Tier 2 length of time?

Is the length of time Tier 2 is to be put in place initially for 4 weeks? Can’t find any info.

OP posts:

Well Johnson gets his way pitting us against each other and blaming Other People.
But I still think "Fuck you" to all those people who ignored it happening to us. At least you are getting due notice of it.

Lowkee · 15/10/2020 13:16

Well if it doesn't concern you Bellinsurge, why are you on here going Hahaha to the rest of us now facing stricter measures. Schadenfraude.

bellinisurge · 15/10/2020 13:18

Nice Lowkee .

Lowkee · 15/10/2020 13:21

@bellinisurge

Nice Lowkee .
Asking a genuine question. You're not just saying hahaha, you've said you've come on here to say 'Fuck You' to us.
Lowkee · 15/10/2020 13:24

Schadenfreude was referring to your feelings about us, not my feelings about Northerners. You've come on here to gloat at our misery. That's the very definition of schadenfreude.

Hardbackwriter · 15/10/2020 14:04

@raddledoldmisanthropist

And what are they going to measure against? Essex has very low numbers, lower than places which are not in tier 2.

R rate and number of cases requiring critical care compared to peak emergency capacity within 50 miles of the worst concentration in the region (i.e. roughly how long before the NHS has to start turning away everything but emergencies).

Is the length of time Tier 2 is to be put in place

Depends on how bad winter gets.

Currently death rate doubling every 11 days or so. That's a peak around 200-250 if the latest plan works brilliantly and R=1 today.

If you asked me to bet I'd guess March/April.

If that's what they're basing it on they should be clear and explicit about the numbers and the parameters. At the moment they're talking about case numbers (and note that Essex is the only one given as a range not an average, because the average makes it clear what an outlier it is).
Tier 2 length of time?
bellinisurge · 15/10/2020 14:06

I'm not gloating at your misery. I am expressing annoyance that you think this shit is new and all about you. As for "it doesn't affect me" ? That's rather the point. It affects everyone. But you didn't notice that until it directly affected you.

Lowkee · 15/10/2020 14:23

Well it didn't affect me until today Bellinsurge.

ChristmasCantComeSoonEnough · 15/10/2020 14:25

@Lowkee

I'm on the outer edge of London with a relatively low rate of COVID compared to the national average. But being treated the same as boroughs with high incidences.
Your situation is similar to Cheshire which seemed to have been put under restrictions so our hospitals can take patients from the so rounding areas which have higher cases.
Lowkee · 15/10/2020 14:34

Ye, apparently there is so much mixing with different parts of London that it's to be treated as a whole. But my borough has consistently been in the bottom quarter of cases since all this shit began.

Lowkee · 15/10/2020 14:36

Your situation is similar to Cheshire which seemed to have been put under restrictions so our hospitals can take patients from the so rounding areas which have higher cases. That's fucking shit and underhand. When are they going to say that it's NHS capacity and not R rate or number of cases that's affecting their decision making.

TheFormattingIsWrong · 15/10/2020 14:38

I am expressing annoyance that you think this shit is new and all about you

But we don't.

mpsw · 15/10/2020 14:42

I also think they will probably relax rules to allow for Christmas as apparently they have made an allowance in the legislation for remembrance day

Statement today is to keep away from the Cenotaph (much smaller ceremony by invitation only) and to mark the event at home.

Some cities (eg York) have already cancelled their events, and RBL is recommending small private ceremonies (eg with your own household in your garden), online events, tree planting and letter writing to veterans and serving personnel

TicTacTwo · 15/10/2020 15:05

I think you've had some dick replies.
If London had locked down first you would have ended up with northerners ignoring this as it didn't affect them.

I am expressing annoyance that you think this shit is new and all about you

This shit is new for some people and it affects their plans and lives so they have every right to want to ask questions about it.

Lowkee · 15/10/2020 15:33

This shit is new for some people and it affects their plans and lives so they have every right to want to ask questions about it. Not just some people, millions of people. Not hundreds or even tens of thousands - millions. Of course people are going to complain! Or maybe Northerners don't get bothered too much about these things! I'm not exactly too worried about Tier 2 as it doesn't affect me too much. It affects my children and the pan effect of it has affected me visiting relatives abroad and them visiting here. Even Tier 1 affected me as I've come up on the waiting list for counselling and all they can offer is telephone counselling which I don't see any benefit in as you can't really compare a physical session with a virtual one. Tier 3 will annoy the shit out of me as I've planned to get my hair highlighted in the beginning of November and I've just started back at the gym after a long period of illness. I'm sorry that I don't care so much that Bellinsurge couldn't meet her relatives since August but I'm sorry to tell you, I've enough to worry about myself!

ChristmasCantComeSoonEnough · 15/10/2020 15:52

The news we’re talking about tier 2 as if it was totally new this morning. It was like they thought none of their viewers would’ve heard of it before. Talk about London centric.

Lowkee · 15/10/2020 15:58

Greater Manchester mayor giving a very strong statement on Sky now. I agree with every word he has said.

Raindrops13 · 15/10/2020 16:22

Well I’m in Essex and we already fulfil the criteria for being in level 1 although we are moving to level 2. I’m not sure how they will decide we can move back there now!

Polkadotties · 15/10/2020 16:40

Sounds like the greater Manchester mayor has a backbone unlike my ECC councillor

Lowkee · 17/10/2020 09:21

Yes, saw headline on Metro I think yesterday re Manchester mayor, something like "No. 10's Night-mayor". It was about the Manchester guy. I didn't get to find out whether Greater manchester remains in Tier 2 or not, but his arguments were so strong and brilliantly articulated that I hope they have. Tier 3 is a lot of pain for little to no gain long-term. Or indeed short-term really. We're fucked in London with Sadiq as he's all for lockdown Angry
