North's Wales huge gathering of young people in street right now

I'm staying at a hotel in beautiful North Wales. We are in a large village, smaller than my home village in England.

I'm so surprised and a little rattled that there are probably 60 young people in the street outside. No SD happening, lots of shouting, screaming, arguing, a few minor scuffles, some people throwing up.

It's really noisy but my main concern is the large amount of people hanging about without any SD.

I've seen people not following the rules in England, but nothing like this. It feels so sad and makes me feel really hopeless wrt the control of Covid.

I should clarify that the area we are in is not under lockdown.

My sister lives on the Rhug estate and you would be driving about 20 minutes away from Bala.
I am sure by now you have had a lovely day by the lake and explored the town, there are plenty of walks and you can easily walk to the train in 20 mins.
Tonight the town will be quiet.

@crimsonlake at the risk of being outed your guess work is brilliant!

It's such a beautiful area and with the help of @crimsonlake 's suggestions we've had a lovely walk today.

Maybe I am naive, but this isn't happening in my large home town, and the police presence is quite noticeable. Ordinarily I would stick some ear phones in and let it go- but at the moment it's feels really sad given the rising infection rate....

Sorry that should have said @Tickledtrout's suggestions!

I'm not clear if you've made a report to the police?

Chaotic45 · 27/09/2020 17:57

@killerofmen no I haven't. It wasn't possible. I couldn't call 111 as I have zero reception here, and the online service had no way of doing it.

It's awful that the online service suggested that there was a 'report something else' option, but no such option exists. Also, from the reaction of the hotel team and posters in here it sounds like it's all seen as standard herd and nothing would be done?!

Yes, a standard weekend after the pubs shut in Bala, although it does seem somewhat late. I can understand it would be unsettling, but you were quite safe. Just keep out of the local bars as tourists will be in the lounges. Those are the rules.
My elderly dm always fills me in on who has died as she did today whenever I call, so no doubt she knows you're relative.
Good luck tomorrow.

@crimsonlake thank you for the reassurance. I wasn't worried for my safety, just amazed to hear and see the complete chaos and huge amounts of young people close together when we are all supposed to be social distancing.

Ah I bet your DM knew my relative- it's a small world.

Everybody knows everybody in such a small place and the local surrounding areas. So, yes without a doubt.
