Has anyone been told the circuit breaker two week half term is happening?

We’re in the south east and it seems like my children’s primary school are telling the children they’ll be working from home in a few weeks and they’ll need to wear their school uniform. A letter will be sent out apparently.

Is it a done deal? I thought this was stuff that was just being discussed and not confirmed.

Not heard that here, I'm south east too. Nothing at work (nhs) and nothing via the children's school. They have a later half term than other schools so they need to tell us now if that's the case?

That’s what I would think. Parents need notice for this stuff so they’d need to tell us soon.

I’m a teacher (albeit secondary). We’re under the impression (at my school) that this isn’t happening and that we’re going to the bitter end.

My children are secondary school too. Maybe they are just preparing little ones if needed? Who knows it changes weekly anyway

Im also a secondary teacher and this is the impression we have at school too. We've got cases in school and lots in the community, but not even rumours of closing/part-time yet. Although there are some suspicions that half-term might be stay at home...

I'm sure the govt have said schools closing is not on the agenda atm?

Why would they need to wear their school uniform at home? Do you think they've just got mixed up. Surely they wouldnt tell primary school age children stuff that important before notifying parents?

There was another post I read on here yesterday where the poster had said her school had said the same. The kids need to be dressed for school whilst doing Zoom lessons from home.

So that bit rings true.

I work for our LEA and there have been no noticed to schools sent out about this. Not in my LEA anyway.

I’ve not heard anything, although we have had a message today saying homework needs to be done online from now on to get them ‘used to uploading their work’ who knows?

Our school have sent out consent forms for live streaming and asked everyone to make sure they can log onto the electronic system.

I've heard nothing, no cases at our primary so far but quite a few at the secondary with kids self isolating.

Both primary and secondary school have sent letters making sure kids have either a laptop or a pc to work from. Think they are just preparing

You don't need to ask on here, if the govt announces a lockdown it will do it publicly not via notes in school book bags.

We're in Wales and yesterday we were emailed information including timetales for google classroom for learning from home "just in case" we aren't open. So somethings afoot.

Schools have been told that by law, they need to be able to offer a full online curriculum and that this needs to be in place by October 22nd. Which does make you wonder!

i’ve had emails this week from both my son’s schools asking if my children have access to laptops and internet so it sounds like maybe they’re planning for some sort of lockdown or school closure. i don’t imagine we’d be told until the very last minute though 🙄

All these emails from school will be so that the schools can comply with their legal requirements which come into force from October 22nd.

I shall just wait and hope it’s preparation for the possibility. To be fair that does make sense as right now perhaps the government isn’t sure what they’re going to do. I think Scotland is about to announce stricter measures so we may end up doing the same.

You say that but half of a Mumsnet are convinced that there are copious accounts on here manned by members of parliament. Are you there Boris?!

I think unfortunately at least in some areas we're already reaching the point where we're too late for a circuit breaker to help :( By half term it will be endemic.
