I'm on mat leave now (thank god) but if we have so isolate I believe my OH only gets SSP for the two weeks. Which Is fine is better than nothing but we literally cannot afford that. I'm so paranoid about us being told to isolate :(

bingoncbeebies · 29/09/2020 07:34

I guess, if you can work from home, then do that.

Otherwise, there's access to government support. It's not much, but it's something. I think it's paid to your employer and then to you. Not sure about self-employed people who can't work from home though.

EasterIssland · 29/09/2020 07:35

I only get time off if I’m the ill one. I’m wfh since March so even if someone in the household is ill I’d need to carry on working and taking care of ds

Wetweekend99 · 29/09/2020 07:35

Husband gets full pay but I only get SSP. Guess which one of us is NHS Grin

Dreading it.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 29/09/2020 07:36

Dh gets full pay (can't wfh). Not sure how they would handle repeated isolation but he works in a high covid risk environment (secondary school).

I can wfh so would just continue as normal 're work.

ClarencesMum · 29/09/2020 07:37

I'd get paid and could work from home.

DH cannot work from home. Best we can hope for there is SSP, which barely covers the shopping.

MadameMinimes · 29/09/2020 07:38

I’m a teacher. Self isolation is treated as working from home in my school. Teachers link into their classes from home and teach live with the cover person setting up the link and keeping an eye on the class in person and keeping them on task during activities. I haven’t had to self isolate yet this term (although I did teach a couple of classes like this before lockdown due to self-isolation) but it seems to be working OK.

Itisbetter · 29/09/2020 07:40

WFH, which most of us will be doing anyway.

ShutUpaYourFace · 29/09/2020 07:45

I've just had to do 2 weeks with my 8 year old who's teacher tested positive. I took 2 weeks off. Literally arrived at work by 10am got a call and had to go collect him immediately. I get full sick pay and DH gets SSP so usually down to me. Back at work today and I assume they will pay me sick, even though I wasn't! If it's unpaid parental leave we're in trouble! My boss is really good though not like many many others and I've worked for him for over 20 years so he knows its unprecedented times and I usually don't take the piss! Next week it could happen to my other child!

nannynick · 29/09/2020 07:45

SSP only. Can't work from home.

Tomatoesneedtoripen · 29/09/2020 07:45

oh, i cant work from home

OP posts:
ShutUpaYourFace · 29/09/2020 07:46

I can't work from home either. Although I have offered.

Concerned7777 · 29/09/2020 07:54

I get SSP, DH is self employed so he gets zilch. If I'm off due to the children needing to isolate I get nothing then either. Its simply not sustainable for anyone to keep isolating

CeeJay81 · 29/09/2020 07:57

I think it's full pay atm, but not sure how much longer that'll continue. Can't work from home.

vonny63 · 29/09/2020 08:12

Currently self isolating but WFH so no difference. All covid related absences are paid and don't count towards sickness/absences. Work are pleading those with symptoms etc stay at home!

starfish4 · 29/09/2020 08:24

I've got one job that will make it up, very lucky as they're struggling and looking at second round of redundancies in three months. The other will just be SSP, which is annoying as I feel there's a 90% chance that's where any case will come from

thenightsky · 29/09/2020 08:29

I do agency secretarial/admin work, so if I don't go where I'm sent I don't get paid.

JumperTime · 29/09/2020 08:30

I'm actually waiting to find out later today whether I'll get full pay after a colleague tested positive and several of us are now in enforced isolation for 2 weeks. Can't do our job from home. Our usual sick policy is 2 full weeks pay in a 12 month period and I haven't had any sick days in the last 12 months so really hoping for full pay, we'll see Hmm.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 29/09/2020 08:52

I cannot WFH but business is very good at the moment so my boss has said he will pay us if we need to isolate. We're a factory of around 100 employees and no cases or isolations yet.

HoneyBee03 · 29/09/2020 09:12

I'll be working from home but DH won't get paid a penny - self employed so no sick pay or holiday. Not sure how we will manage it to be honest, we've got a credit card at the ready to cover bills.

LadyLoungeALot · 29/09/2020 09:37

I'm actually not sure if I get paid or not. Better check!

Vivana · 29/09/2020 09:37

Full pay for 2 weeks

Vivana · 29/09/2020 09:40

I can't work from home either and waiting to find out if a colleague has got it as she was around a family member who had it over the weekend and got the positive test result yesterday

AriettyHomily · 29/09/2020 09:42

WFH so no difference to me.

DH is a teacher, I assume he would get paid but haven't actually looked into it.

Heyahun · 29/09/2020 09:55

Manage a nursery - have made the decision to pay staff while they isolate / wait for a test! I feel if it’s unpaid it will just make people chance it and come to work anyway even if sick! Which could just make things worse / cause us to close down for a period of time!
Not ideal - really we can’t afford to pay them for being off as we will need to hire agency staff - but think it has to be done!
