Am really sorry to hear this OP ...there are lots of seasonal jobs now being advertised because shops etc have been closed and haven’t been interviewing. I really wish you and everyone who has been made redundant because of this shitshow all the best 💐X

Pubs worked so hard to comply with all these restrictions, it’s monstrously unfair. Amazed people are so compliant but there we are.

So sorry to hear OP. Hospitality workers have been treated awfully through this whole thing. I started my new job in October and found out two weeks into lockdown 2 that I wouldn’t get furlough pay as I would have had to have been paid before the 30th to be eligible, my first pay day wasn’t until the 1st. But hearing stories like yours I am lucky to have a job to go back to.

It’s a shame those event companies probably won’t have much on this year as normally you can get good temp work for event catering companies for big Christmas parties etc.

Big hugs to you it is just not fair the way hospitality workers have been treated, I hope it all works outFlowers

@ChocBeforeCock

I’m so sorry. I really don’t agree with the hospitality rules at all. Wishing you all the best in finding a new job Flowers

This

I can't see how people being able to go for a meal is any less hazardous than people being able to have a pie and a pint.

I'm so sorry that you have lost your job. Theseare awful times.

Op our thoughts are with you. I hope you sb still enjoy Christmas and take this time before New Year to regroup and take stock.

I won’t be surprised if they want you back in a few months Hmm

I think it's because people are less likely to go out for a drink if they have to buy food as well @SchadenfreudePersonified

Really sorry to hear that. I think chef work may pick up fairly quickly though again (well at least I hope so).

I've had to had a career change and it's been a scary few weeks but I feel OK now - although still just contracting and not in a permanent role that worries me.

My pub worked so hard. Everything was/is in place but there is no getting away from the fact that there will not be enough customers to cover wages etc.
I’ll miss everyone more than anything. Christmas will be tighter this year BUT we will have a laugh (it costs nothing).
I’m feeling very sad tonight not just for me but for everyone who has lost during this unprecedented year 💐

So sorry OP, similar has happened to me. And as long as people go shopping for non essential goods, break the rules, meet with friends, etc etc then we face further lockdowns and more businesses going under and jobs lost. For every person who breaks the rules, thinking ‘it won’t hurt’ it’s a much bigger picture than will I catch/pass on the virus. Op’s situation is a result of people’s actions. Apparently Blue water is open 24 hours around the clock from 8am tommorow, before Kent goes in to tier 3 lockdown. It will be rammed with selfish people who think buying wrapping paper is more important than people’s lives and livelihoods. I hope you find work soon OP

Gosh how awful, real shame they could not at least furlough you as the scheme extends till March

I really wish people word educate themselves with how the furlough scheme works, and not post stuff like this. Putting staff on furlough is not a costless position for the employer. If a business has no income they may have no choice but to fire people.

Employer costs

OP I'm sorry. I feel for your employer. The government is hell bent on destroying the hospitality industry.

Is the pub closing down as obviously the only way they are allowed to open is to provide substantial meals ie. from a chef or have they got too many chefs they use self employed ones. Also are you really self employed or is this one of those companies who want you to be self employed so they can afford paying NI, holiday pay tax. If this and you have been there over 2 years you can get redundancy as an employee
