Closing schools to open pubs is a ridiculous suggestion. There have been no cases at my kids primary for ages, there would be no benefit and big negatives to closing it.

Schools do need proper funding and help to keep going and so they can implement some of the ideas that were suggested in the summer. Unfortunately the government doesn't seem bothered about providing any of that!

I'd never heard of The Range until it kept being mentioned on MN. I've still never seen one!

I knew it existed but dont think I've seen one near me....but not sure why it's so bad!

I hope so. My son works in hospitality and is worried sick about his employer closing down due to this. He bought his first home a year ago and has everything to pay for himself since his partner left in August.

RedToothBrush · 18/11/2020 11:58

Extremely unlikely where I am because rates haven't shifted much since local restrictions which closed hospitality were put in.

whatisforteamum · 18/11/2020 13:46

Bluebel everything crossed for your son.

userxx · 18/11/2020 13:47

@Bluebellbike So worrying.

Bluebellbike · 18/11/2020 13:58

Thanks @whatisforteamum and @userxx

He is only 24 and has never lived alone before. His partner is no longer there as they are in prison, but that's a whole other story and worry. 🙁

userxx · 18/11/2020 14:07

@Bluebellbike Bloody hell!!!! Sounds like he's had a tough year for someone so young :(

Bluebellbike · 18/11/2020 14:35

It's been a horrible year. I'm worried sick. He's moved quite a way away too, 2 hours away by public transport.

They are already hinting about the tightening of tiered restrictions and that Tier1 is largely ineffective. Also such uproar previously about inequalities of benchmarks for applying tiers in different areas. This makes me think that the whole country will move as one to some version of Tier 2 or 3 with no households mixing until a few days over Christmas.

Whattheactual20201 · 18/11/2020 17:33

I think that

They will open shops
Keep pubs etc closed
Allow household mixing for 5 days over Xmas

But pull a early Xmas school holiday.

whatisforteamum · 18/11/2020 20:18

Such a worrying time for retail and hospitality.
