We only walked past and fortunately did not enter.
With so many not complying I can see the government having no
choice in doing another lockdown

OP posts:
Devilesko · 02/11/2020 12:00

Well they will be shut soon anyway and some probably never reopening

OMG this would make my year, horrible tax dodging racist cunts.
Hopefully all, not some.

Mrsjayy · 02/11/2020 12:01

If it was an English weatherspoons then it will be closed soon so you can relax then.

Ah what a fabulous post, such compassion for those who will lose their jobs...
Cheeseandlobster · 02/11/2020 12:22

Wetherspoons is the only place I have been to where I have witnessed distancing being enforced. A man tried to join a table of 3, a staff member approached and asked if they lived together or in support bubble
When told no, he was made to move to another table. There were perspex screens inbetween every table too

You don't need a mask when eating or drinking either so this is a daft post in the first place

And you don't need to

The level of discourse. 😞

What about the people who work there.
Are you calling them “horrible tax dodging racist cunts” who deserve to lose their jobs.

DenimDrift · 02/11/2020 12:53

did they put the price of pints to 99p?

Devilesko · 02/11/2020 13:35

Many people are losing their jobs, it's a shame, we've lost a business that employed us both and will sell our home. So yes, sympathy for the staff, but I'd see them all close.
They are a bunch of racists, from the top. So pardon me for hoping the multi national goes bust. Couldn't come quick enough for me.

BlanchflowerTulip · 02/11/2020 13:37

The OP's real problem is that he/she just doesn't want people in Wetherspoons, mask or no mask.

So let me get this straight? During the pandemic you've lost your business and your job and yet you're now advocating for thousands more people to lose their jobs just because you dont like the morals of the company they work for... Christ do you have no compassion at all?
RegularHumanBartender · 02/11/2020 14:01

Daft enough to go, you sort of deserve what you get, not like folk don't know

Am I reading this right? People who go to the pub deserve to catch coronavirus?

Xmaspartyanimal · 02/11/2020 14:03

I walked past Wetherspoons this morning. No masks as you can expect but I was surprised how many elderly people were in ( and out too). We are in tier 3 area and lockdown is coming. If I was vulnerable by age or other ways I wouldn't necessarily go to busy town centre let alone Wetherspoons.

RegularHumanBartender · 02/11/2020 14:07

Elderly people are not one homogenous mass who are incapable of making decisions for themselves. Many thousands of elderly people are quite happy to get on with their lives as normal, including going to 'spoons. My 75 year old mum is one of them. She would have strong words for anyone who tried to tell her what she should be doing, in their opinion Hmm

AcornAutumn · 02/11/2020 14:07

Devilesko why do you think they’re all racists?

Devilesko · 02/11/2020 14:08

*LittleMissLockdown.

Couldn't make me happier.
Many people have lost their jobs already, it's a shame and I hope they all find new jobs or UC is very kind to them.

If they are going to close, they are going to close no matter how much sympathy we have for staff.
So, yes if this is the case, then I'm glad.

Everyone is different. We used to take mum to the local cafe but had to stop in case test and trace left us trapped indoors for a fortnight.

Not the thread for it but google, please.
They were forced to pay out thousands in court cases.
Then did a u- turn when their racism was highly publicised.
I don't blame the staff or individual management, this came from the top, no mistake.

I did that I didn’t come across anything that looked like a directive from the top.

I'm aghast that anyone could show such a clear lack of compassion. Shock

Devilesko · 02/11/2020 14:28

Acorn

Too many incidences for it to be individual premises/ management.
Was a company policy at one time. Hence the report saying changing policies.

Devilesko · 02/11/2020 14:30

I can assure you, people losing their jobs does bother me, but so does not supporting or wishing well a company with such racist policies.
I find the two equally important.
Obviously you are privileged enough not to have spent your life fighting fuckin racists.

For some elderly people their visit to Wetherspoons might be the only bit of social contact they have. Can hardly blame them for taking their chances and not just hiding under the bed.
Xmaspartyanimal · 02/11/2020 14:48

@BlanchflowerTulip I have understood that in tier 3 you can only go to restaurants with your own household. I don't really understand why they are taking risks. Elderly I know avoid all the busy places. They meet outside for a walk in parks.

Mrsjayy · 02/11/2020 14:55

The old people are maybe bubbling with a friend where are these weatherspoons with ginormous windows that you can see everything that's going on ? The one I walk past you can only see people sitting at windows seats.
