Just curious on how many actually want to have the vaccine as heard not many are willing as we don't know the true risks yet

Ok...thanks for info will share with friends....

😂

Who will be agreeing to vaccine ?
Belle1983 · 03/12/2020 23:45

I would be happy to have it, but won't be allowed to as I'm pregnant (not that I'd be anywhere near top of the list even if I wasn't).

Will be interesting to see uptake at work (hospital) when frontline staff are offered it.
Even just the 'normal' flu vaccine had far greater uptake this year.

Maze76 · 03/12/2020 23:47

Not immediately, and not necessarily the one being rolled out. This vaccine appears very fragile, the care to transport it and retain it at -75... handling something that cold is dangerous in itself. I’m happy to free up space in the queue for those who are desperate to be injected.. I will patiently wait to see what the other vaccines offer.

Bewareoftheblob · 03/12/2020 23:53

20% of people with Covid become seriously ill or die. Those that live do so only because they got a hospital bed and staff to care for them.

Bullshit

Anystarinthesky · 03/12/2020 23:55

I will take it without hesitation.

SheepandCow · 03/12/2020 23:56

Bullshit

You think the scientific and medical experts at the WHO are talking bullshit?
bringbackCabanas · 04/12/2020 00:11

@Bewareoftheblob it was the case in March. I can't find more up to date info but someone else might be able to.

Who will be agreeing to vaccine ?
480Widdio · 04/12/2020 02:16

I will be having it,cannot wait, long Covid is what worries me the most.

Inkpaperstars · 04/12/2020 03:11

Cannot have it at present as I am pregnant but in due course when I am eligible I plan to have the vaccine.

My family has actually experienced one of the rare and potentially extreme conditions associated with some vaccine reactions. Still, we know that statistically the threat from covid is more likely to get us.

Calmandmeasured1 · 04/12/2020 03:28

@SheepandCow

Write to Matt Hancock. He's under 40 and healthy but has suggested he'll queue jump by 'volunteering to prove it's safe'. Perhaps you could offer to take his place (as a good deed, of course...).
Wrong. Matt Hancock didn't suggest this at all. Piers Morgan suggested to Matt Hancock that the two of them could have the vaccine live on air to prove it is safe. MH responded that there was a priority to giving the vaccines and told PM that as he (PM) is mlddle aged and in good health he wasn't likely to be given priority. He did then say that he would do it if it would help others to feel it was safe to have.
(Don't let the truth get in the way of a good story though).

SingANewSongChickenTikka · 04/12/2020 05:23

Yes I will be getting it. I’m priority 6 so not front of the queue but hopefully just a few months away if things go well.
I find the while ‘I’m not getting it because it’s not been tested properly/Covid’s not that bad/only old people die/etc etc...’ bizarre and arrogant. We have literally had the world’s best and most experienced working and advising on this 24/7, but somehow you and your mates know better. The ‘had enough of experts’ mentality runs deep and is scary.

Aposterhasnoname · 04/12/2020 06:54

Fucks sake. Hancock isn’t trying to queue jump, that gob shite Piers Morgan suggested it and Hancock said he would if it persuade people to take it.

I’m no Hancock fan, but you should be ashamed of that comment.

Timbucktime · 04/12/2020 07:06

I think some who think the likes of Matt Hancock should take the vaccine live on tv are worried that he will just be given a placebo / saline.
Him being given a vaccine that has been picked by an independent person from a random batch being given to the general public would probably make a lot of people happier.

Theodoreb · 04/12/2020 07:06

Group 4 I'm happy with that I'll see the effect on others and I'll get it soon not sure when however hope it's soon I won't survive covid so don't really have a choice.

PhilCornwall1 · 04/12/2020 07:13

Only if its a condition of me getting my other drugs. If I don't have the flu vaccine, my other drugs are withdrawn.

If it's the same with this one I'll have to have it, otherwise, no I won't have it.

Thatwentbadly · 04/12/2020 07:15

Me. My poor husband would have it now. He is 37 and we’ve spent months shielding as a family to protect the NHS and we still have to be extra carefully so privately I’m pissed off that that people in the shielding group are so far down the list.

Bewareoftheblob · 04/12/2020 08:57

@SheepandCow It's out of date information and based on minimal testing in March, as @bringbackCabanas pointed out.

We keep being told that a huge amount of cases are asymptomatic too, so yes, it's bullshit that 20% of infected people end up in hospital.

Bewareoftheblob · 04/12/2020 08:58

Obviously if you have more up to date information then I'm happy to consider revising my opinion.

unchienandalusia · 04/12/2020 11:56

Another vax poster who posts and runs. Hmmmm

HebeMumsnet · 04/12/2020 12:13

Hello everyone,

We’re getting a number of reports about anti-vax sentiment and misinformation. Mumsnet, being an open site, does mean that this kind of thing tends to be robustly challenged on the boards, and many users are here looking for reassurance after all.

We're always on alert to anyone here with a specific agenda to share a particular (often extreme) point of view. We'll usually ban such posters as their contributions to threads are rarely helpful. We also delete links to sites that are clearly peddling bad science/fake news.
We think, especially with the emergence of new vaccines, it’s understandable people will want to discuss what’s involved - but we’d always urge anyone with questions to speak to a medical professional too.

You can also find further information about vaccines on the NHS website. www.nhs.uk/conditions/vaccinations/why-vaccination-is-safe-and-important/

virucidalmaniac · 04/12/2020 13:04

I am no 6 on the list,

cannot wait!

LostAcre · 04/12/2020 13:13

I’d have the vaccine tomorrow if I could.

I’m way, way down the list though.

VanityWitch · 04/12/2020 13:16

DH and I are thinking of TTC early next year, so I might not have it. Otherwise, I'd be barging my way to the front of the queue Grin. Ok, maybe I'd be a bit more gracious than that, but you know.

VanityWitch · 04/12/2020 13:17

I am also way down the list, so no amount of barging would allow me to have it any time soon.
