Nothing to do with the schools going back then.

I'm an infant school teacher, absolutely love being in school, in fact I'm increasingy hours soon to work full time. But schools are germ couldrons at the best of times. Stop blaming the public, Bozo! Most of us are making the right choices.

Complacent? No
What did they expect.?
Encourage people out for cheap food
Schools and universities returning
And people encouraged to go back to the office
Pubs open for shorter hours meaning people start earlier drink a lot in a shorter amount of time then all have to leave together. And go to the local shop for more drinks at their mates house

Mmm. Yes I wonder why cases are rising
It’s a mystery for sure

freddiemercury · 02/10/2020 17:47

If anyone was complacent it was Boris... who failed to ramp up testing capacity...and seemed surprised that there was more demand when schools, went back. He's an arse

dementedpixie · 02/10/2020 17:48

He can just fuck right off with his blame game...areshole

KittCat · 02/10/2020 17:49

...says the man who caught it by shaking hands with Covid patients 🤔

user1495884620 · 02/10/2020 17:49

Fucking gaslighting tit. Go to work. Go to the pub. Spend money. Now...it's YOUR fault cases are rising.

nibdedibble · 02/10/2020 17:50

God he is such a twat
We are all under stress and we all deserve some leadership
Not this

PineappleUpsideDownCake · 02/10/2020 17:50

Hmmm.

OpenlyGayExOlympicFencer · 02/10/2020 18:07

Well he certainly fucking did, the useless arsehole.

ChaChaCha2012 · 02/10/2020 18:10

At PMQs he insisted everyone understood the rules and was following them.

Another day, another shitshower.

ohthegoats · 02/10/2020 18:12

He himself was complacent back in March.

His decisions have resulted in people being placed at higher risk of infection.

He's a cretin. And other words.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 02/10/2020 18:12

He can fuck right off with that. If they did get complacent it was because he was encouraging everyone to go out and get back to the office.

Bluewavescrashing · 02/10/2020 18:20

Glad it's not just me who is angry!

I follow all the rules at work to reduce the spread but in my cramped classroom with 30 x 5 year olds, a handful of whom enjoy licking things / picking their nose and smearing it on the table / blowing air in each other's faces, all the while facing me at the front in their rows of desks (when they should be moving around, accessing various recourses, exploring, getting down on the floor etc) I despair.

Terrible government planning. The vast majority of people are trying to follow the (confusing and every changing) rules.

And even Boris can't remember them.

EmMac7 · 02/10/2020 18:29

I think he’s right. But he, and his government, fuelled that complacency.

This virus can’t be treated like an on/off switch. For now, we must remain vigilant.

Nquartz · 02/10/2020 18:29

This was from a couple of weeks ago:

Stephen Reicher @ReicherStephen

Todays National Statistics make for very interesting reading.

93% of people report wearing facemasks,
81% say they are avoiding physical contact with others,
only 13% of people say they have socialised with more than 10 people
and only 14% of people say they have socialised with more than 2 households.

Most people are following the rules.

By contrast, the proprtion of people working at work has risen to some 60%
while the numbers working from home has halved to some 20%

  • even though figures suggest that half of all workplaces are not socially distanced.

Similarly the number of people going out, drinking out and eating out ('to help out') has risen sharply -
eating out from some 10% to nearly 40%.
It has dropped in the last week, but remains much higher than before.

In sum, the numbers getting exposed to infection because they are doing what the Government is telling them to do
vastly outweighs the number being exposed by breaking COVID restrictions.
And yet the Government blames the public for the situation we are now in.

Nquartz · 02/10/2020 18:30

And the faux surprise that demand for tests increased significantly just before/as schools went back.

No shit Sherlock 🤦🏻‍♀️

Tomatoesneedtoripen · 02/10/2020 18:34

but of course, it is only to be expected.
we can only keep it up for a certain amount of time

Tomatoesneedtoripen · 02/10/2020 18:36

but life has to go on.

herecomesthsun · 02/10/2020 18:41

I'm getting a bit fed up of people saying "but life has to go on".

On one level it is a meaningless platitude - life generally does go on, bar the apocalypse, or you dying, in which case it doesn't, for you.

But I prefer the attitude of fighting. Fighting to get out a vaccine in record time.

Fighting to get some sensible plan for schools in place.

Doing our best not to get infected ourselves.

Trying to make things better for others.

Not giving up.

Streamingbannersofdawn · 02/10/2020 18:41

Oh this has made me cross.

The Government actively encouraged people back to the office, into restaurants and cafe's.

What the hell did they expect. Idiot.

Streamingbannersofdawn · 02/10/2020 18:46

And also...my colleague waited a week for her covid test result, I signed up to the priority testing service over a week ago and haven't even been acknowledged.

The government seem terribly surprised that there is increased demand! Schools and Universities are back....if anyone is complacent its this government.

Tomatoesneedtoripen · 02/10/2020 18:48

but some people have put their life on hold and are now just Fed up

JosephineDeBeauharnais · 02/10/2020 18:50

I’m glad I don’t have his nerve in my tooth. Cheeky bastard.

Tomatoesneedtoripen · 02/10/2020 18:54

look at the news of the chucking out at the pubs,
looks pretty complacent to me

annabel85 · 02/10/2020 18:55

Get back to the office. Eat out to help out.

Literally weeks ago he was telling people to get out more.
