Zoe Covid App-invited for a covid test

I've been using the Zoe reporting app daily. Had a headache and sore throat a couple of days ago, and have been invited to have a covid test.
I've applied, but I'm assuming I don't need to isolate, as I don't have any of the main symptoms?

My test has gone back this morning. Will be interesting to see how long it takes for the results now...

Doing my home test today (for research purposes!). I reported a sore throat - am certain just a cold.

Question re posting it back - do you have to do it just before the last post collection? Meaning it’s collected quite quickly and on its way to the lab? Or can I do it now and post it?

DH and I have interpreted the instructions differently!!

@GnarlyOldGoatDude

How strange, I got a Zoe invitation today too.

No typical Covid symptoms at all, just a sore throat. No fever, cough or anosmia.

I think they’re investigating whether “other” symptoms have any value.

I also had a ZOE invited. My ‘symptoms’ were sore throat, headache, aches and pains making me feel like we had been hit by a bus so ordered test. I have since had a fleeting temp and a sporadic cough (couple of coughs per hour for the last 18 hours) 111 have told me to isolate (I’m NW and our cases are ridiculous).

I had awful aches and pains at the end of last week, the Zoe app invited me to take a test - I did a postal test and sent it back on Monday. DD2 has had a sore throat since yesterday and woke up from a nap this afternoon with a fever, out local drove through centre had appointments straight away so I took her to be tested. I wonder which results will come back first!

marriednotdead · 07/10/2020 18:09

I got a Zoe app test offer on Friday evening after reporting fatigue and a sore throat. Did the test at a walk through centre at 1pm Saturday and got a negative result at 4pm on Sunday.

Didn't see anyone inbetween but that would've been the case regardless.

GeordieRacer · 07/10/2020 18:25

How funny, Zoe have also asked me to test due to headache and sore throat, they must researching in more detail that combination of symptoms.
As pps have said we are not required to self isolate.

Tomatoesneedtoripen · 07/10/2020 18:29

i got rid of the app and now cannot get it back without getting rid of something else!

GnarlyOldGoatDude · 07/10/2020 20:00

I had my result back (negative); my symptoms had been sore throat, along with a stinking cold and blocked nose.

I opted for the postal test for ease as I was working (I wasn’t Covid symptomatic) and blimey I won’t do that again. Was easy to order online and post back the test kit, but took 4 days from posting (and 6 days from being advised to book one) to get the result.

An in-person test for a symptomatic family member the week before took less than 24 hours to come back.

kimlo · 07/10/2020 20:22

I've done one today, I reported a headache.

I couldn't ring my boss and say I had a headache two days ago so now I'm not coming to work until I get my covid results.

The only time I did self isolate when they asked me to get a test was the time I would have booked a test anyway because dd2 had some of the symptoms.

Thorilicious · 07/10/2020 21:05

I got my results today, negative, as I thought. If I have to have a test for proper symptoms, I'll be doing the drive through option, the postal option takes far longer!

@Jungfraujoch I'm assuming you've posted yours now, but I read it as anytime, as long as its not within an hour of the final pick up.
My yest arrived Saturday afternoon, so I couldn't take it till Monday. It was in the postbox by 8am.

Posted mine off today - wonder how long it’ll take?!

Houseplanted · 08/10/2020 11:39

@Jungfraujoch I posted mine Monday morning and got the result very late lWednesday night.

KylieKoKo · 09/10/2020 14:57

I just got my negative result. I ordered it on Monday and it arrived on Tuesday and I posted it back the same day.

cornflakegirl · 09/10/2020 16:30

The Zoe app has invited me for a test due to headache / sore throat - but I can't work out how to navigate the gov site.

The email says to select 'I have coronavirus symptoms (I'm an essential worker)', and then indicate in the next page if I have one of the key symptoms, but that doesn't seem to be an option.

The first page asks me if I have a key symptom - if I click yes, there doesn't seem to be a way to then indicate that I don't. But if I click no, then I can't get a test without saying the council / research group have asked me to.

I'm sure it wasn't this hard the last time I booked a Zoe test! Can anyone steer me through please?

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 10/10/2020 10:26

Hopefully you have done it by now but basically you have to lie to the government website with the knowledge that the government has said it’s ok for Covid app people to get tests when asked.

cornflakegirl · 10/10/2020 13:29

Thanks Serenade, glad I'm not missing something obvious.

GlomOfNit · 15/11/2020 21:52

Thank god for this slightly old thread, because this whole 'do I self-isolate if ZOE asks me to test for non-key symptoms' has been doing my head in! I assumed not - but have had some rather pointed comments from friends (and one GP relative...) when I've mentioned I've done a test because of reporting very definitely non-key symptoms (things like dizziness and mild fatigue) but haven't been isolating until I get the result.

I think there's a general confusion about what ZOE is for, and why they ask you to test. I'm interested that some people on this thread mentioned that they found the guidance from ZOE about NOT self-isolating very clear, because I haven't seen any!
