Just out of curiosity.

Although rescheduled, this year we have missed seeing the killers and the weeknd.

What concert have you missed which should have been scheduled for this year?

DK123 I know. I couldn't believe that I got so lucky. I entered the LIFAD competition and didn't expect to win, particularly as I also met him at the Download signing and didn't think it could happen again.

He's lovely. First time I met him he was super sweet and so polite and kind. At Lindemann he was very friendly but was in a playful mood and was joking around with us. He has a very dry sarcastic sense of humour that could confuse people but it's just his way of playing around.

I hope that you get a chance to meet him. I'm greedy so hoping for a third time.

It's sad to see how many concerts and shows some people have missed out on, not to mention the impact on the industry. I feel bad enough about missing one. I hope that you all get to experience them all again at a later date.

DK123 · 29/11/2020 16:29

@ApplesandAardvarks I can't believe you got to do that! That does sound like how I imagined him to be. There are a couple of very interesting in depth articles/interviews with him on the Kerrang website I don't know if you've seen. I should have paid more attention to contests on LIFAD! I've started a metal thread and tagged you so hopefully fellow metal heads will join in!

@Redannie118

I live in Newcastle and was lucky enough to go to an outdoor socially distanced concert in Sept( Ronan Keating) a local park did a series of them over 3 weeks, pop, rock and musicals. You booked tickets in a bubble and each little bubble was cordened off with metal fencing. There was a beer hut and hot food stalls , but you had to wear a mask, follow the one way system and stand on the lines in the queue to distance. It was brilliant, every night sold out and everyone enjoyed them, even when it rained. It could well be the way forward for concerts.
I have a bit of behind the scenes knowledge of those concerts and I can’t see them becoming the norm, they are just not cost effective.
Lemons1571 · 29/11/2020 20:13

Rewind festival
Sea Girls
JLS
Lionel Ritchie
Gary Barlow
Jason D
Belinda Carlisle

I can’t get my head around none of them happening until 2022. What happens if the cv and priority groups get vaccinated but everyone under 50 is still unvaccinated, will gigs go ahead?? Does it matter if covid spreads through a crowd of the not-very-vulnerable?

wildbarnet · 29/11/2020 20:28

Pete Tong at the 02

Rollergirl11 · 29/11/2020 20:28

Oh also Stewart Lee.

Why not until 2022
Lemons1571 · 29/11/2020 20:35

@wildbarnet if it takes until Easter to get the vulnerable groups vaccinated, then the rest of us won’t get vaccinated until we’re well into summer.

Like Whitty said last summer, we’ll be in this position until spring/early summer 2021 at the earliest. So it’s perhaps not unreasonable to assume gigs might not recommende until September or after?

Maybe @mollypuss1 has a feel for whether it’s likely that gigs can go ahead normally with all the under 50’s still unvaccinated?
