Parents cannot have contact with children if they live in an area with a different tier? Pretty sure this is wrong and child contact continues...

Nappyvalley15 · 16/10/2020 16:56

Yeah I wondered that too.

Splodgetastic · 16/10/2020 16:57

I was wondering whether the bloke who asked the question was trying to have contact with his children or trying to avoid....

Nappyvalley15 · 16/10/2020 16:59

Would explain BJ's response Smile

I saw that.

It was clarified back in the first lockdown as "providing care" and therefore acceptable, and that contact agreed and ordered should continue, however I can see how his utterance Hmm will have to be corrected as there will be panic.

So, yes, contact continues.

RedMarauder · 16/10/2020 17:04

Yep he dropped another clanger.

It is regarded as care.

TopBitchoftheWitches · 16/10/2020 17:05

Bit fucking late to announce that on a Friday evening.

My children were picked up from our tier two area at 3.30pm by their dad in a tier one. It is the only household we mix with though.

EvieRussell · 16/10/2020 17:06

Probably just trying to avoid his own children.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 16/10/2020 17:08

I'm tier two and DS's dad is tier one. DS will be seeing his dad as normal.

DominaShantotto · 16/10/2020 17:11

They'll bluster on about it all weekend and then someone will be wheeled out on Monday morning breakfast TV to carry the blame and "clarify" it.

If he's fucking banning parents from seeing their kids - that's going to push a lot of people over the edge into total defiance.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 16/10/2020 17:14

I was watching the words come out of his mouth thinking they're going to come out with a correction on this tomorrow.

Or possibly Sunday when whoever has drawn the short straw this week gets interviewed on the morning shows.

RedMarauder · 16/10/2020 17:18

@TopBitchoftheWitches BJ is wrong for 2 reasons -

  1. Exemption where parents/guardians of children under 18 don't live together, and ,
  2. You can travel between tier 1 and 2 though not recommended.
RedMarauder · 16/10/2020 17:19

@EvieRussell

Probably just trying to avoid his own children.
He can't say how many he has so he can't avoid those he doesn't know about.
carcarbinks · 16/10/2020 17:21

I've just been trying to find the answer to this as DS is going to his dad in tier 2. Boris is an absolute useless idiot.

WankPuffins · 16/10/2020 17:22

I can’t see many people adhering to that rule IF it were true.

I’d certainly not stop sending my Ds to his dad if we were in that situation.

My friend abusive Ex Tried to use it against her in March though to try and keep the children. She went through hell (until he realised that three young children 24/7 are hard work and sent them back after a week).

ineedaholidaynow · 16/10/2020 17:37

BBC news website has covered the point and I think corrected Boris

Fink · 16/10/2020 17:38

Does anyone know what the rules are about contact with NRP when the dc are in self-isolation (following contact with a positive case rather than with covid themselves) or quarantine (after holiday)?

I got this from the government website, but it's not at all clear to me what it means and it doesn't seem to cover self-isolation if the dc aren't the infected ones:
'If you do have symptoms of coronavirus, speak to your parents or guardians about staying in one home until you recover but both families should follow the isolation guidance for 14 days.'

DD's whole class are self-isolating following an infection of one pupil. I don't know if she's allowed to self-isolate across both parents' households or if she has to stay in one.

@EvieRussell

Probably just trying to avoid his own children.
Absolutely Grin
MotherOfDragonite · 16/10/2020 18:03

You also would have thought that Boris would know this given his own family situation! Either he thinks the rules don't apply to him, or he doesn't bother to see his own children...

Fink · 16/10/2020 18:04

@MotherOfDragonite

I would have thought both are highly likely.
IntentIntel · 16/10/2020 18:05

Probably just trying to avoid his own children

He probably can't count past 15, so it's easier to avoid Grin

MotherOfDragonite · 16/10/2020 18:06

That is so true. It could be both!

PigletJohn · 16/10/2020 18:13

Volume 1.

Did Boris drop another clanger?
JJsDinerWaffles · 16/10/2020 18:13

Boris probably thinks that what people want is an excuse to get out of seeing their kids....Angry

GrumblyMumblyisnotJumbly · 16/10/2020 18:15

Boris just wants everyone to visit the website. It's his Mystic 8 ball. Saves him learning the 'clear' rules he asks the public to follow.

mumwon · 16/10/2020 18:31

Grandparents who childcare for their grandchildren can continue? ie go to their dgc home? It was mentioned before but know we have this tier system -I think I have lost the plot -example gp is tier 1 dgc tier 2? & can they stay the night?
