He’s telling me that as it’s a new cough he shouldn’t be going to school tomorrow.

Do I keep him off?
Do I get him tested?

I have read all the paraphernalia but his only symptom is a sore throat and a bit of a cough. Definitely not continuous.

Any advice?
He’s giving me the teenager stare 🙄🙄🙄

Are you stupid?? And I mean that genuinely, from the bottom of my heart. Are you fucking stupid??

How on earth do you know what has caused this cough?? Ridiculous. Why not put it on social media instead of here and let the people that know you, REALLY know you

This is clearly how every parent at my huge secondary school thinks....

My DD woke up with a sore throat and slight cough this morning. Thought about it briefly and booked a test, if nothing else to prevent her being sent home from school tomorrow morning. Got a test a couple of hours later. Hoping for the result first thing tomorrow so can kick her and sister out to school Grin

Test booked.

Good call, good luck!

@cherrypiepie

Stay off and book a test now. I had mine at 10.30 Saturday and was back- negative -by 5.30 am Sunday.
Mostly they aren't that quick. We had ours Friday morning and haven't heard yet.

Going against the grain...our school are adamant that if it is just “the usual” cough accompanying a cold then all children should be at school. A couple of weeks ago everyone was coughing and half the school went off for tests and not one came back positive.
But if your child’s school’s policy is that any cough requires a test then yeah I’d keep him off and get a test.

@BaldricksCoffee sorry I feel bad now.

Oh don't worry!!
Funnily enough since I posted, we've had one negative result come through but still waiting for the other two.

Similar scenario here with DD 14. Main symptom is sore throat with an occasional throat clearing type cough. It did cross my mind that it could be put on to avoid a particular disliked lesson but I made it clear that that Corona symptom=isolation and test. Also that favourite activity was cancelled that evening too.

Had the test yesterday lunchtime so I'm checking emails constantly for a result either way. DS is peed off he will miss Scouts tomorrow unless we get the all clear, and I'm losing earnings as on a zero hours contract 😩 but rules are there for a reason- to stop the virus spreading.

FWIW her cough has actually got worse since the test and she now says her chest hurts too.

Smart lad.

He knows the recommendations. And it saves you having to collect from school tomorrow when he gets sent home for it.

It's government policy we have to follow Confused

How is a parent supposed to diagnose a virus without a test?
