Just a curious thought- would you become vegetarian if it prevented animals from being in close contact in huge numbers to humans?

Yes or No, and why?

Totally agree, Cologne.

You could kill all the animals and eliminate the “risk” altogether? Sounds like you’d create a nightmare but cleaner world.

Husband already vegetarian and definitely thinks that if we all became vegetarian we would have less chance of another pandemic but I'd hope that chances of this happening again are very low anyway. Hope so.
But of course it's not necessarily practical for everyone to become vegetarian. I personally just don't want anything to do with any animals kept or moved in unsuitable conditions. I am heading towards becoming fully veggie myself for that reason.

If you was in a jungle and a tiger or lion was hungry would they say oh I wont eat them because they are vegetarian. No I'll eat meat

Dongdingdong · 21/11/2020 17:00

I think vegetarianism is a good thing, but this particular situation is nothing to do with being vegetarian. It's about China adopting better welfare standards and banning those horrific wet markets.

What’s that got to do with it? Op didn’t ask ‘would you become vegetarian to prevent yourself being eaten by a tiger?’ Confused

Yes agree entirely. Animal welfare is something that should be a given, everywhere.

I promise not to go to gross, unhygienic markets and eat bats, if that helps?
