Playgrounds?

Will you still be visiting playgrounds?

Legally they aren't closing.

They got insanely busy here when they reopened in the summer...

Yes 100% using them.

minipie · 06/11/2020 12:53

Yes if weather permits.

THNG5 · 06/11/2020 12:54

Definitely. Kids are going to nursery anyway.

OverTheRainbow88 · 06/11/2020 12:57

Yes, yes and yes

40somethingJBJ · 06/11/2020 12:57

My parish council have cordoned off the outdoor gym equipment (5 pieces, all about 20m apart and used by approximately nobody), closed the multi use areas (basketball courts and skateboard/bmx track), but left the playground open, which is generally rammed with kids after school, as it’s right next to the school gates. Cannot quite understand the logic if I’m honest!

Spacemonkey2016 · 06/11/2020 13:02

Yep. Playgrounds being open is the main thing keeping me relatively calm. My 3 year old went a bit doolally last time. Our garden is the size of a stamp, and there's only so many walks around the block you can do. This will help massively.

fabulous01 · 06/11/2020 13:02

Absolutely

Fawnfour · 06/11/2020 13:06

No I will not

LittleBipper · 06/11/2020 13:07

We went to ours at school chucking out time yesterday out of pure nosiness and there was about the same amount of kids as usual, 100 maybe plus associated parents and toddlers. Have just told my DS not to play mad tumbling games and not to share snacks and drinks. We're meeting up with home ed friends in parks but they are all mostly just seeing the same 10 kids

Bickles · 06/11/2020 13:07

Yes. Outdoors risk is low. Hand sanitiser before and after.
I really feel that children have lost enough this year.

MrsJonesAndMe · 06/11/2020 13:52

Yes we are!

FuckedyFuck · 06/11/2020 13:58

Yes, I was in one this morning when the most irritating child told me I was breaking the law Hmm

Stellaris22 · 06/11/2020 14:11

No, because whilst my asthma isn't bad enough to shield, I am avoiding mixing as much as possible.

I have absolutely no problem with others using them as they are hugely beneficial for kids.

DD is 7 and our school route means walking past one, so do feel bad saying no.

SquigglePigs · 06/11/2020 14:16

Yes but I have a toddler so we go in the week when the older kids are at school or super early at the weekend before it gets busy. It's really good for her so this feels like an acceptable risk balance for us.

HairyToity · 06/11/2020 14:18

Yes. I can't see it anymore dangerous than school.

anjoux · 06/11/2020 14:36

Yes, I've got a list of good playgrounds in the city which we've not had a chance to visit since restrictions were lifted. My dd is in nursery 3 days but we'll be out at different playgrounds and parks the rest of the week.

MrsJonesAndMe · 06/11/2020 14:37

Were they not then @FuckedyFuck? or were they merely walking past and telling you off? Confused

nanbread · 06/11/2020 14:40

Our local playground gets really busy, the parents hang out (socially distanced) and chat especially after school, it feels like normal... Not complaining but concerned it won't last

OP posts:
mynameiscalypso · 06/11/2020 14:40

Yes, we went yesterday. No shortage of people using it either.

MRex · 06/11/2020 14:49

We go early morning on weekends, they're deserted until 10.30.

SlayDuggee · 06/11/2020 14:50

Yes I took DD to a playground yesterday at lunchtime. There was 2 other children there.

Watermelon999 · 06/11/2020 14:51

It’s really frustrating for me that playgrounds are still open but after school outdoor kids sports clubs are not allowed. The clubs are more of a controlled environment in my opinion and this will mean more kids using the playgrounds. Kids need to burn off energy, and it’s hard in the dark nights to do this safely.

Magicbabywaves · 06/11/2020 14:59

Sure am

WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 06/11/2020 15:00

I've been ok with it while the weather has been warmer, but it's horrible using hand sanitiser outside in this weather. I'm encouraging bike riding, puddle jumping etc much more. But if they want to play at the park they'll have to put up with the hand sanitising!! (Plenty of gloves for the walk/ride home after)

Plus, only if they're not busy, so SD is possible.

movingonup20 · 06/11/2020 15:23

What has annoyed me is they have locked the quieter outdoor gym I use but the playground is rammed today, I'm sure school is back and so I'm guessing most the older ones are meant to be at home self isolating! Rates are very low here
