Why has furlough been extended to the end of March?

Lockdown 2 supposedly finishing on December 2nd so why extend furlough for so long?

Because it won't be till December any more than the last one was 3 weeks. We'll come out for Christmas if we're lucky then be straight back in I reckon.

Because businesses need to plan , January is quiet anyway for a lot of businesses. I suspect when Christmas is out of the way a lot of redundancy will happen . The furloughed extending may provide a lifeline for some and hopefully by March we will be over the worst .
I think what people don't seam to realise extending the furloughed scheme is a hell of a lot cheaper than mass unemployment because that's what will happen after this shit year .
