My neighbour has covid and visitors

So my neighbour just found out he has covid this morning....he is using his parents to bring him stuff.... which is fine, they are at the door with masks on.... except that they are usually in is house house every day, including last night! In my opinion they should also be isolating!
Now he has workmen at his house! I don't want to cause problems with the neighbours by telling workmen but I feel so sorry for them and the god knows how many people's houses they are now going to visit! I have no idea if he has told them he has covid but I'm totally shocked that he didn't cancel/would be even more shocked if they have agreed to enter a house with covid!
This is the problem with the world/prevention of this virus. stupid people!

You need to speak to him urgently and the workmen. That's really really bad.

covetingthepreciousthings · 23/10/2020 17:04

This is very irresponsible, I think I'd be tempted to have a quiet word with the workmen. They may then unintentionally put other vulnerable people at risk.

How did you find out the neighbour had Covid did he tell you?

covetingthepreciousthings · 23/10/2020 17:05

Actually not only that but the workmen themselves could be vulnerable. It's ridiculous what your neighbour is doing.

I also agree his parents should be isolating if they are in a support bubble with him.

Aquamarine1029 · 23/10/2020 17:05

My god. That's deplorable. How dare he be so cavalier with other people's health.

Comefromaway · 23/10/2020 17:07

I work for a plumbing/heating firm and my boss would be livid if anyone put any of the workers at risk like that.

Violetparis · 23/10/2020 17:08

If you don't know your neighbour and his family then you you have no idea what else may be going on in their lives, one of them may have cancer, be in the midst of a mental health crisis for example rather than just 'stupidity' as you've stated.

netstaller · 23/10/2020 17:08

Can't the police enforce it now? In a case like that I would certainly be informing them dozens of people could be infected as a result

Elieza · 23/10/2020 17:27

If you’re sure he defo has COVID. Still. I’d phone the police too. Those workies could be going home to a seriously ill cancer patient wife or anything. It could kill her.

MadeForThis · 23/10/2020 17:35

Are there any contact details on the workmen's van? You could notify them anonymously.

Racoonworld · 23/10/2020 17:37

Please tell the workmen

picklemewalnuts · 23/10/2020 17:38

@Violetparis no personal tragedy makes it ok for someone with confirmed coronavirus to have workmen in the house.

And no personal tragedy makes it ok to give CV to your parents by taking NO measures to distance while you are waiting for your test result.

The parents and the workers should now be isolating for 14 days and getting tested if they have symptoms. The parents are now unable to visit him with supplies because they have to self isolate because of their previous contact with him.

What has this got to do with workmen being in the house? He's being incredibly stupid, if they have a van I would phone the company.
namechanger0989 · 23/10/2020 17:40

I did think about calling the work place actually. I'm gobsmacked.
He definitely has covid, he told us himself.
His daughter (adult but lives with them) is in hospital having major surgery at the minute as well so he should absolutely know better!
The workmen wore masks and gloves and sanitised their hands when they came out so maybe they knew which is almost worse!

namechanger0989 · 23/10/2020 17:41

It's definitely just stupidity/ignorance!

OP posts:
namechanger0989 · 23/10/2020 17:43

I was feeling really sorry for them earlier and was about to go buy a card and gift for daughter and offer our help if they need it!

MJMG2015 · 23/10/2020 17:44

I'd definitely contact the tradesmen (name on van)

& the council, though being a Friday night you might need to call the police 101 instead.

No matter what else is going on in someone's life they don't have the right to go about their lives infecting others.

M0rT · 23/10/2020 17:51

My DH is a workman and I have cancer. Tell them.

Absolutely inform the workers, what a massive cunt.
hm246 · 23/10/2020 17:57

That’s awful!!! I’d definitely contact the police.

Torvean32 · 24/10/2020 01:11

I would tell the workmen. They're probably wearing a mask and gloves to be cautious. I bet they have no idea he is positive. They potentially have their own health risks and are visiting other houses. They shouldn't be near his house.

WhereverIGoddamnLike · 24/10/2020 01:17

It doesnt matter if they were masks. The masks sont stop them catching it from him!

Did you go and tell them? Or at least call the company? They all need to isolate or risk infecting anyone else who is having, I assume, vital work done.

If you didnt tell them, then do it in the morning.

MrsTerryPratchett · 24/10/2020 01:21

I work in housing and all our workers going into houses wear gloves and masks all the time. They absolutely wouldn't enter the house of someone with a positive test. In fact we keep a list of people who are testing for this exact reason.

Please please shop them. This isn't 7 people for Christmas dinner. This is serious.

covetingthepreciousthings · 24/10/2020 07:50

What did you do in the end @namechanger0989 ?

annabel85 · 24/10/2020 08:50

Some people really just don't give a shit, do they? That or they aren't blessed with the brains they were born with.

And Boris talks about relying on British common sense.

annabel85 · 24/10/2020 08:51

And phone the police. You might just save someone's life.
