How "exposed" are you?

It's just occurred to me that as a family we are incredibly exposed.

5yo and 7yo are in different bubbles of 120 kids per bubble and 2yo goes to nursery (no official bubble but there are 25 kids in her room when she attends). We also do weekly physio for the 2yo (its a group session so exposure to another 6 people) plus weekly swimming lessons (people are socially distanced but there are still a good 30 people in a poorly ventilated area)

My MIL provides childcare a few days a week (so more exposure there) and I've just had the sudden death of my mother and her funeral to deal with so I've been mixing households with my dad and siblings. We can cut back on this now we've had the funeral but I want to be around my family whilst we grieve and come to terms with our loss.

I know I am probably nowhere near as exposed as some but writing it down, I feel very scared.

(I'm tier 2, a London Borough that has 106 per 100k but relatively low death rates!)

I thought we were reasonably unexposed. Then today both DC get sent home to self isolate because there has been a positive test result at school that they have been in contact with. So two weeks isolation, wiping out the (very small anyway) plans we had for half term.

WoobyWoo · 20/10/2020 18:05

I wfh, have to go in only for emergencies and to deliver food parcels etc but I go to school, the shop etc. Mainly exercise outdoors by myself.

DH works for himself, mainly outside but lots of exposure to different groups of people.

Dc are in school and were back at football, rugby and swimming prior to this.

I’d say medium.

Dongdingdong · 20/10/2020 18:06

Fairly exposed, if having to take public transport in London with people wearing masks around their necks counts as exposed.

toomanypillows · 20/10/2020 18:06

I work in a 6th form (small building /shared classrooms and communal spaces) with a bubble of 365. My area is on the watch list (currently 222 per 100k) and we've had 24 positive cases in the centre. I've had to isolate twice since the start of term.

DH has been out at work throughout lockdown but in a fairly small safe office.

One DC at primary school which closed just before half term due to 5 positive staff cases. Other DC in a large secondary school in a bubble of 300 year 7s, but only one positive case there.

I'm CV. Not feeling great about our risk atm.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 20/10/2020 18:08

No DC, I am WFH, and DP has been made redundant. In Scotland so no socialising indoors at home, have been out for lunch and coffee occasionally, but do go to the M&S foodhall pretty much every day to get a walk. I get my hair cut every five weeks, and eyebrows done every three.

DP visits his mum who lives alone and is in our extended household/bubble, but rarely goes out as she has been poorly (not Covid).

Crystalknobs · 20/10/2020 18:09

I’m in tier 2 and at work am exposed to all
And bloody sundry. Two customers had travelled from Liverpool another from somewhere else 100’s of miles away, all to buy something that could probably be put off until another time.
My employer is also very lax at ensuring social distancing and sanitising is being carried out.

Bickles · 20/10/2020 18:12

I am the weak link. DH is WFH. DS is in a bubble of 22 and not doing any extra curricular at the moment except tutoring which is 4 others.
I work 1 day at a University and 1 day in a dental practice. I wear PPE all the time at work but feel that I am exposing us the most.

Mainly exposed through children in primary and secondary school.

We get shopping delivered and don't even go to church any more.

We don't really do household mingling.

Mind you, having been shielding, even a bike ride feels quite exciting.

I am very lucky though that I only have to go across the road to be somewhere very beautiful.

glitterelf · 20/10/2020 18:32

We as a family are very exposed. I'm a childminder so my childminding bubble is vast due to the families I care for having dynamic family bubbles. My husband lost his job and is now working on the bins through an agency driving the lorry but often has different loaders he's working with and 3 blokes crammed into the lorry.
My eldest is working in a warehouse so mixing with hundreds. Middle one is at college half the week and remote learning the rest but has to use the buses to and from so mixing with lots of other people.
Youngest is in school though I'd rather have her home so that's another bubble that's bigger than it should be.
I'm sticking to the rules our rates of infection is higher than some of the others in tier 2 yet we're still in tier 1.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 20/10/2020 19:03

Very I'd imagine. Have a DS at primary school. I can't work from home so I'm going out to work every day. I don't have a car so if I need to get somewhere I have to use public transport. I go to the shops, restaurants, cinemas.

kimlo · 20/10/2020 19:17

between 2 dds in different school bubbles of about 300, my work bubble and dh's customer facing role, pretty exposed.

