Would you book a 2022 summer holiday?

Through TUI or one of the other big companies? I can’t decide if it’s a savvy thing to do while their prices are still low, or whether they’re at risk of going bust. I suspect we might be priced out of 2021 and the demand will be huge.

Last thing I want is to be stuck moving the dates or whatever and then paying out thousands in “the difference”.

You’ll be fine booking a 2022 holiday

Remmy123 · 12/11/2020 07:14

I'm booking a 2021 holiday!!

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 12/11/2020 07:52

No, I’m waiting just in case the companies don’t make it. Am hoping 2022 will be safe to travel though as don’t think we will be there next year as will take a long time to vaccinate etc.

Magissa · 12/11/2020 07:53

It would be nice to have something to look forward to. Book it!

TheTurnOfTheScrew · 12/11/2020 07:58

no. we only just got back our refund for flights that were cancelled in April. The company spent ages trying to fob us off with a booking credit, which as you say has drawbacks. other than booking a UK cottage holiday for 2021 I'm keeping my money in my pocket for now.

Bwlch · 12/11/2020 07:58

I booked a 2021 holiday back in September.

IHaveBrilloHair · 12/11/2020 07:59

No.

onedayinthefuture · 12/11/2020 08:05

If you pay by credit card you'll be protected anyway. Go for it. I'm hoping for 2021 to do my bit for the travel companies.

Aposterhasnoname · 12/11/2020 08:07

If you book with one of the big companies you’ll be abta /atol protected so why not?

I’ve got two booked for 2021 and I’m looking at 2022 now.

TheTurnOfTheScrew · 12/11/2020 08:33

"If you pay by credit card you'll be protected anyway"

This is true but getting a charge back is still a ball-ache. They expect you to have exhausted the company's customer service and complaints procedures, and even then the company is permitted to dispute the charge back. It's not a quick and easy solution - it's what we did and still it took 7 months.

frozendaisy · 12/11/2020 08:34

Wouldn't book just yet but we are daring to dream this week!

MarieG10 · 12/11/2020 08:34

It has just been in the news of companies that persuaded people to have vouchers as opposed to refunds are now refusing to give a refund if the voucher expires.

I wouldn't give my money to any company to go abroad. We have booked for 2021 in the U.K.

MRex · 12/11/2020 08:36

Make sure it's ABTA and pay by credit card.

I wouldn't, but that's only because I don't like to be tied down by arrangements so it would never suit.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 12/11/2020 08:37

I'm booked for summer 2021 and I think it will happen so definitely 2022.

NeedWineNow · 12/11/2020 09:01

Yes. We've booked for 2021 and also 2022. We need something to look forward to.

Iwantacookie · 12/11/2020 09:03

Oh op I'm in the same boat. We decided against going away last year because of brexit and when it hadnt resolved we put this year on hold too. Dont feel secure enough to book for next year but I too am thinking along the same lines as you for 2022. Watching with interest.

purpleme12 · 12/11/2020 09:04

No I would wait. Too uncertain still

FippertyGibbett · 12/11/2020 09:04

2021 no.
2022 hrs.

FippertyGibbett · 12/11/2020 09:05

I will be singlehandedly saving the travel companies once we are free again !!

herecomesthsun · 12/11/2020 09:08

No. I would bide my time and plot Grin

Bobtheshark · 12/11/2020 09:15

If holidays aren’t back up and running by then there won’t be any holiday companies still in business or hotels to stay in. Go for it!

38weekswithno2 · 12/11/2020 09:15

We're hoping to go abroad next year but we're waiting to book last minute.

JoeBidenIsGreat · 12/11/2020 09:17

I can't plan my life so far in advance in normal times, never mind now.

Mindymomo · 12/11/2020 09:18

Looking at cruises from uk in school holidays, July 2022, and some are already sold out for certain cabins.

We’ve booked uk for 2021 due to what happened this year with prices doubling. Also want to have something to look forward to.
