*- so long as you don't die, a stint in ICU is nothing to worry about and in fact is a sort of extended hotel stay

  • the only two outcomes from catching covid are death or fully recovered with no lasting problems*

The ignorance of these two statements are astounding. Have you ever been in an ICU? It is not a pleasant place to be believe me and no way like a sort of extended hotel stay.

There are also many, many people suffering with long lasting problems. I know very well a fit formerly healthy 31 year old who had two stints in hospital, now on steroids with damaged lungs.

That comment was sarcastic.

@ Redolent
Sorry was skimming and actually thought somebody was being serious!

But you know on some of the other threads where everybody is going to be piling into each other's houses for Christmas Day amalgamating 3 or more families it's not a wonder I actually thought somebody was being serious!

As with other heads of state, they will be cautious and admit early. Think of Trump. Who knows if she may have underlying conditions. It's a bit vague in the news reporting to know what is actually going on.

Surely she must also just be super worn out from the past few months. Governing Belgium through a crisis without having actual proper powers (don't forget, she wasn't leading a "proper" government - Belgium didn't have one through the entire corona crisis until a few weeks ago, and she become foreign minister) can't be healthy for anyone... best of luck to her!