MissPoldark · 20/10/2020 19:18

Pretty exposed.
DC at school in a bubble of 60.
WFH but in the office a couple of days per week in a high risk setting.
Sometimes have no choice about issuing public transport.
DH worked throughout in open plan office environment.
Currently a high risk area.

Useruseruserusee · 20/10/2020 19:22

I would say we are very exposed.

DH teaches all year groups at his secondary school including sixth form. I’m SLT at a primary school and I’m covering whenever teachers are off, so I’ve been in a few different bubbles.

DS1 is in his class bubble.

DS2 was formerly shielded and we have no choice but to use my Mum to look after him due to the care he needs for his disability resulting from a health condition. I worry about him and my Mum, I don’t want to pass the virus on to either of them. DS2’s surgeon is clear that being in nursery would be too much of a risk but the rest of us are mixing with 100s of other children....

Useruseruserusee · 20/10/2020 19:23

Oh, and we are Tier 2.

lljkk · 20/10/2020 19:29

yr8 DS is in a bubble of 28
Bigger DS seems to mix pretty freely at college, but he's shy, really just a few ppl he interacts with
Our HH is bubbled with my friend who lives alone, she mixes little with others
We don't see anyone else socially
DH sometimes goes to office but spaced apart there

Tier1 area. I reckon we're quite low risk.

MarshaBradyo · 20/10/2020 19:30

70ish per 100k

Nursery plus two school

Mostly wfh with odd trips in

RedskyAtnight · 20/10/2020 19:33

1 DC at secondary school; the other in sixth form. About 500ish people.
1 DC has regular medical appointments. So contact with variety of medical staff.

Basically if you have a DC in secondary school your exposure is high before you do anything else at all.

Allthedoggos · 20/10/2020 19:45

Very little. I've been wfh since March, DH isn't working atm (thank you covid) so is also at home all day too. No DCs.

Literally the only places we go are the supermarket, occasionally places like Homebase or B&M, and to walk the dog.

Chronicallymothering · 20/10/2020 19:50

Tier 1 area.

DS1 bubble of 36.
DS2 bubble of 38.

Both working from home, Ocado delivery for shopping.

Husband mixing with one friend for socially distanced run once a week.

Really low exposure but I have compromised immunity so we didn't even go many places in the summer.

catsjammies · 20/10/2020 20:01

Not very I don't think. DD at nursery, I think her bubble has about 30 kids? Other than that I'm at home and DH WFH with the very occasional day in the office and to go out to dinner with a mate to keep his sanity.

Barbie222 · 20/10/2020 20:12

I'm a teacher in a primary bubble of 60, cases in sons secondary school, predict it'll be through his year group soon. 2 other children in school, in different bubbles of 60. So yeah I'm a vector

glastogal · 20/10/2020 20:17

Not too exposed. DP is wfh, I'm a sahp. DS not yet in nursery and we tend to spend time either at home or in outdoor settings. Only visit a few people, usually do click and collect weekly shop but do have to do the odd top up. Biggest exposure currently comes from repeated vet and hospital trips for sick animals/complex pregnancy. I try to limit our exposure elsewhere to compensate. My area is currently tier 1.

MiracletoCome · 20/10/2020 20:17

Probably about average, retired, DH wfh but at moment on holiday in Cotswolds in touring caravan and using facilities on site, going to NT type places and out walking, we live in tier one area with about 80-90 cases/100,000.

Glitterynails · 20/10/2020 20:27

I’m a teacher and my two children attend school. We are very exposed. DH works from home but is exposed through us. My unborn baby is also exposed.
