Want back:

Coffee shops
Live theatre
Concerts
Seeing friends/family without having to count them or pay attention to where we are and remember the current rules.
Holidays

Happier without:

Traffic jams and mass pollution
Crowded airports
The after-conversation when a meeting is over that I would rather not be involved in
People invading my personal space

Want to keep
Kids in PE kit half the week
Parents' evening done virtually.
Routine GP appointments virtually.

Want back
My own classroom at work. I cannot bear it, moving around all day has ruined it for me completely.
Seeing my family.

Chelsea567 · 28/11/2020 22:39

Want back
Hugging my mum.
Keep
Not hugging relatives I see once a year and don't like much

tortoiseshell1985 · 28/11/2020 22:42

My life back would be nice and release from house arrest

Springersrock · 28/11/2020 22:43

I also want to keep Zoom parents evening and e-consult at the doctors

I really want to go to the pub, get pissed, dance badly, sing horribly and get a kebab on the way home

See my family

I want my daughter at uni to have that normal 1st year experience

ImNotCutOutForThis · 28/11/2020 22:43

Traffic here has been worse!

But want back anything for my kids to enjoy.

likeamillpond · 28/11/2020 22:47

I will be glad to see the back of
Long witchy covid hair.
Like millions of other women I grew my hair long during lockdown but now the novelty has well and truly worn off.
Everyone looks so scruffy and woilley somehow, myself included.
I long for layers and smooth swishy hair that has been cut in an Actual Shape.

TempsPerdu · 28/11/2020 22:52

I want pretty much everything back - I’ve hated almost every aspect of lockdown (3-year-old DD might be a factor in that!). Especially miss travel, spontaneity and a sense of possibility; life just feels like work/eat/sleep, rinse and repeat at the moment.

I want to see smiling maskless faces again, and to be encouraged to view others as fellow humans rather than potential disease vectors. And I’d like children to be allowed to be children, rather than fretting about masks and social distancing and the possibility of killing granny.

Iremembertheelderlykoreanlady · 28/11/2020 23:00

I want everything back

With the exception of working in an office. We have proved that we can work from home with no loss in productivity or quality. However the (government department) place I work for has said as soon as the vaccine has been given to the vulnerable we will all be expected back in the office full time.

It makes no sense it's just a control thing.

I'm planning to put a business case forward as to why I should remain WFH. It won't make any difference but at least I will have tried

Al1langdownthecleghole · 28/11/2020 23:03

Seeing my family and friends
Eating out
Holidays
Fun!
Back ASAP please

Same as Lego. Oh and being spontaneous. Deciding to get up and go for a day out without booking.

Happy to keep less shopping, contactless payments and WFH.

Poppystars · 28/11/2020 23:09

I want back:
Job
Freedom to see family who do not live nearby
Kids activities
Toddler groups
Face to face rather than zoom activities
Being able to have a Gp appointment at a set time, rather than phone reception, then get approved for triage call by a Dr who is unable to say when ( how if work in education can you just be available all day?!) - so missing said call as in a lesson. Whereas before I could book one for after school hours. Then ending up needing 111 due to not having medical treatment more promptly.
Online primary appointments - got exactly 4.5 minutes, saw no work, no follow up,

I would keep:
Flexible working from home
People not going into work very ill as fear being dismissed and keeping ill people out of work and wfh
Better ventilation in workplaces

WhoWants2Know · 28/11/2020 23:12

I would like to be allowed to have friends over or allow my kids to visit their friends.

But the last several months has really changed the way I feel about shared public spaces. I never liked crowds and now I think would struggle to tolerate them at all. Places like the cinema, with shared air space for hours is not something I want to revisit.

It isn't just the germs, either. I've seen such poor behaviour that it feels as though people have gone a bit feral.

Didthatreallyhappen · 28/11/2020 23:15

Keep staggered school drop offs or pickups. Always getting parking and not having to stand with 100 other parents in the playground is fucking great.

Oliversmumsarmy · 28/11/2020 23:18

I want everything back.

