Would you eat out now (inside dining)?

I really miss going out for a weekend cafe or pub lunch with my family but my husband thinks it's not worth the risk eating inside now that the virus is spreading again like wildfire. He's probably right - the last time we sat inside for a pub lunch (in August), I felt very uncomfortable being so close to the people at the next table.

Most outdoor seating gets booked up really quickly. I feel like for almost every outing since March we've brought packed picnic lunches. I am SO sick of packed sandwiches and would just love to sit down somewhere with warm food for once, just like pre-Covid times!

So just that really, are you comfortable going to lunch if it's going to be inside?

No, haven’t been since December/January time as by Feb it was clear what was going to happen. I enjoy the odd meal out or take away but it’s not worth the risk for the gain. I’d rather just spend extra on the food shop and eat safely at home.

bodgeitandscarper · 10/10/2020 22:18

No I wouldn't, but I care for my ecv mother so I'm super careful about passing anything on to her. It seems daft really as my daughter works in a school and lives with us, but we're doing what we can to avoid covid.

BananaPop2020 · 10/10/2020 22:19

Yes, I wouldn’t even give it a second thought to be honest

flissity · 10/10/2020 22:19

Yes. We went out for dinner this evening with the 3 children. Everyone’s just sat at tables, no one wandering about so we didn’t really get very near anyone except service staff.

LJC1234 · 10/10/2020 22:19

Yes! I have this week and still felt safe.

JM10 · 10/10/2020 22:20

Yes

bettybyebye · 10/10/2020 22:20

Yes, ate out last week and have a restaurant booking I’m really looking forward to on Monday

Kittywampus · 10/10/2020 22:21

We ate out a few times in the summer (usually at outdoor tables) but now it's getting a bit cold for that and it feels too risky to sit indoors now. I'd focus on getting some nicer picnic foods instead. I'm going to start taking a thermos of soup.

bubblebubblebubbletrouble · 10/10/2020 22:21

I did Thursday night, I'm having Sunday lunch out tomorrow- it's way safer than Primark queue was earlier or walking round shopping centre with people half wearing masks.

SmallestInTheClass · 10/10/2020 22:23

No, don't think I'd be relaxed so doesn't appeal. Have found some great local restaurants and pubs doing take aways now so have been taking advantage of that instead.

caughtalightsneeze · 10/10/2020 22:25

I'd feel fine about it.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 10/10/2020 22:25

Yes, I have been eating out indoors since restaurants reopened.

wishing3 · 10/10/2020 22:26

No

MarcelineMissouri · 10/10/2020 22:26

Yes, we go out most weeks. Just got back from dinner out this evening. It feels perfectly safe to me.

ceeveebee · 10/10/2020 22:26

I did today, felt very safe, am in NW so probably the last chance for some time....

Featherstep · 10/10/2020 22:27

It's the thought of being in the same, not very big room with lots of other people breathing and talking for say an hour that makes me uncomfortable.

Earlier this week I read in the Guardian that 'At a briefing for MPs from the north of England and the Midlands earlier, Prof Chris Whitty, the chief medical officer, presented data showing that pubs and restaurants are implicated in more than 30% of coronavirus infections amongst the under-30s'

I had lunch indoors today. A visit to the supermarket feels riskier to me (but I don't avoid doing that anymore than I ever did)

NewlyGranny · 10/10/2020 22:28

No, not yet. I've eaten outside but not gone in anywhere for longer than coffee and that not very often. It's not worth the risk. Went in somewhere for coffee a couple of days back and the staff were so careful, but some guy passed way too close on his way to a table, unmasked, and coughed without covering his mouth just as he went behind my DH.

Lindy2 · 10/10/2020 22:28

No I wouldn't eat indoors. I'd still eat outdoors if it wasn't raining or too freezing but I would not feel at all comfortable in an enclosed area.

There's quite a few caterers around here that are doing deliveries of picnic hampers and grazing platers. Perhaps you could jazz up your picnics by buying in something a bit more special.

AgeLikeWine · 10/10/2020 22:28

Absolutely not. I have not eaten in a restaurant or pub since earMarch and I have no intention of doing so again until this nightmare is over.

PineappleUpsideDownCake · 10/10/2020 22:29

No. The reason they're wanting to close indoor eating and drinking plaves is the high spread isnt it?

We need some threads on spicing up picnic foods in winter. I want to buy some food thermos' but havent yet got ky head round it!

AuntieMarys · 10/10/2020 22:29

We eat out at least twice a week. I don't give it a second thought.

Wimbledon11 · 10/10/2020 22:29

Yes, eat out every weekend

PleasantVille · 10/10/2020 22:29

Yes, I did it this week and will be going out next week too. Everywhere I've been has the tables spaced out and you have to wear a mask when you're not sitting at the table. I have no plans to stop going out.

ceeveebee · 10/10/2020 22:30

That slide doesn’t show where people caught it, it shows where people have been in the week before they got symptoms. And funny, household is very low (despite the fact that we have been told constantly that this is where most transmission happens) and also excludes educational settings, care homes workplaces (which account for the vast majority of reported outbreaks per the PHE reports.
The data is being twisted to justify the fact that they are about to decimate the entire hospitality industry in the north
