Hmmm. Not really sure this is evidence of carrying on as normal. We don't go to any indoor venues, so rarely go in a supermarket, don't really go in shops, aren't having people over for meals, not going out for meals unless outdoors, can't meet with another family (as more than 6) so not doing activities with a friend at the weekend. Our life doesn't look anything like normal as we're avoiding being indoors or within 2m of anyone for 15minutes due to cv transmission!!

However as there seems little risk to outdoor activities, as a family we've been out walking a lot, beach (not on those crowded days, more recently) parks and theme parks. Would happily do a wildlife park too! Outdoors and distanced is very low risk imo. And we'd happily walk with another family of 4 if allowed as we had been doing.

Having said that, I hear though from people that are visiting the shopping centre it is pretty much normal there... but as things like cinemas are closing not sure is its a majority "back to normal?" I think when the schools went back maybe some people took it as such?

samosamimosa · 06/10/2020 03:59

No.

CallmeAngelina · 06/10/2020 07:33

@SheilaWilcox

this thread has been an eye opener for me. I didn't realise so many people were carrying on as normal. My DH has a tendency to suffer from mild health anxiety so we've really scaled back what we're doing.
But you're sending your children to school?
Itisasecret · 06/10/2020 07:39

Yes, I went on the weekend. It was brilliant. I work in a school and I know which one I would say is safer.

Flev · 06/10/2020 07:47

We did last month as my husband had won free tickets. We left early as it seemed no one there had any concept of social distancing. Its the first time I've felt unsafe since the very early days when we were told to not even pass someone on the street. I wouldn't go back.

Heard they are busy this weekend so people must be going

Judging by the traffic head to our local theme park this morning I don't think people are put off.

LadyGAgain · 11/10/2020 13:48

Yep. Took the DC to one on Friday. Not a Q in sight! It was wonderful.

elliejjtiny · 11/10/2020 13:56

No. A theme park trip is a massive treat for us that we would have to save up for. I wouldn't want to go now with all the restrictions in place, having to wear a mask which I hate doing and worrying about my autistic 6 year old licking things. It doesn't sound like much fun and I would rather wait until this is over.

Usually, yes, same here. But we got 4 tickets for £8.50 each from the Sun Superdays Facebook group. People sell their unwanted tickets and there are strict rules about no profiteering. It didn't feel so high stakes if it was a slightly weird day. Very much worth it for us.

Viv0321 · 11/10/2020 14:42

Blue- how did you find it?

OP posts:
PineappleUpsideDownCake · 11/10/2020 15:35

We're going again in half term. We have a Merlim pass this year so we don't have to save up as we would normally do!

Bluewavescrashing · 11/10/2020 16:20

@Viv0321 search FB groups for Sun Superdays ticket swap and join. You can either swap tickets got different dates or buy and sell. I paid the seller by PayPal, she sent me the email tickets and at the fare we scanned the barcodes, got in no questions asked.

Viv0321 · 11/10/2020 16:33

Thanks for that

You couldn't pay me to go to a theme park, pandemic or no pandemic

LolaSmiles · 11/10/2020 16:36

I wouldn't. I don't like them at the best of times and would rather not drive ages to hang around in a place full of others who've driven hours, sharing toilets etc.

Viv0321 · 11/10/2020 16:41

The ones that’s saying no, do you have kids or just Wouldnt go anyway?

Pugdoglife · 11/10/2020 16:46

We went to a major theme park in August and felt safe, with rising numbers now I'd probably still go mon-fri but not on a weekend or school holiday because they will be busy.

SeaDreaming · 11/10/2020 16:49

I went past Flamingo Land on my own the other week and was SO tempted (I'venot been to one for years)...

Iwouldbecomplex · 11/10/2020 17:21

Yes. I am in local restriction but would go.

Shamrocksunshine · 11/10/2020 17:21

No because it’s too cold to wait in the queues. Corona wouldn’t bother me.

6PeopleInAPubSafeHomeUnsafe · 11/10/2020 17:24

Yes. We went to Thomasland at Drayton manor on a day heavy rain was forecast. No rain. No queues. Social distancing and hand washing enforced on rides. We cleaned our hands after touching anything. Tesco feels a bigger risk than that!

youdidask · 11/10/2020 17:39

Went to Thorpe park In August.

It was busy and quite hard to socially distance in some of the queues dispute the markers.

The biggest issue was that the park was not fully open. They advertise 60% admission numbers but then only have 60% of the park open. Cancels each other out IMO

Viv0321 · 11/10/2020 17:57

I wouldbecomplex- are those on local lockdown Able to travel?
