How should the debt be clawed back? What would you do if you were government to raise the money?

Also rebanding houses for council tax when an extension is built. I'm sure the laws were put in place when an extension was typically a small addition to extend the kitchen.

Mostly around where I live, people are doubling the size of their property. Adding at least 2 bedrooms. They ought to be charged accordingly from the time the extension is completed.

Maybe council tax is the way to go. Rather than base on value, do it based on number of adults and a nominal charge for children. No opt outs and then everyone pays regardless of salary, job, house size etc. Much fairer than some paying and not others.

Ummm... I'm not sure if this is a serious post. Have you heard of poll tax? That thing which even Thatcher couldn't manage to introduce?

Another drop in the ocean, but how about the MPs paying their share? They forced millions of people to take a 20% pay cut, many of whom will be condemned to unemployment before long; yet the MPs are still on full pay.
