04/12/2020 13:25

I’ll have it the minute I get the chance. I want my life to return to normal. If others want restrictions to remain in their lifes, their choice but don’t be surprised if you can’t do things you want to.

I'll have it when offered. Very glad my parents and in-laws are sensible people who will take it when offered too.

Frazzled2207 · 04/12/2020 14:02

I'm not in any priority category but absolutely yes.
And I'm participating in a vaccine trial so I might have actually had one already (I'll find out if I got the real thing or placebo before it's my turn)

I hope people realise that the vaccine is just as much about protecting people around you as you yourself. And I think it's deeply selfish to basically rely on everyone else around you to get it and not get it yourself, if offered.

I'm in Category 6, but as a university teacher also considered front line staff. I have my arm out, ready & waiting.

I hope all the anti-vaxxers are now making preparations to stay in lockdown for a very long time.

This.

If there's one thing this pandemic should have taught us (but some people are too self-centred, I suspect) it is how much we are all reliant on all the strangers around us to be aware of the risks they pose to all the other strangers, and how we too, must be responsible for the safety of others, including people we do not know.

THat the idea of 'community' needs to embrace all of us, not just those we know.

The problem is, how will we know?

I'm all for ensuring that those who are offered the vaccine and refuse, are required to stay in lockdown, until the rest of us are safe, but they won't do that, will they?

I expect if you made a Venn diagram of
anti-mask
anti-lockdown
anti-vaxxers

(and people who are prepared to break laws & regulations over mask-wearing and lockdown/Tier restrictions)

you'd get a pretty big overlap of those groups.

Parker231 · 04/12/2020 15:13

I hope other countries and airlines refuse travel to those not vaccinated. Why should others put themselves at risk across the world due to antivacs.

Treaclepie19 · 04/12/2020 15:40

Yep me and my friends and family will.

Treaclepie19 · 04/12/2020 15:41

(But most of us won't be offered it for ages)

trulydelicious · 04/12/2020 16:35

@Alethiometrical

This is nonsense.

Many people (I for one) wear a mask and follow lockdown rules

Still they have concerns about vaccines with technologies that are so new and would rather not have them

Alethiometrical · 04/12/2020 16:52

This is nonsense.

No, you just don't understand how Venn diagrams work.

Coasterfan · 04/12/2020 17:02

I ll have it, I m not a priority though so I think it will be a while.

Heathercob · 04/12/2020 18:25

I will when it finally comes round to us - despite the fact I'm actually scared of injections 😱😱😱!
