Anyone else concerned we'll be added into the lock down of 'the north'?

I’m in Cheshire East and wondering what will happen tomorrow.

YerawizardHarree · 11/10/2020 21:17

Yeah same. We are close to Stockport who will be under heavy restrictions but also Derbyshire who aren't. It's a weird one!

Yep. We are my mum's super bubble, but she lives 2 hours away and now I'm worried we won't be able to see her over half term...

EspressoPatronum · 11/10/2020 21:19

Support bubble!

EmmaWithTheGreatHair · 11/10/2020 21:25

@EspressoPatronum I much prefer Super Bubble Grin

YerawizardHarree · 11/10/2020 21:30

Super bubble sounds great haha! My mum lives in wales and they're thinking of doing a 2 week quarantine from England haha!

My family are - we’re over 200 miles away & were planning on my parents at least coming down in late Oct or November, so hope that it isn’t included!

If it wasn’t for my mum’s job, we’d have had them here for longer, as my DDad is vulnerable and we have so few cases.

QuietFlame · 11/10/2020 21:35

I’m in Cheshire East, close to the Staffordshire border.
I’m wondering whether we will be Tier 2 ?
Although I’m hearing from local restaurant owners that that may be the worst of both worlds, no financial support but customer numbers down due to no household mixing.

yelday · 11/10/2020 21:36

Yes, and we are very close to Greater Manchester. We are right next to the Stockport border.

GenderApostate19 · 11/10/2020 21:36

DD lives in Cheshire East (just about) but teaches in Stoke, I live in N Staffs and provide daily childcare for DGS. I have visions of being stopped at the ‘border’ 😳
Her partner works in Manchester and his kids are in Liverpool ( they have them at weekends) .

YerawizardHarree · 11/10/2020 21:38

@yelday hello neighbour! We live extremely close to the Stockport border too, perhaps even in the same village beginning with D..

I work 20 miles away so it will be interesting to hear what the restrictions will be and of course the new slogan!

EmmaWithTheGreatHair · 11/10/2020 21:38

30 miles from my hometown in Cheshire East

EmmaWithTheGreatHair · 11/10/2020 21:39

20 miles ffs! Sorry!

YerawizardHarree · 11/10/2020 21:43

@EmmaWithTheGreatHair yes I work in a hospital in Manchester I'm sure they'll let me still go but it will be interesting for sure

@YerawizardHarree Hi, I think I know where you mean however no we live beginning with H-- so closer to the Airport.

Comefromaway · 11/10/2020 22:02

I’m right on the Staffordshire side of the border. My daughter has just returned to college in Cheshire west after a 2 week closure.

YerawizardHarree · 12/10/2020 00:03

I hope we're not included but I can see it happening Sad

I am in Cheshire West and our numbers are similar. I think whatever is imposed will be across West and East Cheshire. Pretty crap all round. Relatives live just over the border in Wales so cannot see them and DD’s boyfriend is on the Wirral.

SistemaAddict · 12/10/2020 06:41

@YerawizardHarree dcs' godparents are in a village beginning with D and their side of the very short road is Stockport and the other is Cheshire East. We are a few miles away and come under Stockport although we are on the outer edge. Stockport rates have gone from between 8 and 12 at the start of term to over 250. As someone previously shielded when rates were much lower it's bloody scary. We had bubbled with my elderly mum as our mental health needed (both single adults) it but her's particularly and then last night school emailed to say there's a positive case in dd2's year so we are now quite worried. But I digress. It's very bizarre to have two sides of a street under different rules. It's only got a handful of houses. As a family we will do whatever it takes to keep everyone safe.

Deliaskis · 12/10/2020 07:28

Cheshire East here too and I'm expecting us to be tier 2 ☹. Not sure how we can avoid it really unless the thresholds are a lot higher than expected.

hellsbells99 · 12/10/2020 08:26

I would think Cheshire East and West may both be in tier 3 given how high the rates are. My DD1 is already getting anxious at the prospect of gyms closing. I just want to be able to visit my mum and DD2 still.

hellsbells99 · 12/10/2020 08:43

Just read on another thread that according to The Times that only Liverpool will be in tier 3 - not sure how true that is. Does that mean a lot of the country will be put in tier 2? Cheshire West rates are just over 150 with Cheshire East just under.

groundhogmum · 12/10/2020 09:00

We live in Cheshire East also, very close to the border with Stockport and only 10 minutes from the airport. I think we’re likely to be tier 2, my elderly mum is in our support bubble but lives in an area with very low cases so hoping we can still see her at half term Confused

Deliaskis · 12/10/2020 09:10

I can't imagine we'd jump from no additional restrictions to tier 3...there are many places with much higher rates who would be candidates for tier 3, so I'm assuming we'll be 3. I'm frustrated about likely tier 2 restrictions but can understand why it will be deemed necessary....the thing I worry about is that nobody ever seems to come out of additional restrictions once in them. It seems like a one way street....greater restrictions, rates rise anyway...I don't get what the actual objective is, given it doesn't seem to work anywhere else.

Although I'm assuming a lot here about the restrictions at each tier, based on what's been leaked.