I long for crowded places and being able to just go out and see a band or a play or arrange to have a big get together with friends.

I want my life back.

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 28/11/2020 23:19

Want
Friends to be able to safely meet
Holidays
Concerts
Social activities
Strangers keeping a distance
Masks when people have a cold etc

Don’t want
In person meetings and training - much better online and saves travel
Old GP system back - phone calls should be offered as standard as much better

PuzzledObserver · 28/11/2020 23:20

@Nomoreboobs

*Smiling, not smoking 😂
That’s a relief. I don’t smoke; not intending to start, especially in a supermarket

I want to keep a simpler, quieter life.

I want back, DCs sports that they loved, their ability to see friends and I want to be able to go see DH family who are in a different country in the UK. Have not seen them for a year now and MIL is elderly.

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 28/11/2020 23:25

One positive of masks is not having to smell other people's breath. I'm really sensitive to the smell of teeth etc, so like not being able to smell that anymore. Especially on older people.

I liked online parents' evenings.
I like the much shorter time it takes me to commute.
I like supermarkets not being as busy as usual.
I like parents not being able to come into the school building. No need.

I want back: the gym, swimming pools where you don't have to book slots, seeing relatives and friends, being able to plan things, spontenaity.

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 28/11/2020 23:27

I don't mind GP appointments via phone first, but I don't want 'sometimes in the morning' timescales. Doesn't suit teachers at all, and presumably doesn't suit loads of people.

FlowersAreBeautiful · 28/11/2020 23:28

I would like to keep the kids wearing their PE kits to school on PE bags. A great innovation.
I'm a teacher and also hoping this stays as it's so much easier than children changing in the classroom.

Want:
Teams staff meetings - I can get on with marking at the same time
Less traffic
Better hygiene - I hope people continue to use hand gel. If people have colds to wear masks
Telephone appointments at GP - so much quicker

Don't want:
How much busier and crowded life seemed to be

Thefirsttime · 28/11/2020 23:32

Want back
My freedom
The ability to do things spontaneously and to choose whether or not I wish to do things as opposed to making a choice based on whether or not they are allowed/allowed to open.

Want to get rid of
Masks
the phrase social distancing. I wish never to hear those things words again

21833efb · 28/11/2020 23:32

This is quite a sad thread, if we could go back a year we could never have foreseen what was ahead, we really did take so much for granted. Sad

What I want back:

  • A job for my DH before he hits complete rock bottom.
  • Being able to go into the vets surgery at appointments or to collect prescriptions etc, not having to worry that I won't be able to visit a poorly pet in hospital or be there at end of life (I know some practices do allow this though).
  • Being able to book holidays, even just a couple of nights away in the UK.
  • Being able to visit a dentist/hygienist for routine check ups.
  • Being able to sit in a coffee shop or cafe.
  • Theatre and live music.
  • Working in the office being the norm.
  • The simpler times, when all that was on the news was Brexit.

What I don't want back:

  • Feeling pressure from society and social media to go out every weekend to restaurants and bars, feeling I'm missing out if I don't.
  • Buffets and buffet restaurants - never did trust hygiene measures at some establishments and especially that of other guests.
  • Crowded airports
  • A lackadaisical approach to hygiene in most public places.
  • Crowded places, with queues for seating.

Gertie75 · 28/11/2020 23:36

Want -
To have my friend visit every week again.
To be able to shop without a mask.
Go to our caravan whenever we want.
To watch the news without Covid being mentioned.

Will miss -
Not having an excuse to not visit IL's
Relaxing weekends

Henio · 28/11/2020 23:37

Don't want back:

  • Hugging, kissing, pissy handshakes with people who are slight acquaintances
  • People standing directly behind me and breathing down my neck in any sort of queue
  • People thinking its ok to sneeze and cough their guts up in public without covering their noses and mouths
  • People not washing their hands regularly, seemed as though a lot of people didn't even know what handwashing was when this pandemic began

Want back:

  • to be mask free
  • to be able to actually meet up with friends properly
  • People not complaining and talking constantly about covid 19
