Can we drive to an area for a walk?

Or is it like last time when you had to walk/exercise in your local area.
I want to be able to take my toddler on a walk in the woods that’s a 15 min drive from us.

Of course you can. Just do it.

The MN Covid and Lockdown Police are keyboard warriors who are so much more mouthy and pedantic online than anyone is in real life.

Just remember that you must never sit on park benches and must sanitise any gates that you touch because otherwise you will leave them inches thick with viruses and other germs and will murder grannies.

If possible also open gates with your feet so that you don't touch the utter filth left by us mere mortals and then (horror of horrors) touch your face with it. Yes, I clearly remember in the early part of the first lockdown someone did seriously suggest this on a thread.

We will want to see a video of you performing this trick. 😉

I will be driving for dog walks with the kids at wooded areas where we can be away from others.

Wellbeing of me, the kids and the dog outweighs the small likelihood of us breaking down and needing assistance.

@vera99

A lot of stuff is either just made up here or is pro-trolls working for MN keeping the threads humming with righteous indignation or most probably a mixture of both.
Yes I've often thought that, despite being called a Tory shill/bot myself.

Being outside and moving about in the fresh air is great for your health, physical and mental, and so is the simple psychological impact of getting a change of scenery during a time when people are going to be spending more time at home.

Everyone should be positively encouraged to get out and about and spend time outside, where it's easier to keep a good distance and there is very little chance of a virus spreading and the benefits hugely outweigh the risks. It is hugely irresponsible and counter productive for public health to 'beg' people to use exercise bikes instead of getting outside into green spaces if they possibly can. If there isn't one on your doorstep you absolutely should drive to access one if that's an option for you. Proactively protecting and boosting your physical and mental health is a great thing you can do for the NHS at any time, if your motivation is helping the NHS rather than yourself.

You are so lucky in the UK to be able to do unlimited exercise. Here in France 1 hour a day and no more than 1km from home.

It's not lucky if your government hasn't severely restricted your basic right to go outside in what is supposed to be a free country based on extremely flimsy epidemiological grounds. You sound like someone saying 'Oh you're lucky your husband just controls your money, at least he doesn't hit you like mine does'.

What a mindset some people have got themselves into, it's unbelievable.

National Trust places are staying open. I presume this means the government is happy for me to drive to them as all are huge houses in the middle of vast grounds and are unwalkable for all but a tiny few.

I have booked a NT outing for Saturday, obviously we are going to drive.
