No need to wear a mask all day. Only on the rides or indoors. V occasionally really!

Rainb0wDrops · 05/10/2020 18:49

Yes I've been to two recently but on weekdays in term time so they've been really quiet and no more than 10 mins queues.

Bluewavescrashing · 05/10/2020 18:50

I did in September. Not now though. It feels like things are accelerating.

Hazelnutlatteplease · 05/10/2020 18:52

Yes absolutely. (But i wouldn't eat indoors.)

Antibac before and after rides. Masks on pretty much everywhere (3 layer cotton plus N95 filter). Food eaten outside (no masks and air conditioning/heating is a fantastic spreader).

Rainer the better just wear appropriate clothing. Puts people off so virtually no queues. Did thorpe Friday -longest queue was about 15mins socially distanced.

About one of the few things I wouldn't hesitate to do again. Sooner do a theme park than a supermarket

notanoctopus · 05/10/2020 18:54

I went to legoland, but lots of people weren't adhering to the markers. There was sanitiser everywhere, some people used, some didn't. I might give the indoor rides a miss if I went again, but that's more due to people not SDing.

notanoctopus · 05/10/2020 18:55

It was nice to do something normal though.

whiteroseredrose · 05/10/2020 19:16

No because I don't like rides.

But if I did like rides then yes. They're outdoor with lots of space.

frozendaisy · 05/10/2020 19:27

Perhaps non weekend

AriettyHomily · 05/10/2020 19:33

No. Queuing is bad enough in normal times never mind half capacity and sanitising between each ride.

CallmeAngelina · 05/10/2020 19:43

We went to Thorpe Park today.
I thought they had good protocols in place for social distancing and hygiene. Every hour or so they pause the rides for a deeper clean with buckets/sprays etc.. Plenty of tannoy reminders about masks, even during the rides if they'd slipped down, and I don't think I saw anyone not wearing one. There were sanitiser points EVERYWHERE, and everyone had their temperature zapped on entry to the park.
There weren't anywhere NEAR the "normal" numbers of people there, so we got straight on nearly every ride, and more often than not could remain on for a second go. Much better value for money, as so little time spent in queues (which were effectively distanced), so we did pretty much everything in 5 hours, 2 or 3 times each.
Still curious as to how there were a fair few school-aged kids there!

Ohfrigginghellers · 05/10/2020 20:04

Yes. Was at one yesterday. It was pretty quiet and fun!

loulouljh · 05/10/2020 20:06

Nope...paying a fortune to go round with a mask on. No way.

PineappleUpsideDownCake · 05/10/2020 20:18

Callme - its very different at the weekend!

Often there are home schooled kids who take their trips out when it's less busy.

Hazelnutlatteplease · 05/10/2020 20:19

Masks are the new normal. The more we all wear them the easier it will be to lead normal-ish lives.

CrappleUmble · 05/10/2020 20:23

Oh, do you have to wear the masks outside? I didn't realise.

PineappleUpsideDownCake · 05/10/2020 20:28

No you dont have to wear masks outside. You only need them on for a few minutes at a time on a ride or walking through a shop.

EnglishGirlApproximately · 05/10/2020 20:32

We've been to Alton Towers three times and Gulliver's since they reopened. AT was busy in the school holidays but still felt much safer than any shop I've been in. Tje only part that wasn't good was the Sharkbait Reef. We've taken picnics and eaten outside, plenty of sanitiser and madks on rides. The odd person has been a bit close in the queue but no worse than the school run tbh
We've got Chessington and Legoland booked this month so hoping we don't get locked down before then. Trying to get as much fun out of the summer as possible as it could be a really long, miserable winter.

Hazelnutlatteplease · 05/10/2020 20:33

Only on the rides and indoor areas are they compulsory. We chose to wear them out and about too, once you get used to them it's not hard. DS is vulnerable (he didn't come this time but he did in the summer)

CallmeAngelina · 05/10/2020 20:42

But I would never go at the weekend. Or during the school holidays either, come to that. Or mid-week after secondary GCSEs and A levels. Today was pretty much the only day of the year for us! Grin
CallmeAngelina · 05/10/2020 20:44

Don't think the photo sellers are doing much business at the moment though!
It was hard to even tell which action shot was us, let alone think about buying one.

PineappleUpsideDownCake · 05/10/2020 21:00

We wouldn't do weekends by choice. Only because the kids are in school! We've been a fair bit though. The extension on our passes has worked in our favour as we would never normally go in August - but we did this year. It was particularly quiet when they first reopened.

We aren't really going indoors much at all (home shopping etc). Or at least we weren't until schools reopened. Quite happy being outdoors at a theme park though!

TheYellowOfTheEgg · 05/10/2020 23:40

I went in July. We had to wear masks on most rides, but otherwise it was nicely undementory. They closed the rides every half hour for a few minutes for a "deep clean".

Only about 5-10% of people wore masks while walking around. Anyone who is really worried wouldn't be there. Normally I don't like crowds, but it was nice to see people out and about and enjoying themselves.

pinkkoala · 05/10/2020 23:43

Yes we did in august, with our merlin pass, we did legoland, Chessington a couple of times and alton towers, all were ok, plenty of hand gel around and saw them cleaning the rides.

BogRollBOGOF · 05/10/2020 23:46

I would have considered it in the summer if it wasn't for the ridiculousness of having to wear face rags in outdoor spaces.

SheilaWilcox · 06/10/2020 00:43

this thread has been an eye opener for me. I didn't realise so many people were carrying on as normal.
My DH has a tendency to suffer from mild health anxiety so we've really scaled back what we're doing.
