Does anyone actually know people who have the risk factors ie Asthma, breathing problems or over weight that has tested positive for Covid and made a full recovery?
You hear so much about the bad stories I am interested to hear if there are any good outcomes for high risk people.
We know two couples aged 65+ who have have recently tested positive and are all back to work and fighting fit after their isolation :)

Yes. My 80 Yr old aunt. Long term bone cancer, receiving treatment and immune system low, also suffering with shingles. Tested negative when admitted to hospital for emergency treatment for the shingles. Tested positive 2 weeks later on being moved to a different location. Asymptomatic.

On paper she would have been one of the least likely to survive if she caught it.

Yes. My 87 yr old father who was convalescing in a care home in March after major lung surgery in February. He was infected with Covid in an outbreak at the care home. Spent another 10 days in hospital, now fine.

I also knew someone without any risk factors (23, fit, female) who sadly didn’t recover.

I can think of several others of middling risk (over 50 but generally fit) who have made more or less good recoveries - some have long Covid or enduring blood clotting problems.

I was talking to an elderly client last week. He has been in and out of hospital all summer, heart problems, breathing problems, clearly very unwell. He caught covid in hospital, but recovered fine and is now home, although still suffering from everything else!

My best friends mum caught covid in the care home that she works in. She’s 60 and diabetic.
No one believed her in her family that she had it until her actual test results came back, as she still managed to chain smoke throughout. Other than a dry throat and feeling rough for a few days she was right as rain a week after.

Me. 44. Bmi 52. High blood pressure and most likely pre diabetic.

A few days breathless and lost sense and smell

Totally fine now

Indoctro · 27/10/2020 21:07

BIL .
Type 1 diabetic
Only symptoms loss of taste / snell apart from that felt absolutely fine and not remotely unwell in anyway.

Seasiderabbit · 27/10/2020 21:25

SIL, diabetic, obese, asthma. Age 42. She had a cough and a headache and was poorly for a night then gradually got better over the next week. Full recovery within 10 days.

SpringSunshineandTulips · 27/10/2020 21:33

I’d be interested to know from those who said ‘diabetic’ whether it is type1 or type2? Thanks.

My neighbour, in his 80s, obese - had a very mild (confirmed) case and now fully recovered.

89redballoons · 27/10/2020 21:39

A friend of mine who is very overweight had it, and so did her husband who is also quite overweight. Their toddler also tested positive. My friend said she only really felt ill for an evening and after that it was just very mild cold symptoms. Her DH also had really mild symptoms and recovered. The toddler was off her food for a couple of days but otherwise completely fine.

Blueberries0112 · 27/10/2020 21:51

Tom Hank is diabetic

Dauphinois · 27/10/2020 21:51

My 78 year old MIL was completely asymtomatic. She was only tested as FIL was admitted to hospital with suspected covid. He ended up with pneumonia but tested negative ( go figure?!)

BlanchflowerTulip · 27/10/2020 21:54

I have a male relative in his 60s, morbidly obese with a heart condition. He tested positive, at which time he had no symptoms. He subsequently developed a mild cough which lasted about five days. Now fully recovered, no long term symptoms.

Female relative, also in her 60s. Overweight, not particularly fit. Flu like symptoms for about 10 days, now out and about, no long term symptoms.

boarboar · 27/10/2020 21:56

Sister, young and athletic but with asthma. Felt like a cold with a cough, totally fine now 10 days later.

lottie2008 · 27/10/2020 21:57

A friend of mine. BMI 59, T2 diabetic, high blood pressure, asthmatic. Ended up spending 10days ICU but now fully recovered. Confused

Sadless · 27/10/2020 22:11

6 year old with genetic condition had open heart surgery soon after birth because couldn't breathe properly and turning blue. He got it at school and had a temperature all better now.

Yes I know 3. One who has diabetes, kidney failure, hypertension and morbid obesity. Survived. Was quite poorly with a fever though but didn't require hospitalisation.

1 who is asthmatic, survived
And another who is a diabetic, apart from having high blood sugars than normal, survived and had mildly.

MrsSnitchnose · 27/10/2020 22:23

My Nan. 80 years old, obese and suffering from angina and high blood pressure. Ill for a couple of weeks and fully recovered (had a chest infection at the same time)

wherestheotherone · 27/10/2020 22:23

Me, high blood pressure, astma, very overweight.

Friends husband, hbp, diabetes, asthma and overweight.

My uncle, 79, cancer patient receiving treatment, asymptotic!

But I do know 2 female family members with long covid. They had minimal symptoms but have never recovered after months.

wherestheotherone · 27/10/2020 22:25

That's asthma and asymptomatic. Still far fingers
