North's Wales huge gathering of young people in street right now

I'm staying at a hotel in beautiful North Wales. We are in a large village, smaller than my home village in England.

I'm so surprised and a little rattled that there are probably 60 young people in the street outside. No SD happening, lots of shouting, screaming, arguing, a few minor scuffles, some people throwing up.

It's really noisy but my main concern is the large amount of people hanging about without any SD.

I've seen people not following the rules in England, but nothing like this. It feels so sad and makes me feel really hopeless wrt the control of Covid.

I should clarify that the area we are in is not under lockdown.

Call the police

Tickledtrout · 26/09/2020 23:35

It's cold tonight. What are they doing?

SheepandCow · 26/09/2020 23:36

Perhaps they're protestors?

Fannybawz · 26/09/2020 23:39

Call the police ffs

justasking111 · 26/09/2020 23:45

I live in N Wales I would have thought someone would have called the police by now. What the hell are the hotel doing about it. I would kick up a fuss now. You are not having a restful evening which you are entitled to as are the other guests. Complain and expect recompense that ought to get them moving, trying to think which large village you are in.

crimsonlake · 26/09/2020 23:58

That sounds like a typical Saturday night in my North Wales home town, the locals do like to fight after a drink...I wonder where you are?

EmMac7 · 27/09/2020 00:03

This happens in the park behind my house (Kent) most weekend nights these days.

Concerned7777 · 27/09/2020 03:27

Ffs as if its the hotels fault that there's lots of people outside, I can just imagine the hotel owner popping outside asking the locals to disperse so they don't have to refund all the guests.Hmm

Chaotic45 · 27/09/2020 07:11

Finally it went quiet at 2.30 am. I'm in Bala. It's not the hotel's fault, they can't be responsible for what goes on in the street outside.

It made me really sad to think that after all the covid measures and rules in place this is happening. I have no phone reception so could not call the police but I looked at the non emergency (ie 111 rather than 999) online service. It's ridiculous as there is no reporting section for this type of thing! I've attached a screenshot which says 'report something else' option to report something not listed- and there isn't one. There's a whole list of options, but no 'report something else'. I guess I could have used the 'noise nuisance' option but I know that would have not been reacted on for days.

Sigh, this is a stunning part of the world, and the people are so lovely but this is shocking. I'd like to go home but have solicitor and bank meetings on Monday to sort out a relatives Estate after their death.

If anyone can recommend any very local lovely walks or somewhere safe to eat a nice meal that would be good. The hotel is doing its best but it doesn't feel very clean or socially distanced. I really struggled to find somewhere to stay as everywhere was booked up!

This is not an unusual thing (and btw Bala is a town). You could go to any town - even towns in England and see the same kind of scenes. No it isn't right, but it isn't unusual and not something you'd only see in Bala!!

Chaotic45 · 27/09/2020 08:11

@U8myufo apologies for not realising Bala is a town. Arrived late and haven't had a chance to get to know it.

This isn't happening in my local town, and it's a shame to see it. I've been out to walk the dog and there is also a lot of vomit in the street Confused.

Looking firearm to finding a nice local walk to blow away the cobwebs.

Sounds like a normal night out in a lot of towns. I grew up in a county town. It was ‘cop or scrap’ on a Saturday night.

U8myufo · 27/09/2020 08:16

Yeah - lawless here in North Wales compared to over the border

Chaotic45 · 27/09/2020 08:17

*firearm? Oops that should say 'forward to' ,

Oh I love Bala but it can be a bit “lively” 😄 There’s nothing for the local kids to do, especially at this time of year.
There’s a lovely walk in Llangollen?

TweeterandtheMonkeyman · 27/09/2020 08:27

@U8myufo

Yeah - lawless here in North Wales compared to over the border
😂 OP should have booked the hotel in Chester!
Tickledtrout · 27/09/2020 08:27

A walk around the lake or www.walkingbritain.co.uk/walk-2055-description
would give you great views.
Bala can be pretty lairy on a Saturday / holiday evening especially. Hope your weekend improves and you sleep better tonight. Sorry to hear about your bereavement.
Rhug farm shop have a nice but expensive cafe if you're still looking for lunch ideas and have a car.

Chaotic45 · 27/09/2020 08:33

@Tickledtrout thank you for your very kind walk and farm shop suggestion. I will definitely check them out.

Maybe I'm naive and unrealistic about the way things are at the moment. I didn't mean any offence @U8myufo. It's a beautiful part of the world.

Where the fuck are the police? Pathetic this is allowed.

Too many only work family friendly hours so aren't available evenings and weekends when these things happen.
Tickledtrout · 27/09/2020 08:45

Btw if the lakeside train is running you can let it do some of the lakeside walk for you!

Tickledtrout · 27/09/2020 08:46

bala-lake-railway.co.uk/
Looks like it is

Chaotic45 · 27/09/2020 08:47

@Tickledtrout that looks lovely but it looks like it only has a few pickups today, and I'd struggle to get the timing right as I'm not sure how long it would take to walk the rest of it!

OP posts:
Tickledtrout · 27/09/2020 08:55

Yes it only covers that side of he lake. Is tourist information open? They'll point you towards a good walk. There are little walks around the rhug estate if you end up there.

crimsonlake · 27/09/2020 17:19

Chaotic45 I just knew it was Bala, as that is my hometown lol, although I do not live there any more although some of my family do.
This is a typical weekend night when the locals leave the pubs, farmers and locals get in to fights. Are you at the White Lion?
There are no local police police these days, they will just fight it out and go home to bed
